BK2; Chapter 8: [ The Demon Princess ]

When the demon princess tried to escape, many soldiers tried to catch her but couldn’t. Along with a blinding light, she completely disappeared.

“It must be a magic item” Some of the people guessed.

Without the demon princess, the rest of the demons were like a flock of sheep without its herder. They were in disorder so they were executed with only small injuries in the kingdom’s part.

It can only be called a one-sided battle after the demon princess left.

Hein didn’t join the battle against the demons. After seeing their desperate struggle, his fighting spirit disappeared like smoke as his interest vanished.

He just stood there watching the battle with indifferent eyes, as if he was just looking towards a battle video through a monitor.

At first, knowing that the demons were very strong and high-leveled, his fighting spirit surge at its peak.

However, after just showing a little bit of power they were easily disheartened and immediately gave up, thinking their end is here.

This weak thinking made his appetite for battle went down to bottom.

Losing his interest, he didn’t join the fight and only watch at the side.

“Hein, I would like to thank you for helping us earlier. Especially for protecting my daughter”

King Alexander came to him and said. Seeing his humble attitude, the surrounding people’s eyes change that to admiration, worship, fear or even jealousy.

They couldn’t forget the terrifying might Hein showed them a while ago. They thought he was just a small child yet still possessed that kind of power!

Hein raised his head and faced the king with a wry smile,

“There’s nothing to thank me for, after all I was just doing it for my parents.”

‘I didn’t do it for her or you in particular ‘ is what Hein meant with his smile. However, there wasn’t a need to remind others that without a doubt, Hein had definitely fought to protect them, especially the royal family.

Just that act alone was good enough to make the king and the princesses feel touched.

Especially the first princess, Aura Alberona who he directly saved. Her eyes, who were watching Hein’s every move, seem like emitting something.

At first, she thought that Hein was just another talented genius boy just like any other geniuses.

He might be a [ World Jumper ] but he was still no different from them. All the rumors were just exaggerated to some extent, but when she witnessed his real power.

She couldn’t help but be stunned and left dumbfounded.

‘Are all [ World Jumpers ] really that strong and powerful compared to us?’ She thought.

However, what she only witnessed was only the tip of the iceberg. Hein even didn’t release a third of his real power.

If she knew this fact, just what would she think? Would she cry tears of blood? Or do all the things she can do to tie him to her.

“No, even if you say that. It’s the fact that it’s because of you we managed to eliminate this assassins without much casualties. Especially, you really saved my daughter earlier. That alone can make me feel indebted to you.”

“….”

“It’s a pity that there is one demon who manage to escape. I’m guessing it’s not just an ordinary demon assassin. It might be a valuable being from the way the demons tried to protect him.”

Hearing these words, Hein’s lips curled up for a moment.

‘Escape? Ooh~ if that’s what you want to believe then go on~’ Hein bemused himself.

Looking at the upper right corner of his field of vision, a small map was found. He stared at the area of the map where there was a red dot blinking.

This was a new skill he acquired called [ Search ]. A month ago, when he finally leveled up his [ Divine Sense] to the MAX, he acquired a new skill [ Search ].

With this skill, he can search anything that can be found within approximately 30 meters from the user.

‘Just a while ago, when the demon princess disappeared she reappeared near the east gate of the palace. I think she only used a short teleportation magic item … well, I need to go there now or else she might be captured with those many guards~’ Hein thought while wearing a wry smile.

Hein didn’t care if the demon princess died or be captured by the kingdom’s guard; however he still needs to take some information out of her.

She might know some important information that can be used by him to survive in this nonsensical fantasy game world.

Unaware of his thoughts, the king continued talking as if he was really adamant in recruiting him for the kingdom.

“These demons really are despicable! To send some assassins towards us, especially destroying this important night for my daughter, too despicable! With your help, we can destroy these evil demons so easily, right Hein? If you fight with us then there is nothing we need to fear. How about it, Hein. Think about it again, didn’t you say that they are also your enemy?”

After the king said this, Hein paused for a moment.

The king’s statement caused everyone around them to start chattering to one another. There were many people who agreed with the king.

They were also those who felt relieved hearing such powerful person to aid them.

Hein merely turned his head slightly and spoke to the king with his face turned,

“Truthfully, I don’t care whether the entire demon race gets killed or slaughtered however I still want to make this clear. I have only one enemy, but this enemy isn’t necessarily being the demon race. That’s why I don’t want to poke my head on the matter’s I still not deemed important.”

