Not waiting a second, Roberion activated the dice while running from the beast. His Natural Born Killer perk did not activate, only increasing the difficulty of his next assault. It seems I need to kill the creature myself, have to keep that in mind, it was all Roberion could think before doing a quick look at the beast. The size of the beast was only what let Percival manifest again before the next attack. The feline had to do a half turn to try to attack again. Its surprise attack seemed like a done thing for the beast.
Roberion didn’t wait a second, running away since the beast showed up. Employing the help of Percival, he removed an entire crate of explosives. They tried to open it, but the beast was already after them. Getting in their fighting stances with a distance between the beast, they could take a better look.
If someone said the beast was an evolution of the wildcats they fought before, they would be right and wrong. The feline appearance changed to resemble more of a panther, mouth full of teeth, a body with more muscles, the leathery skin was still there but now a darker color, a brown almost reaching black, eight times the size of the wildcats from before. The eyes of the beast seemed full of power, the claws longer, with a blue ethereal glow, the promise of painful corrosion still alive in Roberion's memories.
The feline didn’t wait much before trying to strike with its claw. Her focus was on Roberion, focusing on his weapon. He uses his speed to the extreme, trying to evade the attack to the left. But the evolved wildcat wasn’t only stronger, it was faster. Roberion’s evasion made him escape a critical attack, but the claws of the beast, elongated by the magic, were going after him, trying to reach again for the distance, legs powering up the sudden movement.
Without any other alternative, Roberion does a clumsy block with his bone shield, the damage was reduced, only the strong force of the attack hurting Roberion’s arm. But the shield was almost torn to pieces. The bone exterior was barely holding together, the corrosion worse than before. If the quality of materials hadn’t changed, that could have been the end. Another one of this type of attack and the shield would shatter and the claws would cut him. This beast's threat is on another level. Is in situations like this I don’t know if I’m happier or angrier in this piece of shit system, it doesn’t show any useful information about this beast, Roberion thought as a sudden explosion hit the evolved wild cat.
During all the confrontation between the two, Percival wasn’t only looking at the battle. A pile of landmine is near his feet. The crate lay forcibly opened behind him; the time was just enough for a small pile of eight mines to be carried over. But that was enough for now. Percival didn’t wait for the mine to hit, he hit again and again. Seeing that, Roberion took a chance and tried to cut one of the beast’s legs.
Roberion tried to put all his weight behind the attack, focusing on one of the hind legs of the beast. The attack hit right on the leg, in the middle of the hamstrings. It didn’t penetrate much, showing the resistance of the skin of the evolved wildcat. Only the sudden pause of the animal made possible for the attack to do moderate damage. Not waiting for the cat to attack him, Roberion takes out his blade as blood flows out, not much but enough. Not long after that, the last mine hit the feline.
Annoyed, the wildcat feels that one of the hind legs is weak, but he ignores it. The mines seemed a bigger threat. Most of his skin was thorn blood seeping from the wounds. The damage wasn’t heavy, but if all his body was like that, he would be in danger. A little slower than before, the cat rushed at Percival, who was already trying to get more landmines.
With little time to think, Percival rolled to the right and braced for impact. The slash was enough to cut part of his armor and gloves, corrosion seeping in. Granted that the battle was already bad, it got worse. Percival just felt a pair of claws attacking his back. It wasn’t enough to cut the armor, but it left grooves. Behind him, a trio of wildcats are alternating the attacks, slashing his back.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Before Percival could do anything, the evolved wildcat arched its back and put all its weight on its left claw, hitting him. The attack didn’t simply cut; it severed Percival’s arm off. White sparks danced the beast's paws. Percival, not feeling the sudden disproportional weight, fell on his right. The only thing he could do was grovel and try to get up. The creature, however, didn’t finish him off, fearing to have some of its food stolen. Claws pushed forward, the beast using its size to its advantage. The attack focused on having at least one invader dead or incapacitated.
It worked. The wildcat in the middle wrongly tried to evade to his left, only to shock with the other wildcat. The crushing paws of the beast instantly killed the small feline. Feeling fear, the right wildcat just ran away from the fight, leaving the surviving wildcat to its fate.
Roberion, all the while, after his brief clash with the beast. Was thinking of ways to challenge the evolved cat, I…I just can’t fight these beasts one to one, they just seem to get worse. I didn’t want it happening again this soon. The explosives should be enough, but the landmine is just six crates now, not counting the one Percival is using. It’s time to test these dynamites.
The beast was fighting the small wildcat, although the small one showed promise. The meddling in its hunt was unforgivable. Already bored with its fruitless attempts, it was time to finish the little one. As its paws came crashing down, the beast felt a small pressure on its back before vanishing. Not comprehending it, the creature looked back, not seeing anything. Fastly, she looked upwards. That was when she saw the furless humanoid creature. The humanoid was upside down in mid-air; its gaze was full of malice. His hands were in the strange leather thing on his side.
The humanoid looked weak, trying to do damage to her with his punny claw before. The claw seemed similar to the one her breed has, but had a weird pointy format. Already flexing her legs, a surprising thing happened: a tree log came crashing down in her head. Her head was in pain, her vision blurred, things shocking in her skin. For a brief moment, she saw the punny, treacherous human running away.
“GOOOOOO PERCIVAL, DO YOUR MAGIC!!!!”, said Roberion, looking away and bolting.
Percival stumbling got close enough to the beast. The only thing he was carrying was a landmine in his hand. Unlocking the pressure plate was a headache, but it worked. “'I’M A MISSILE”, was all Percival could utter, before the beast paw tried to cut Percival in the back, as he hugged the beast.
BOOM! the landmine explosion created a cascade effect, igniting the explosion of the dynamite. The explosion was so big that the landmines that were near also detonated, creating another huge explosion. The explosion force made Roberion’s ear ring and bleed. With vision blurred, Roberion looked as the smoke started to dissipate. With die in hand, he activated, taking Percivals weapons, he set a fight stance and before going near to the last location of the beast.
The beast that was darker brown, is now black, white and red. Bones exposed, blood seeping, the beast was dying, but Roberion made sure of it as he pierced the beast's eye, although it had some resistance, the rapier penetrated, ending the beast, the small wildcats body simply erased, the only proof they existed was darker spots in the soil.
“Percival, let’s give you some more explosives and harvest this intruder and then the gecko”, the gecko corpse got some damage from the explosion, but being far from the center of explosion only gave it more wounds.
‘System, what material can I harvest from this creature?’, Roberion asked the system near the feline, his nape getting hot. It wasn’t too long before the system answered.
“The following materials can be used to upgrade your Null biology. VERGE Mundane materials: peak-stage brain matter, peak-stage magic blood, peak-stage muscle; peak-stage ligament; peak-stage tendon. WARNING: RISK OF TRUE DEATH”
