Tario.
A coastal city of the United Kingdom of Andras, a kingdom known for its large forests and said to have special relationship with fairies, ents and nymphs. If it's true of not only people close to the royals would know.
A lot of characters that want to be druids started in cities in this kingdom, as well as people that want to unblock elves as a race to choose from, as elves usually are a forest race.
Tairo, unlike Molsa, doesn't export any kind of special wood or anything like that so it isn't very much chosen by players as a starting point.
A blue light appears at the temple.
-Hmmm…
Looking around Dmitri finds himself alone at the temple, the town is so small the cleric is probably doing something outside.
The temple is very simple and inside it has three statues. The goddess of light, the god of darkness and the average goddess.
These three are the deities of the game, it is said they have a competition every few years to see who yields more power. It's probably a foreshadow of a big update.
None of them are considered evil per se, although those who believe in the goddess of light usually do go along with those who believe in the god of darkness.
Dmitri is wearing basic clothing, white shirt, brown trousers and black boots. 15 gold pieces clinks in a pouch on his side. This should be enough to start with. He hopes.
As he exits the temple, the cleric is cleaning the front of the temple with a broom.
-Ah! A new Traveller, how nice!
-Yes, thank you.
Should he bow his head? Is this this type of culture? He doesn't know. He bolts. What to do?
The city was more of a european kind than an oriental kind so bowing would be very strange. Maybe he should have shaken his hand?
Now, what to do? Running out of the temple he gets up to a plaza with a fountain in it. Starting to think, he remembers first what his priorities are. Get the skill he wants!
First Tame skill.
Dmitri did look around so he knew how to get the tame skill. The easiest way is to get food and give it to rabbite or another animal, but he will be an insect build. He needs something he can cast to tame, as he has no idea what insect eats, would he use sugar, honey, old pineapple? It would depend on the insect?
He found that the guard posts usually have falcons that are trained, and he can get a trained skill there by helping take care of the falcons. He just need to go there and ask about it, that's what the tutorial said.
So he goes to a guard, they are easy to find as they all have the same uniform/armour with green colour.
-H-hello.
Ah, uniformed guys are hot and these ones are in green. Dmitri is instantly enamoured.
-Yes Traveller, how can I help you?
-How c-can I find the guard post?
The guard is nice and has a nice smile.
-Go to the north, the building has the flags of the kingdom of Andras around it and usually you can hear the newbies training inside.
-Thank you.
Dmitri goes to touch the guards arm, classic move, but he doesn't really, classic Dmitri.
Sad he goes to the guard post, but he does note the players going about, it's not many, so there's no one shouting trying to find something or trying to find party members, it's quite peaceful. He likes it.
Getting to the guard post Dmitri knocks the door before entering.
-Excuse me…
There are some people walking about but there is clearly a reception. A very pretty woman stands there. So he walks up to her.
-Hi, hello, hmm I'd like some help.
-Hi! Welcome, of course, how can we help you Traveller?
-I'd like to learn the Tame skill please.
-That is an apprenticeship skill you can learn by entering the corresponding workshop. For the moment it is 1 gold piece to enter the apprenticeship and it takes 3 days to teach you the Trained skill. How about that?
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
-Yes, I'd like that please.
She passes a form and Dmitri completes it with his username, he can also put the name of his party as well of his guild, but in his case, all of them are blank, except for the username:
Mitras
The name he has been using for all his games.
-Okay, your registration has been completed, is there anything else I can help you with?
-N-no, about when I should be here?
-Yes, I'm sending you right now all the info you need, because it's an animal related apprenticeship you will take the whole day for it, equipment will be handed by us and anything needed. You don't need to worry about anything except coming here and wanting to learn.
Despite being very to the point, she seemed very chirpy.
Time dilation meant that in real life there's a few hours to start the apprenticeship, while in the game there would be 24 hours till it starts.
Dmitri then starts walking to another guard.
-H-hi, is there a guild for arts or performance?
-Hmmm… Now that you mention it, there was talk of making one but you have to talk to Brunhilda about it. She's the one who talked about it, you'll find her at her atelier, it's the colourful house at the end of the west street from the fountain.
Nodding, he wanted the guard to touch his shoulder. Human touch, he misses it, even the ones he knows he never had.
Getting to the fountain in the middle of the town he can see the temple he started, he also sees that this is the place players put their temporary shops and it's by looking at one selling barbecue on a stick that he realizes he is hungry, not he in real life, but his character.
By spending a few copper he happily walks away with a few sticks of barbecue.
The house was truly colourful, someone others to know it. Dmitri knocked on the door. Then knocked again.
-Yes yes yes coming. How can I help you?
A dishevelled woman answered the door.
-H-hi, I'm sorry, I'm trying to find a place to learn the Dance skill.
Dmitri remembers the class dancer that can buffs and debuffs from the big franchise First Fantasy and he thinks it will pair well with his pets. He can buff them and they can fight.
-It's here!
An ominous glint passes her eyes.
-Come, come my dear.
She pulls me in.
The inside of the house is an immense quantity of artwork of all types, from paintings to jewellery.
She pulls me to one room that seems to be completely empty.
-This is the Ballroom, where the practoces happen.
-D-do a lot of classes happen?
-Well, no. But one day they will, you just need one to start.
The glint appears again.
-So you want to learn to dance?
-Y-yes, how much would it be?
-5 gold!
-F-five?!
-Well of course, I will give you a crash course on body movement and you get on the same day the trained in Dance skill.
-W-well if it's like that, ok then.
Brunhilda showed me techniques to increase flexibility and elasticity for the body, even telling me there are skills for it, which are mostly techniques about stretching and contorting the body. Then she taught me poses, as if this was a yoga class, but always showing me the parts of the body that are being used, like the muscles.
By the night we did the ballet, she said I wouldn't be technically trained in it but I would understand my body better and better, then I just had to practise.
-You're a Traveller so we'll continue.
And so we did through the night, going through the ballet, the salsa and finally the waltz.
adquire Dance skill
Of course this could only happen in a game, but it did feel like Dmitri did a lot of work. Soon he would start the apprenticeship, the rays of the morning could be seen already.
He stayed all night! Could Brunhilda be alright?!
She looked fine…
-T-thank you so much. I learned a lot from you.
-O sweetie you're welcome, now you're part of the resistance!
-T-the what?
-The art resistance, I will make this town have it's own art guild, it's not gonna be this backwater.
Fire could be seen in her eyes.
-O-ok…
-I'm sure I'll have something for you soon, but for now, shoo, I'm full of energy and I need to do more art!
That's how Dmitri was thrown out of the colourful house.
It was morning, maybe an hour before the apprenticeship. He should buy equipment…
-Hi what's your level in training in light armor?
-Hello do you have training in medium armor?
-Hi dear, any training in any weapon?
Dmitri forgot he needed training in many things if he wanted to use these many things. He had 2 skill points, 1 saved for Tame skill. The last one would be for a healing skill, maybe medicine or light spellcasting.
He decided to make his own adventurer pack.
He bought a big backpack, some rations, a bedroll, one tent, one book and writing kit, rope, waterskin, flint and steel and a cleaning kit. This as well as another pair of clothing came to 5 gold in total
With that he thought he would be ready for most everything. The Kingdom of Andras was not known for being cold so he didn't need to worry about that.
