BK2; Chapter 61: [ The [ Devil ]s arrivals ]

Flora stood there for a moment, fiddling with her necklace as she stared at the pile of ashes which was the only thing that left on Hein’s body.

Tears silently fell as a gentle wind blew, stirring her hair. Standing there motionless, making her a very beautiful moving yet sorrowful sight.

“Well, it’s no wonder that you don’t know about this. You hated us, gods and didn’t want to socialize with us. Besides, my brother Zeus actually warned us not to tell anyone about this event… after all Athena, Hera, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis and some gods questioned such punishment. They thought that it was quite harsh, they were after all quite fond of that ‘Fool’ especially the female gods he tried to flirt with, anyway the thing is Zeus can’t change his decision anymore because another god from another mythology have taken a liking to him and warned us not to mess with him~ Not wanting to escalate the issue, he decided to hide it.”

Hades explained it casually while seemingly amused by Flora’s reaction.

Flora clenched his fist and took a deep breath to calm her swelling emotions down.

In her heart, Hein was a person filled with secrets and miracles.

A mere weak mortal have actually managed to enter the [Phoenix Rest] and survived, such miracle is quite phenomenal. But now that she heard who Hein really was, all things made sense.

No matter how calm or tranquil you normally are, when you suddenly heard such huge revelation from the one you loved and treasured, your heart wouldn’t be able to stay silent.

You would never be able to prevent your heart from shaking.

… but for her, that kind of truth is too hard to accept.

Flora deeply loved Hein, and in her heart, she felt that he is the only one she wanted.

Even today, upon remembering Hein, Flora couldn’t help but think back to that day they first met.

That day when Hein accidentally entered the [Phoenix Rest], he suffered many troubles and dangerous battles and then he met her. She treated him as an enemy and thought he was the same as the humans she didn’t like.

However, as they talked and pass the time with each other, she slowly understands the mortal named Hein.

He was very hard and callous, very prideful and quite a hedonistic person but he was also gentle and much more natural and at ease.

Whenever he move or talk, you can’t help but be charmed. Although sometimes he was quite glib-tongued but that was what also made her amused even more.

He exudes a wise and cunning aura but he was honest.

Actually, Flora loved seeing Hein’s smile for some reason she didn’t understand.

She always had this hot gush of warmth in her heart whenever she heard him laugh beside her. And although she didn’t want to admit it, but a wry smile seemed to suit him more.

In her lonely and sad life, Hein’s existence caused Flora’s deadened heart to immediately grow excited.

She felt as though she were full of energy and full of hope. That’s why she decided to stand up once again and faced her own fate.

Flora’s eye was turning red.

She really loved him very deeply. She could feel her breathing grow more rapid so she closed her eyes for a moment, calming down her raging emotions.

Once her eyes opened again, she had already returned to her normal calm expression.

“No matter who Hein was… I will still love him!! I will kill you Hades; I swear by the River Styx, I will avenge my lover!!”

She glared pointedly at Hades.

He shrugged, “Can you do it?”

Flora glared at him some more, “Hades, tell me one thing … why did you kill him? Even if he was the real Epimetheus, there’s no need to kill him, right ? So why?”

“I, no, we need to.” Hades grumbled.

“Why?”

“……  Haaa~.” After the short lived silence, seeming like he’d given up, Hades smiled and raised his hands up slowly and,

“Fine, he’s already gone anyway so I guess I could tell you. Actually, Epimetheus.. no, it should be his other self, Solomon who have gotten a new power since before the [War of Myth] now called as [War of Hope] not just that, we felt an omen from what the oracle had said so we the [Demon Lord] decided at that time to kill him. And now that he has once again returned, obviously we need to be careful…”

Hearing his words, Flora’s hostility seemed to be gotten stronger as she scowled at him. When she prepared herself to attack once again, suddenly…

…A ripple in the atmosphere appeared.

At the same time, not far from the two gods, shrieks, screams and a persistent of boom, bang, boom sound echoed in the surrounding accompanied by flying giant spiders, skeletal warriors with calcium deficiency and flying insect that seemed they were practicing to fly before crashing into cracked walls and broken roofs.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

—Actually it’s not like they’re trying to fly, really… it’s just something to do with a very large and heavy ‘thing’, running at full speed.

Something about a ‘thing’ in a shape of a wolf but had a wings of a griffon madly dashing in the place, sending the monsters around it flying.

It had strange tail in a form of a snake—a green viper actually, that spits fire on the spiders butts making it convulsed on the ground.

Beside it was a humanoid looking knight. However, you cannot say that it was a human because his head was that of a lion, a golden hairy lion head that bared fangs while brandishing its black spear while riding on a white horse.

Boohoo!!!

At the same time a figure—no, figures suddenly jumped down heavily from the sky between Flora and Hades, shaking the ground so much that even the destroyed houses and establishments wobbled, scattering dusts and dirt everywhere.

Looking at the center of the crater, Hades couldn’t help but frown.

Just who is it this time?

Across the swath of dirty, dusty newly empty ground, Flora too stared at the disturbance with vigilance. She didn’t know whether it’s a friend or a foe.

When the dusts finally thinned down and faded away, four figures can be seen standing. Three of them are female looking monsters and a lion with a griffon wings.

“Where’s Master?” One of the female anxiously asked while looking around, looking for her master’s presence.

She has three heads. The first head is that of a bull, second who is a black haired beautiful woman and the third one is that of a ram.

