Session 19

The name tag was purple, it could only mean one thing.

World Boss.

World Bosses were bosses that appeared around the world on a map and it didn't have to be defeated by a single party or guild. It would and should be defeated by the coordination of many individual players coming together to destroy it and receiving rewards depending on their contribution.

The surprise didn't last very long. It took a few seconds and suddenly spells were being sent at the golem.

Videos, messenges and forum posts were being made live.

Players from all around the map congregated and started to attack.

Of course Sunstar couldn't lose, the moment the stupor ended, they were fighting against the golem too.

The golem started with basic attacks, but all area ones. A slap here, a kick there, a punch over there…

When he lost 10% of hp that things started to shake up.

He started getting tea pot monsters from inside him and throwing hot liquid on the players, then he would throw and destroy the monster, dealing an area of damage.

Every 10% after he would incorporate another monster into his attack, always using it and then destroying it.

A lot of players were dying but a lot of players were also coming to help.

Sunstar was quiet during the process, mostly because Fayt was quiet, like he was trying to do many things at the same time.

Luckily they have been fighting for weeks now and have gotten pretty good at fighting as a group.

The golem was now at 50% and the players that were below a certain average of level and technique, died.

Excitement was in the air. This was not the first world boss, but in Andras Kingdom it was only the second.

The first one was a massive beast summoned by a warlock cult wanting to destroy the capital.

The players wondered what rewards they would get. A minion is almost certain, as all the other world bosses dropped minions to all participants who survived.

A minion is a pet-like item that follows the players and usually has one passive ability. No skill was needed to use it or to keep it. It was very nifty.

The golem kept getting his hp lowered and it seemed as if no new pattern would happen.

40%

30%

20%

10%

Then, he fell.

On one of the piles of the Scrapyard he fell, as if sitting and relaxing.

World Boss The Professor defeated

Most damage Tasha - Sunstar -

Last damage Kakeru

.

.

.

A list of the best appeared under the boss name. Sunstar Guild appeared only once, with Tasha's most damage.

It was a good day.

Mitras however went to the boss's body and touched it.

Golemcraft Skill available

Learn it?

-G-guys! There's more!

All the players in the area went to him and did the same. Some accepted, others went to the forum to tell everyone. None of the Sunstar accepted it.

The spoils however were quite good.

Ingots of a mysterious metal and a minion. A teapot minion with the inventory skill. You could put things inside it no matter the size. It had 15 spaces.

Sunstar wanted to go back and talk to the dolls, but there were too many eyes around, so they went back to grinding.

It took a week for them to finally see the dolls. With a new skill unlocked a bunch of players interested came to Andras Kingdom only to get it, not only that but the people who started playing just to make a build around golems.

-Wow, you guys did it!

Clap, clap, clap, clap. The dolls gave them an ovation.

-Now Scrapyard can be safer for us.

-Yeah, there will be safe areas now.

-Maybe there'll be more of us!

-That would be cool.

The dolls talked between themselves. It eas rather cute, until…

Sunstar guild did a great service for Puppets

Race unlocked for all

-Yes! We're getting bigger!

-It's the second race we unlocked, what other races were unlocked?

-I remember halflings and gnomes.

-I remember half blood, it was a big message because it was a party not a guild that unlocked that one.

Mitras didn't remember any of that, he hadn't received any world notification.

-H-how did you guys see that? It didn't show up for me.

-Of course it wouldn't, imagine in the middle of a boss fight a notification appeared. Open your menu and go to the notification tab, you can filter it to appear the world ones.

So he did and many showed up, races being unlocked, weapons being created, castles being created and destroyed, there were already guild wars.

----------------------------------------

Mitras was waiting for Bjarke on his bed at the barracks. But when the man got to the room he didn't get ready to climb the bed.

-What's wrong?

-Come on, let's train!

-What?

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

-Hmm, yeah, well. I was thinking, I kinda left it all to you about the Mana Manipulation, and it kinda got you anxious right? I shouldn't have, I should have kept trying on my own. And you know we always stay in bed during the whole night, which I love, but if I want to be captain, maybe I need to keep training?

-Wow, You thought all that?

-I've been thinking a lot these days. I want us to be equal, you know…

Mitras blushed at that.

-Ok, let's go.

He put on some clothes and both went to the training grounds.

-S-so, here is what I know…

Mitras then gave him a run down of chakra and ki and mana he understood about from anime and mangas and the like.

-You know so much, you should write a book.

-M-me?!

-Yeah! I bet the post would love it! They would even pay you well if you could have a book on Mana Manipulation that trainees or seniors could learn from.

-O-oh, I'll think about it.

-Ok! Tell me again about chakras!

The night was spent like a lecture.

One night.

Two nights.

Three nights.