He paused for a second and then continued, “The human race might say that they’re the one who is the good guys, but in the eyes of the demon race they might be the bad guys. Vice-versa … However, even if that were the case, the fact that we are still living beings that prioritize our own rather than others won’t be forgotten. Deciding who’s truly good or bad like that is impossible for humans, that I’m sure of.”

There were no pretense or malice, those words that came from Hein’s mouth sounded like he was saying it out loud so that he could believe in it too.

‘For me, the only one who we needed to defeat is the [ Great Evil Lord ] that AI wannabe is talking.’

At the end of his words, the surrounding people fell silent.

Only the rustle of the cold night wind can be heard. Even the king can’t help but swallow the words he wanted to say next as he just stood there, watching the small back that seems unreachable no matter how he extend his arm.

Ignoring the crowd’s reaction, he turned his face towards his mother who was wearing a complicated expression for some reason.

“I still need to do something so I’ll be coming back late. Don’t worry mother, I’ll be back for sure.” Hein reassured as he gave her a bright smile.

After saying this, Hein turned his face forward, took the black mask again and wore it on his face and then continued onward until his figure disappeared.

———————-

The countless dazzling stars cast their light upon the silent yet cold night. Dazzling bright lights shrouded the courtyard like a mother embracing his son as it brightened up the whole place.

Under this beautiful night, a lone silhouette was frantically moving silently and swiftly through the shadows.

Her heart grieved upon the loss she foolishly incurred. Her eyes tearing up as she thought about her people she left towards their doom as she alone escaped.

She was the one who proposed this plan to her father, the king of the one-horned crimson demon clan; Virhell Lucifer.

When she heard about the human’s plan of alliance just to eliminate all the demon race, including her clan she immediately proposed the assassination of the king of the Berona kingdom who is weaker compared to the other kingdoms.

She knew about the existence of Draig Vilestone who is famed as the strongest swordsman in the kingdom as well as the descendant of a Hero.

But still she persisted because she believes she can kill or maybe defeat him if they confront him with more numbers with high level people. Although reluctant, as long as there is hope his father finally agreed.

However, who would think that they were someone who’s more monstrous than that Draig. On top of that, it’s a boy!

A mysterious boy who not just hinder and obstruct their plan, he also showed them utter despair in front of his power.

A monster she never encountered before, standing before them brandishing his power that completely breaks common sense.

‘Although I doubt my father would be defeated by him but if we truly fight that kind of monster then most likely countless people in our clan will die in his hands.’

Thinking along those thoughts, she grew even angrier as she cursed the small figure in his mind.

“Hey, there’s some demon assassins that manage to snuck inside the palace!” A voice resounded ahead of her, breaking her from her chains of thoughts.

“I know! Damn those vile demons! If I saw them, I will surely rip them to pieces.” Another man said.

“The demon assassins were already killed however one demon managed to escape! Peel that eyes of yours and don’t let even a rat to pass the gate!”

“””Yes sir!”””

‘Tsk, there are many soldiers here! This is the worst!’ She cursed.

Hiding behind a huge tree, she surveys the surrounding to find a better way to escaped. Although she has some magic items with her, there is nothing that could help her to teleport from here to the outside.

She already used the [ Blink Stone ] a while ago because if not she feared that boy might have chased and captured her.

[ Blink Stone ] are very valuable and rare items. It came from the [ Skill Stone ] that can be used to store skill for a single use.

However, [ Skill Stone ] can only store a skill to a certain level, so [ Blink Stone ] can’t teleport her from longer distance.

Noticing a small dark hidden passage, she immediately decided to head there. Oblivious of the danger that lurked in the shadows.

She smiled, thinking her escape almost within her grasp. She swiftly took action,

“I recommend not going that way. More soldiers are waiting at the end of that passage”

………… but then an amused childish voice stopped her movements.

Somersaulting to back away from her original position, she hastily raised her head with vigilance.

“Who’s there?” She demanded in a quivering voice. Her eyes were sharp as she look towards where the voice came from.

Then she froze …

There, stood a boy with white hair wearing a pitch black mask and clothes.

The monster who she, for some reason, greatly feared was standing in front of her quietly staring at her.

“Y, you … why are … you … here?!” She muttered with trembling voice.

“No reason … I just want to meet a fine young lady under the beautiful moonlit sky tonight.” The boy casually said. His voice sounded very soft and calm.

The black sky, like a huge carpet covering the heavens engraved with countless jewels. A spectacular scene with the moon and stars shining brightly in the dark cold night.

But she has no time to enjoy this fantastic view as her heart began trembling with fear and unease.

“Y,you bastard! … I,I’m not going down without a fight!” She shouted desperately.
