“Wha-!” The king as well as the princess gasps in shock as they heard the words Hein uttered with calm tone as if he was just saying a very natural thing in the world.
The princess wanted to say something but she couldn’t find any words to admonished Hein’s words, so she just hang her head low and kept her silence.
“W,why?” The king said with trembling voice.
“I believe that is the most natural thing to do.” Hein answered as he took some bits of strawberry biscuits and popped it into his mouth. He then continued, “Everyone prioritizes their selves rather than someone they don’t know. This is the way of life in this solitary, cruel world. I’m a human, just a mere human that held some ability….not something that can do anything what they want….like God”
“E,even so…don’t you want to become a hero? A great person that is respected by everyone, even if that someone has only a miniscule ability, they still tried to save and protect all the people they encountered? Don’t you want to become like that?”
Hearing the king’s questions, Hein’s brow frowned.
‘It’s not like I hate helping other people, it’s just that I still have many things to do. I still need to get stronger and stronger to protect the people I want to protect. The power I’ve got right now is just too little.’
If by some chance some player knows what he’s thinking after they knew his current strength, they would really want to put a curse on him and ask for divine punishment!
If his power is considered weak, then what about the strength of the average player that couldn’t even amount a quarter of his real power?
Unfortunately, no one in the vicinity can smack him to death.
‘Also I still need to find Marie and Teach. After I confirmed they’re safety then I can now do the quest I ought to do….like looking for the fire dragon’s tribe~’
For a while, the king and the princess were very anxious when they saw Hein drowning himself from his thoughts. They held some hope that Hein might change his decision but when they heard what he said, they were left dumbfounded from the unexpected response.
“You shouldn’t associate me with those guys. It’s quite unpleasant.”
They could only stare at him with wide eyes opened.
“Y, y, you’re just going to let the demons do what they want!? That’s…..”
As if she couldn’t hold it any longer, the princess released her frustration after hearing Hein’s words. Like a volcano erupting, she stood up while glaring him.
However, she was once again surprised at Hein’s unexpected words while he was calmly eating some biscuits.
“Don’t take my words wrongly. I only said I don’t want to become something like a hero and burdened myself with the accompanying problems, but I never said anything about not fighting them…”
“”EH?””
“It’s not like I’m just going to let the demons run wild, I will still need to do something about them…more like, even if I don’t want it to I will probably…maybe…fight them until one last standing.”
‘….If I want to leave this world and return back to the real world…that is…’
Hein pouted in displeasure as he sipped his tea again. Seeing that sort of Hein, the king and the princess felt they’re heart pounding like crazy…
When the two people present heard the words [ Fight them until one last standing ] they were completely stupefied as they don’t know how to react.
They were struck speechless and stiffened for they know what this meant…if Hein fought the demons, he will not stop until he completely wipe out the enemy or until he died.
Hein, unaware of their thoughts and feelings, continued.
“…even so, I refused to be involved in the war….as much as possible…I too don’t want to be called a hero, my name is enough for me. Being famous might not be a bad idea but I don’t want it. I also need my own freedom. If I really accept that quest of yours then my actions would be limited as if my limbs were being bound by chains. I hate those~ There are still many people like me, if some of them wanted to take that role, bear those enormous burdens and problems then let them do so…..for me, I don’t have any thoughts about bearing any sort of responsibility.”
The two quietly watched Hein for a while until the king let out a dejected sigh.
“Then….I won’t force you anymore.”
Hein ignored him and continued to eat the strawberry biscuits while drinking some tea. Seeing his attitude that really didn’t have any hint of respect towards a king, he could only let out a bitter smile.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Hein! You’re still in the presence of my father, the king! Behave yourself!” The princess scolded.
The king wanted to say that it’s fine but he was too late to do that as he heard Hein’s words that made him stupefied.
“That’s alright, right old man?”
The princess was also taken aback and didn’t know how to react.
“In the first place, the old man have already witness my usual behavior so I would be a fool if I were to still act innocently~”
The two present as well as the people hiding in the room were stunned to Hein’s change. They don’t know whether to laugh or cry upon seeing his rude behavior towards the royalty…
But can they do anything to him? The one who possess unimaginable power that can only be found in the legends? Who knows what mysterious secrets does this innocent looking child still possess?
“That’s right. I think I prefer this attitude.”
The king responded with a radiant smile.
‘This child is much more trustworthy than the people in the court. Although it’s a pity that I can’t recruit him, however as long as he’s the son of Draig he would never turn a blind eye if this kingdom faced a dire situation. It can also give me some relief that he would never turn his blade against us…’ The king thought.
Hein returned the king’s answer with a shrug of his shoulder as he happily devour the strawberry biscuits in front of him.
“….if you really don’t want it then we will just forget about this conversation…by the way, you said that there were people that you must find no matter what, right? Maybe we can help you find them.”
Because the conversation suddenly stops into a standstill, he immediately shifted to another topic.
Hein frowned after hearing the unexpected suggestion. He raised his head and saw the king nodded with his face showing his sincerity.
“……..just a few days ago, I managed to learn the whereabouts of one of my lost friend so I’m thinking of going there after my body returned to normal….the other one, I’m still looking for her but there’s nothing you can help me with…I don’t know her name in this world.”
Just a few days ago, when he opened the [ World News ] to kill for time. He accidentally found the message Marie wanted to give him.
[ World News ]
……………….
[ World ] [ Hero4U ]: Hero, this is Marie. I know that you’re still alive out there and I believe that you were anxiously looking for me. I believe that you wouldn’t die even if you were killed so I will always be waiting here for you. I’m in the Beven’s City. Please come as soon as possible……I need you.
………………..
He was extremely pleased and excited as smile spread across his innocent and cute face. He was so excited and relieved that he even jumped and hopped around like a child, feeling delighted.
The servant and guards that passed his room can hear a childish shout that they subconsciously smile, thinking how cute he was.
However he knew he still couldn’t go and meet her for the moment because of his current appearance.
How would he explain it to her? Should he tell her he just became a phoenix? Even became a Dragon – phoenix hybrid and a new race at that!
What is he, an idiot?
Even if he trusts Marie, it would still garner jealousy and hatred if it were known. Possessing a treasure isn’t a sin but it will bring enormous amount of problems and troubles.
In this cruel world, even if someone does their very best to keep quiet, simply possessing knowledge is a danger all of its own. Hein couldn’t possibly allowed Marie to be endangered … that’s the least thing he wanted.
He can ask the king to bring her to him but didn’t do it.
He hated the idea about him owing anything to another person. Who knows what they will ask in return? There is no free lunch after all.
“I, I see…well if there’s anything I can help with, please feel free to let me know. Knowing your capability, any aid I can give might be inconsequential but if there’s anything I can do, I will do my best.”
Although he’d offered to support him, Hein didn’t nod.
“I greatly appreciate the sentiment but please don’t mind me”
“Why? Maybe there’s something you need help with then…”
“….well, if that time comes then I will surely won’t hold anything back~”
He said while giving the king a confident smile.