Every night they would talk about it and then meditate. Sometimes Bjarke would sleep, sometimes he would be too agitated.

What Mitras didn't know was that Bjarke did talk to someone about the book.

-Mitras! Mitras!

-H-hi Petras, is everything ok?

-Are you really doing it?

-Doing what?

-The book! The boook!

-What book?

-Oh my god, Bjarke told me you talked about it.

-O-oh oohhh yeah I remember.

-How about it? Are you doing it?

-Oh

He did have the Drawing and the Scribing skills and some SP lying around. You know what, he should improve the town he lives in.

-Y-yeah, I'm gonna do it.

-Yes!!

-Oh, hmmm no need, I'm doing it for Bjarke, I'll give him the book and then he can give it to you guys after he tries to get the Skill.

Petras then ran up to him and hugged him.

-You're too good!! I'll be sure to get some reward ok!

-N-no nee-

-Shh, it's decided.

A month was spent like that, during the morning and afternoon he would use browser to look up chakra points and draw them, he would write about ants and their behavior.

He would then use this info and the drawing to explain his Mana Manipulation to Bjarke.

It didn't take long for him to get to Expert.

When he got it, both him and Bjarke sat in front of each other cross legged, holding hands. He then sent his mana ants towards Bjarke, something he couldn't really do before and towards Axis.

It took a few hours, but…

-I got it! Mana Manipulation Trained 0!

-It was fast!

-I did have a great teacher this past month.

Fooling around on the training grounds was almost a habit now, whenever they finished whatever they were doing, Bjarke would pounce on Mitras and the two wouldn't separate.

It took 2 weeks to compile all the info in a neat way and make a proper book. He even did his own book.

Using the fibers of the vines he made the paper and Grant cut a piece of very soft and light wood so he could make the cover.

The cover was an army of ants walking on a leaf.

Blueprint Adquire Ant Colony Mana Manipulation Cultivation Book

He decided to make two, one for his guild and one for the post.

----------------------------------------

-Oh my Mitras, it's beautiful.

Petras had the book in her hands.

-You have no idea how much this helps us, really thank you!

She was almost crying.

-No, no, you guys don't know how much I got from you.

They gave him Bjarke. What was a book to that.

-Here, your reward.

It was an insignia, with the town colors and a star on it.

-Thank you?

-Now you're an honorary member of the guards! You have a similar rank to captain, you can call some of our own to party with you. You can use our facilities of course and train with us whenever you want.

-O-oh my…. Oh, that's a lot.

-I don't think you understand how much this…

She points at the book

-Gives us.

-I-I'm glad I can help.

-And I'm glad I can help you! It's perfect.

----------------------------------------

-You got to Expert?! That's amazing! And that book we can actually call anyone doesn't matter if they know mana manipulation or not to the Guild!

Tasha was quite excited.

-Wow Mitras you're amazing, I didn't even know you could write a book in game.

Tagmar put his hand on his shoulder and squeezed a bit. Mitras thinks he saw him bite his lips but he avoided eye contact because he was still feeling guilty by his thoughts that time.

-We have to make a contract, so people won't just enter the guild, get the skill and leave. Is there a way to do that?

-Browser!

Everyone said it.

-Scribing appears to be the right Skill, but if we want to keep them for longer time it should be at least Expert. Then as long as they are trained in the Skill they can't leave the Guild for no reason.

The best way to level up Scribing was by writing so he decided to write a few books.

Dmitri never went to university, but he always heard people complaining about the last project, the writing project. He always wanted to do something like this, but never got the courage to enter a university as he never thought he would be good enough for one.

He did Handicraft, so he made books on all things handicrafts could do. Using both scribing and Drawing as well as the Handicraft Skill to make the project he wrote books on: jewelcrafting, leather crafting, woodworking, tailoring, weaving, pottery, knitting, crochet, dancing, Rolling Beetles as well as all the other initial enemies of Tairo, even to falcons.

It was a massive undertaking that took a lot of research, both in game and in real. Trying and failing.

It took 3 in-game months but he finished.

Blueprint Adquire Mitras Guide to… Set

Each book would give a permanent xp boost to the specific skill it taught until a certain level of expertise.

He was now Expert in many Skills, something he thought would take a lot longer.

He also did a second book to each of them, always gifting the guards one of them.

All the books were written and handcrafted by himself. And one more thing, all of them were enchanted.

After sending his mana ants to Bjarke, Mitras thought he could do it too for the items he made. And so he tried. And he succeeded.

It was amazing. He felt so good after he finished them.

After getting Expert in a Skill, it felt like it would be more flexible and you would be able to mix it better with others.

He should dance with the mana ants next time, maybe something will happen. Maybe, maybe he should level charm, he might be able to mix it with Dance, what would then happen?
