CHAPTER 26
Assassin of the right kind
Nora’s part (lvl 60 assassin s)
I am sneaking around the place right now. However, I can’t find anything I can do here. Thankfully and with a little bit of surprise, people can’t recognize that I am not one of them. They just treat me like one of the soldiers there. It’s both relieving and annoying at the same time. A person who I could probably slay in one combo is currently making me do physical training as a punishment for something that I don’t know what I did wrong of. Honestly, everything inside me tells me to end his very existence at this moment, but I know that will totally blow my cover. For now, I gotta keep my cat inside my bag. I can’t let the harsh world get to the cute being.
“Hey! Your legs are too loose, tighten up kid.” he says as he hits my left leg. I feel very offended, but I gotta keep my patience up. Can’t blow my cover. No cat’s going out now. After an excruciating 30 minutes, he let me go from the absurd physical training he said would get me stronger. I don’t feel any bit stronger, so I guess mmm… he is wrong I guess? Maybe it takes a really long time to be shown in my body. Obviously, I am not going to do that all day until my body gets tougher. Much better to just progress and get my levels up. Why get stronger the long and painful way when there is something called progression.
Then what Ace said came into my mind, he once said to me,
“Training your mind, thoughts and body, increasing stats from pure hard work is as important as progression.” he would say. Well, I know why he said that. Levels have limits, it will be much harder to get as I get higher up in the level range. Hard work is rather cumulative and the same all the time. It won’t get harder to get stronger by training everyday when I get stronger by training. I’m too lazy though. I still don’t know how Ace manages to do mind training and stuff, and all that thinking. Ace is also a lazy person. I know from what I’ve seen. Well, it isn’t important right now. What’s important is that there is nothing I can do here for now.
I go out to the hallway to explore more stuff as I still haven’t gotten the hang around the Tal camp. I don’t know where many things are at. So I am just going to keep exploring for now. Keep exploring… Keep exploring… Keeeeeep exploring……………… Keep exploring. Going through an unfamiliar hallway, then a familiar hallway, then a room I went to before. A locked door, and then… then… I see something I haven’t expected. A CHANCE. The person who made me suffer is going into a place called RESTROOM. This is a golden chance, I whisper to the transmitter.
“Yo, Ace check the restroom, is anybody in there in the Men’s room?”
Couple seconds later the response came.
“Nobody is in there except for the person that just went in, you are safe to go in.” YESSS! He is so dead. I am going to enjoy it. ‘Asilent’, ‘Buffed stealth’. Let’s get in now, let’s show him some hell.
Tal soldier’s part (lvl 32 fist user s)
The door just opens. I don’t know what. Something odd is happening. Restroom door just opens. Wait what? It’s simply mmm… odd. I don’t hear a sound, but I can see the air shimmer. I think something is there, maybe using a buffed stealth? Then the attack comes with her shouting
“Assassinate”, “Assassin’s leap”, “Bane”, “Buffed agility”, “Dagger’s tip” … As soon as I back up to counter, she uses ‘Triple dagger throw’ and stuns me for an instant. Then dashes to me to use basic attack combo. Seeing from close, I recognize her. She is the person I taught a lesson to. She looked so weak back then, how is she doing so much damage? Already 30% of my hp is gone, evaporated from her attacks. This is not a good thing. Not good at all. I better run. She is much stronger than what I originally thought. I think she is actually a spy from Lolrena at this point. I gotta alert the commanders! I run to the door, but she blocks the path. This must be what she fears the most.

“Concussion strike” she says, I block it. “Break block” Ugh, I hate this skill. She breaks my block and starts comboing with basic dagger attacks. No joke, this is the most annoying assassin skill there is. I dodge her last attack and strike back with my heavy attack. It knocks her back and I make a run for it. However she turns a little strange. Something is coming out from her eyes. I turn back to check what it is, I shouldn’t have.
“SOUL OF ASSASSIN!” She shouts in rage, then runs at me. At a really fast speed. “Buffed agility” “Buffed stealth” “Asilent” “Assassin’s leap”, I use “qi block” but it doesn’t work against the insanely fast slashes of her daggers. “Qi blade” I miss due to her fast speed. “Martial enhancements” “Advanced fist technique” I chanced upon my stronger fighting style and managed to hit her twice before she said “Lethality”, I expected this and blocked it. Then she says “Blockbreak” and the block gets breaked again!
“BRUH, you already used the break block, and it has cooltime of 8 minutes, how did you use it again?”
“This isn't a break block, what I just now is a block break lol.” NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO N O N O N O This is just unfair. Why are assassins so overpowered? They require a decrease in their skill damage.
“You're probably thinking assassins are too OP.” she says like she reads my mind. To my extreme annoyingness, she then adds
“I agree, but if you think it’s too OP, why didn’t you become one? Ha? Too bad to use it well? Too lazy to practice all the hard skills? Good luck next time then lol.” With that she lands a final blow that knocks me down, then she kills me. Good thing it wasn’t my last life, I am going to get revenge on her someday. I gotta become stronger though. Haltan, you can do it. Now you’ve got a reason to become stronger.
Ace’s part
Oh shit no, did Nora just kill him? That’s not good, so I shout
“NORA ARE YOU STUPID?”
“WHAT?” then she adds in a confused voice “did I do wrong…”
“Why did you kill him?” I ask in an alarmed voice.
“What? He deserved death Ace.”
“I know he deserves death, but not right now. He is going to alert the Tal empire now. He probably wasn’t in his last life.”
There was a small pause as Nora finally realizes what she has done
“OH SHOOT, I AM SO STUPID” she whisper shouts (?) into the transmitter.
“YES THAT'S THE PROBLEM”
“How much time till they will get the warning.”
“Let me check by observing and looking at the Tal military instructions.”
I go to the library and ask the battle librarian. The battle librarian actually happened to be part of the House Dragonia. I saw that person in the Dragonia house grounds a couple days earlier. When I go up to him, he says
“Oh, it’s Ace, what brings you here?” with a friendly voice. I reply
“Any chance you have a book about the Tal empire’s military system?”
“Military system of the Tal empire?” He looks a little confused. He then says with a frown.
“Why on Earth would you need those?”
“Know yourself and know the enemy and you will win all the time.” I reply with the most grandish voice I could muster.
“Well… I suppose… It’s in the Study of the Tal empire section over in the secret vault. Let me go get it for you.” He says as he walks out of the library. Then, I wait, wait, wait… wait… wait wait wait wait wait… wait wait wait wait…
About 15 minutes passes, and he doesn’t comes back
About 30 minutes later, he comes back with an incredibly large book. He then says with a grin,
“I assume you would need help at finding the information you need.”
“Mmm… I didn’t consider that but I guess I do now.”
“Alright, what do you want to know about the Tal empire?”
“I want to know their report system.” I reply then add some details
“When they report spies”
“Oh about that, alright that would be page 1673 I think, let me check.” He finds his magical display and checks some things for a couple minutes. Then he says with a grin
“Yes, I was right. It’s 1673-1678 ‘Protocol for when you find spies’”
Great! I can finally go back and give exact information to Nora, I hope she isn’t dead yet. Surely, a large military such as the Tal empire won’t have that fast system to report and execute spies. Plus, I told Nora to try and find another much weaker victim to insta kill and change to their clothes. So I shouldn’t have to worry much.
“So I don't have to worry, She’ll be fine” I murmur half believing, and half worrying.
