Chapter 62 - Elimination Trial: Free for All, Part 3

Roberion watched with anxiety as the green humanoid tried to disengage the near undead to focus on him. Percival removed the leather binding him to Shining Crown and reached the ground. Walking a little forward, he took out the bombs from the bag.

It took only a second for the orb to transform into the [Hellish Plasma Cannon]. The sleek black metallic body of it reflected the purple light all around it. Aside from the artificial light made by the lamp posts and the illumination of the buildings, the purple runes were the only ones illuminating this dark place, the selection ground the Cerulean Baroness chose as his place for the experiment.

Now outside the building, Roberion felt in the back of his mind that he really didn't know where they were; they could be underground or inside the mountains, just beyond the body of water he saw in the fiznault village. His musings weren't stopping him from acting as he readied the triangular muzzle of the weapon; the weapon was the size of his torso. Now that Percival had sapped some of his strength, mounting the rifle on his arm was taking a hit on his stamina; leaning the weapon of the roothorn helped, but he needed to be fast.

The green giant was already disengaging the many undead, slicing them with the help of his sword, but the brute was way slower than Roberion; the only reason the undead hadn't clawed and bitten him to death was because of his strength and the long range of his weapons. The green humanoid didn`t have a chance of reaching Roberion on time before the null took a shot at him, but if anything, the brute wasn't dumb. Percival watched with horror as the giant lifted the floating greatsword; he had an inkling of what would happen next.

"Sir, the orc will launch the sword!", Percival threw two of the bombs at the group and took his small shield, his fur standing on end, ready to defend Roberion and Shining Crown.

Roberion heard the capybara knight clearly, but he had no time; his mana was eaten by the weapon like a voracious beast, and more than forty percent of his mana was taken out. He felt the gun could take more, but the weapon itself guided Roberion to stop, giving a warning that if he kept giving the weapon mana, the explosive mode would start. Probably this will be a medium VII-tier shot; giving more mana would be peak, I think. Anyway, this is a test. Roberion finished his musing and squeezed the trigger, the activation of the enchantment [Plasmatic Hell] activating automatically.

The sleak-black weapon that reflected the purple light of the runes now started to get a blue glow on its components, like some sort of mechanism was being activated. The heaviest concentration of lightning was on its triangular muzzle, where the front of the gun looked like a blue triangle. The energy concentrated, and a greenish-bluish plasma blast was shot. All this happened in milliseconds.

As the great sword of the orc, as Percival said, was launched against Roberion, it wasn't as fast as the plasma blast. If the explosives Percival threw before had already changed a little in the direction of the sword, the blast changed much more, and the trajectory was now more directed toward Percival instead of targeting Roberion.

The plasma blast itself was monstrous; after five meters, the blast expanded. If the concentrated blast was almost twenty centimeters before, it has expanded to two meters now. That expansion changed the trajectory of the great sword as it hit the great sword before hitting the group of fighters.

As the plasma aproximated, the orc tried to dash, using his second great sword that he wielded as a defense. The undead clawed his vulnerable back in the meantime; the blond and dwarf weren't so lucky, the blast hitting them square on, liquifying them like they were human sized blood meat packs; the destruction was monstrous. The only thing Roberion felt similar to was that if someone took a flamethrower and hit a plastic with it, the difference was that his enemies had at least early VII-tier bodies. It was normal for a similar tier material to cut his enemies, to wound them, but to liquify like them into a goop substance?! That was too much.

The plasma blast continued to consume all it could around it, like an inside mechanism had been activated. The blast didn't simply get through and continue to liquify everything ahead; it stopped and expanded its blast radius, almost a hundred meters around it. From all the targets, the only survivors are two simple guards on the left who were too far away to get hit by the blast; the orc that was already on the far right; his dash saved him from lethal damage; but his sword was destroyed and warped; most of it was liquified; and what was solid shrank in itself.

The orc lost his right arm and most of his left arm. The sacrifice of his sword saved his life, but that wasn't enough to secure it; his chest had burns, the same as his face, but it seemed more like a consequence of the liquified sword that transmitted some of its heat from the contat with the plasma.

Roberion was almost yelling to Percival to finish the orc, but to his surprise, looking at the side where his buddy had fallen, the sword was launched more strongly than he thought, the sword crossed the capybara body in the middle, and the shield was cut in two. He was already vanishing into sparks; the sword didn't penetrate his body completely, showing that the capybara tanked the hit.

Why did—no. He protected me. Roberion noticed that Percival didn't defend the hit for nothing; if he remembered the knight's previous position, the only conclusion was that the sword changed direction, even with all the diversion the bomb and the blast did. The sword was a little corroded by the plasma blast, but it was only glancing damage. Somehow, yes, as Percival said, that "orc" changed the trajectory of the sword. I need to finish that brute; he is dangerous.