Just like the winged wolf in the distance, she has a tail of a snake that spits green colored flames.

She was riding a black horned ugly looking dragon wearing a frilled collar while hissing. It’s poison breath filling the place with the smell that of a ginger being dipped in a bowl of vinegar.

“I don’t know Asmoday! Amy only told us that master is in danger, she didn’t even told us his state… Damn it!” A girl with an appearance of a peacock exclaimed.

Her beautiful feathers glowing like a rainbow, making her appearance quite dazzling to the eyes.

“So what now? Should we like, shout their names out loud? Hey, Andrealphus what now? Like, I’m really anxious to see master right now! Like I’m dying to see him for centuries!!” A girl with leopard ears and tail suggested while looking around the area. Her body was covered with black spots.

” Asmoday, Andrealphus and Ose, prepare yourself! There are two gods surrounding us!” A hoarse yet manly voice came from the griffin-winged lion while growling vigilantly, surveying towards the place filled with dusts and dirt.

“What? Is that true Vapula? Don’t tell me, those gods really found master?!” The peacock girl exclaimed for a moment and then prepared her stand by spreading her beautiful dazzling feathery tail.

“That’s why I told you to let me protect master, Andrealphus! Damn it! If anything happened to master I’m so going to fried you, you freaking bird!” The three headed lady screamed at the peacock lady beside her.

Watching the four shadows talking, Hades and Flora couldn’t help but frowned, obviously confused as to what is going on and wondering who the newly arrived ‘intruders’ is.

When the surrounding finally cleared of the dusts, the four newly arrived ‘intruders’ glared at Hades and Flora while also anxiously trying to look around… trying to find the master they’ve missed so much.

“Asmoday! Andrealphus! Ose! Vapula!” At this moment, a hoarse voice filled with sadness cried out towards the four figures.

“”””Amy!!?””””

When the four heard the voice, they were greatly overjoyed as they recognized the voice. They couldn’t help but immediately rushed towards where the voice came from.

However, when they saw her face—crying face, their hearts couldn’t help but tighten as dread seemed to envelop their hearts, chilling their spines, causing their feet to halt from running.

The owner of the voice was a beautiful girl kneeling in front of a pile of dirt, her messy flaming-red hair spattered with rain and mud.

When she raised her head, her normally big red eyes were even more bloodshot from crying.

No, it can’t be …

That could only mean one thing, but they desperately tried not to think about it.

At this time, they’re hearts and minds were anxiously praying; please no! Please no! Please no! As a very dreadful thoughts passed in they’re heads.

“Master… hic… is… hic… go—”

Before the beautiful red-haired girl finished saying her words, she was sent flying by a kick by the three-headed girl called Asmoday.

Her speed was so fast the red-haired girl couldn’t react at all.

“YOU BASTARD!! WHAT HAPPENED TO MASTER, YOU SON OF A B*TCH!!!” Asmoday cursed.

The female face ashen and in the corner of her eyes, huge beads of water began falling. Her bull head snorted and the ram head glared at the pitiful red haired girl. Both eyes were bloodshot…

For a moment, the other three could only stand there motionless. Even without Iona saying it, they already understand what happened to their master just by looking at her.

It’s just that this truth is too hard to accept.

Asmoday continued to beat Iona who was crying while curling herself into a ball. If not for Vapula stopping her, Asmoday might have killed Iona already.

“…M-master…”

Seeing the Asmoday’s violent reaction, Andrealphus and Ose have started to realize what happened.

Andrealphus dropped lifelessly onto her knees and hit the floor. Ose went into daze while standing and then hugged onto Andrealphus who was starting to shake her head really hard saying “No…” while weeping….

“Pull yourself together you pieces of sh*t!! We’ll grieve after we kill those gods!!”

It’s possible that the calmest one there was Vapula alone.

In his case, he had already experienced losing his beloved master before, so he had built up a little tolerance to the dangers of his master’s existence.

He know that his master will one day be reborn again, waiting for him a little more would not be that difficult.

I’m a treacherous servant…

However, he also doesn’t know when his master will be reborn once again. It might be hundreds of years, or even millions of years later but he can’t do anything about it.

He was angry that he was able to remain calm despite his master’s death. That fact sunk into his chest like a wooden stake piercing through it.

He couldn’t help but feel anger at his own helplessness.

The moment Vapula said that, the surroundings began to change. The weeping girls slowly lift their shivering body up.

Little by little, they raised their heads but this time was different. They’re expressions that can’t be found on any living person.

— Dyed with despair, sorrow, and hatred all of these expression turned into one, making anyone who see it feel chills running down their backs.

Asmoday opened her mouth, her voice low that it sounds like a curse.

“I will kill you… I will kill you…”

The ground, the sky, the scenery, everything is being enveloped by darkness.

So dark and cold that even the light feels it was being sucked in.

This were the black miasma seeping through their bodies, coupled with intense killing intent, it became too terrifying to describe it.

In an instant, Flora and Hades became alert.

Even Hades made his move. Figures in black armor emerged from the ground, but they were not human.

They were shades—chattering ghosts that died in many battlefields. Their bodies weren’t much more than wisps of black vapor but they managed to hold together the sets of scale and steel armors, greaves, helmets and weapons.

Pile and dented shields floated in their smoky hands. Most of the shades were on foot, but they were also shades riding on golden chariots pulled by ghostly black steeds without heads.

However, when the four began to attack, a huge hot ray the looks like it came from the sun, split the two groups into two, halting their movements.

“STOP!!”
