“Sir are you planning on stealing the eggs?”, Percival asked with caution.
“That’s obvious. With some of these eggs I will incarnate, I guess. Do you think that the research station would be easier? There will be worse than here. Imagine thousands of that leader Null all of them working together, I will be either a pariah to be killed, or someone to be brainwashed and used as fodder”, Roberion whisper, with barely suppressed rage.
“It’s that seems perilous, it’s indeed seems wrong doing that to a being that didn’t attack us—”
“Yet.”
“Yes sir, but let me finish. Its wrong, but worse of all its dangerous, if such egg is already made of early-VIII tier, imagine this magnificent creature. It will be way worse.”
“Yes, I know the risks. I heard what you said about the size of this tube creature. Lets call fellworm. I don’t have other options for now, and nobody said I would need to fight this creature. I just need these eggs.”
Percival gets a little angry.
“That creature will obviously follow her dear eggs. What type of creature would let people steal their children?”
“A creature full of explosives and soil around it.”
“This creature is obviously the maker of these chains of tunnels, made with most proficiency”, Percival said with forced patience.
“I doubt it will have an easy time in that exit. The damage needed to destroy it must be more than this fellworm is capable.”
“How would you carry these spherical eggs?”
“With the…”, touching the bag, Roberion remembers the enchantments of the bag. “Tier dependent…yes it won’t work. Dammit, I can never have an easy time. We will just bag it with some clothing and run for it”
“Sir you are being stubborn. I cannot die, but you will—”
“I’m faster now. You say that as if I have a choice. I have to take risks, you know it. I have a countdown in that damned quest, probably my head will explode or something if I fail—”, Percival rise his hand, “—yes maybe it won’t, but as I said already, these guys are using us, if we aren’t useful we are dead, like the not modified Nulls, used as ration to feed the dogs”.
“The problem is the system. It doesn’t want to say how many eggs maybe is one, maybe is twenty. It’s like it wants to see me dead”, as he said that, he looks around the area. It seemed to have at least fifty eggs. “No way we can steal all of them, maybe 4 or five we can, more than that there is no way”, as he takes a look, he tried to find the location of the exit. “Alright Percival, help me take a look around here, maybe our plan will change”.
Looking around the area only put more fear in Roberion’s heart. The monstrous size of the creature and the hard way to the exit made it too hard to steal the eggs and make a run for it. The use of bombs could help somewhat, but it was not enough. Seeing no better way, he asked to Percival to show the end of the beast.

Seeing it was a more efficient way of arguing against the eggs stealing plan. The head and end had the crevice and hole in it. It wasn’t hard to imagine eyes or fangs showing up in this beast, ready to kill him. The exit seemed worse than Percival had said. It would take some time before he could run away if he stole the eggs near the exit.
Going really close to the beast the first time, to see the exit, he finally took a good look at the runes of its body. It was like Percival had said; the sensation seemed like the harvest process, but near it Roberion could see little lines going out. He tried following the thread of the lines, as he looked near it, he saw that these lines followed the eggs.
Seemingly fascinated with the runes, Roberion lost his worries and started studying it. The short lines seemed to exit the runes, as the runes lit, when the line already left they turned off. The sequence seemed to be purposeful, as if a piano were played. The trance though was too much, he accidentally touched the being, his whole body seemed to become energized, a connection with the fellworm was made, he didn’t think of anything else, he only had enough mind to say, “Percival…we…a distraction..I here…run later”.
The process compared to the harvest was like the difference between a kid making a sand castle, to an artisan making the castle from clay. His body seemed to develop from inside, instead of the harvest method that forced his body to destroy itself and remake with new materials, this one seemed to improve the materials already inside his body.
It seemed the eggs were receiving the same benefit, although now that he was connected near and directly to the fellworm, most of their benefits were taken from them. The fellworm didn’t seem to notice. Probably the sheer quantity of eggs was enough of a cover to do it. Unknown to them, the worm had the double of that number burred in the ground.
The only problem was the time. Even though Roberion didn’t care about time in his current state, the time was elapsing. Percival used that time wisely. Having access to Roberion’s bag, he withdrew explosives and started to make the distraction Roberion suggested, even if he didn’t, Percival already got a knack for explosives. He had ample time for it in this short while, enough at least to be an amateur with a eye for destruction.
Percival planted dynamites and used all the flammable liquid he had all around the place. Luckily, it didn’t seem to have anything that could produce sparks there. Luck or everything was already ransacked or disintegrated. He left out the landmines, having only two crates left, using all the dynamites and flammable liquid was better, for fights his use of landmines was the most useful. Finishing his job, he just waited and looked after Roberion.
Roberion trance and improvement was the best time he had in short life, he was restored little by little, improved by the same amount. Until his body reached a limit, and the unthinkable happened, he started to withdraw materials from inside the worm.
The fellworm felt the strangeness. Its children would be born in the next four decades. It didn’t make sense for them to wake this soon. The materials harvested from her were a normal process for the birth of fellworm. It would lose some of their harvested materials, but these materials were lower tier compared to their own body composition. They were just enough for them to advance. The fellworm was calm and searched egg by egg to see if they were fine; the process was slow until one hour it found the culprit. Some of their eggs have lost some of their improvement. There the fellworm found a way bigger egg. That wasn’t one of their eggs. Furious, the fellworm started to move slowly and recoil.
“Agh, what is this pain?”, his body seemed already past verge state, but due to the end of the connection between him and the fellworm, he was incomplete, though enough to be considered a next tier being, as for incarnation he just took a quick glance, the system informed something about class and countdown, but he didn’t have any time for that.
Percival helped him up, finally Roberion noticed the cadence of the vibration was lost. Now there was only the vibration of a giant beast being woken up.
“We have to go Sir Roberion”, Percival said urgently, lightning a flare in his hand.