The new undead ignored the fallen and attacked the survivors with prejudice. Roberion saw with fear the orc injecting something on his neck, all of which indicated it was a drug. His body changed automatically as the substance entered his bloodstream; the regeneration of him was monstrous, like the one he saw in the regenerative undog. But it wasn't only regeneration; the veins of the orc expanded, and the creature screamed with primal rage.

"Sorry buddy, I have to get the fuck out of here!", Roberion transformed the [Hellish Plasma Cannon] into an orb and put on his space bag. Shining Crown was already turning around and trying to run ahead.

The orc was already standing up; weirdly, the leg and arm of the brute seemed to have some difficulty regenerating, but before he could crawl after them, the undead ganged up on him, biting him and clawing the green giant. The wound kept accumulating, but the orc ignored the pain and tried to run after them. Lucky for Roberion, the undead didn't let him do that. Growing frutasted and more ferocious, the orc attacked the undead. The other two survivors were already dead in the meantime.

Shining Crown was already running, trying to evade the fractured sections of the street, following the direction the dwarf and the doll-like creatures ran. Roberion kept looking back with fear, afraid the Orc was following him. I need to ask Percival about orcs when I have the ti—. Roberion is hit by guns suddenly. Near him, an earth spike hit the floor. Roberion looked up; there was a group throwing spells and shooting at him. He patted Shining Crown and hushed him to go faster.

The spells did glance damage; he took out his spear and tried to redirect most of the attacks, but it wasn't enough; he and the roothorn got wounded by the glancing damage. By increasing their distance from the building, the spells and shoots stopped.

Roberion kept his guard up; he put his spear inside the space bag and took out a mana potion, taking a big swig. He took a regenerative potion too, but it wasn't for him. He tried to drop it on the wounds of the roothorn; it was a difficult task as he was mounted and in motion. But he did drop some of the wounds of the plant beast. It also seemed that the roothorn had good regeneration; it wasn't like the regenerative undog or his [Behemoth Skin] that already regenerated him, but it was great nonetheless. A dozen minutes and the roothorn would be better; the glancing damage didn't seem to be a danger to the creature.

As he looked at Shining Crown, he felt the die was deactivated; it seemed Percival had already vanished; he wouldn't summon him yet, though. Roberion wanted a safer place to reorganize and get a better strategy.

That was crazy—just a fucking drug—and that monster recovered from the brink of death. At least the [Hellish Plasma Cannon] showed what it could do; I'm sure a blast head on and that orc would turn into gunk. But dammit, that sword thrown was crazy. Did he use some teleknisis or some sword spell to guide that great sword? If Percival didn't protect me, I would be dead. I can't underestimate these folks; most of these guys are fodder, but a bunch of them will be a real threat.

Wait, there is something wrong with that place just ahead. Roberion saw that the purple runes in that location were somewhat obfuscated, like dampened somewhat; he didn't know the reason, but he felt an inkling of what it could be.

Nearing the location, a warehouse the size of a house can be seen; there were signs of destruction around it, but the warehouse still stood strong. Looking far ahead on the street, he kept seeing holes and destruction on it caused by explosions. The dwarf and the small creature probably kept fighting in that direction. He wasn't that far from where he fought the group, probably twenty minutes of distance, but nothing could be assured that if he kept traveling in the city, he wouldn't see new threats.

Roberion got near the house. Nearing it, a light purple rune activated, and the door opened. Still keeping his guard up, the null entered the building, preparing the fireball spell if he needed to and the glove enchantment ready to be activated if he wanted.

After entering the warehouse, all the walls displayed light purple runes; suddenly the door closed, and the runes diminished their light, but Roberion felt that, looking through the windows of the warehouse, something was in the air, like some sort of weight. It was difficult to describe, but he didn't need to as the Cerulean Baroness voice spoke all around him.

"Congratulations! You reached a safe house; there are three hundred twenty nine participants alive. The place will be protected and hidden for six hours. If you entered in a group, a selection will need to occur, or all of you will be eliminated in thirty minutes."

Roberion looked around the place with alarm; he was afraid that the Shining Crown was counting as a participant, but the Cerulean baroness kept talking after a few seconds.

"Only one participant is detected; enjoy your stay", was everything the baroness said, her silence assaulting the place soon after.

" I don't think it was the real baroness speaking; at least she wasn't really on it; it was like a robot speaking, not like how humanely she talked with me sometimes. Anyway, it's time to analyze the situation and get a better plan."
