CHAPTER 20
Battle to the death…
Melarie’s part (lvl 13 pit fighter b)
I know it’s TMI, but my level went up by two when I killed the slave owner. I wonder how much it will go up when I kill this person. He or at least I think, is dashing around and around me. However, I can read his movements. His ambushes are readable. “Shadow dash” he dashes to my side and slashes his dagger, but I block it without an effort. He looks surprised a little, but not for long. “Triple strike” I pierced him, but it actually feels like my spear pierced him. Skills are sort of like that. Anyways, after the triple strike, I slash my spear and he gets hit. However I know he is far from dead.
“How…” he says. I dodge his next attack and “Spear throw” misses him by an inch. Battles then go on for 20 minutes with no advancements. We just slash, dodge, block, use skills, miss and so on. Enemy assassin is much more frustrated than I am at this point, he probably didn't think that this battle would go on for long. We are both tired, and getting close. I can tell we aren’t dodging the attacks fluently as we did in the start of the battle. “How are you even dodging my fast attacks?” he asks suddenly, while standing in front of me.
“It’s not that fast you know. Go train harder.” I reply insultingly. This makes him more mad, so he starts to use more skills. “Assassin’s leap” “Bane” and etc, every time he uses skills, I either block or dodge. Occasionally I get hit, but it isn’t that lethal. I gather my courage and fight back fiercely. At this point, smoke starts to clear a little, and I get to see him for the first time. His eyes, it’s similar to mine. As soon as I see it, I realize he is a fisherin, with sky blue skin like mine. That was why my spear combo didn’t work, he has stun immunity like mine. I feel a longing there, a longing for my home, and my race. However, I don’t stop, I keep on slicing. He does the same. Though, his attacks aren’t as critical as before. He probably is just tired, but did he realize something? Do I know him, or does he know me?
“Assassinate,” he said. I have heard from Nora that this is the signature skill of an assassin, and will use it on any enemy they have on sight. Only thing preventing him from using this was smoke that was hiding me. This skill only does extra damage when being hit though, so there’s no point if I block or dodge all the skills. It’s much easier now since I can see him.
“So, you are fisherin too?”
“That's what I was going to say.”
“Doesn’t change the fact that I get 15K silver if I capture you.”
“Oh, so you're hired assassin? Go do some more progressing, you're too weak for it lol.”
“Bane” cooltime must have been over, he came right in front of me with a slash, I blocked it without an effort.
“Block Break” He broke it, what?
“What now? I might not be as strong as some of the other ultras, but a base class like you, no matter how strong you are, is not a problem.”
“Oh, ye?” I reply, then adds
“You know what this is?” while showing off my spear to the assassin.
He doesn’t reply, instead he just starts running to the exit. Is Red Point that scary? Anyways, I chased him, because he attacked me first. He is faster than me though, and manages to run outside. Ah dang, I lost him. Mmm… but aren't Renova, Jaystyke and Carolin outside? Oh shit I gotta save em.

Renova’s part (lvl33 archer s)
We escaped from the hotel about 20 minutes ago, and are waiting for the battle to end or either one of them to come outside. I for one want to go inside and help Melarie. However Jaystyke convinced me that I would be no help in the tight quarters, and that we should stay put outside of the hotel. Just in case either one of them flee outside. If it’s Melarie, we would back her up, and if it’s the enemy assassin, we would kill the assassin. Or maybe just capture them alive. Melarie would want to end them, probably. At that moment, Carolin starts shouting at us.
“Look, somebody is coming out of the hotel.” we turn to look, and see a fisherin. For a split second, I mistook them for Melarie, but Jaystyke knew it wasn’t Melarie.
“It’s the assassin, shoot!” he shouts. I grab an arrow from my ranger’s outfit and load my bow. Then I pull the string and shoot. It misses. I do it again, it doesn’t miss this time. While I was shooting arrows, Jaystye did something more clever. He used a skill called “Arrow cage”, he shot many arrows into the sky, and it came down at the assassin and made a shape of a cage. However, assassins just jump over the arrows without any problem, oh? He just got injured. His leg is broken.
“Damn it” he says.
Me and Jaystyke shoot more arrows at him, and he falls to the ground. Jaystyke grabs him and hurls him over his shoulder. Then, Melarie bursts out of the hotel shouting.
“Stop hurting my friends!”
That was such a nice time to arrive, lol.
“Melarie, the situation is over. We won.” Jaystyke replies matter of factly. Then adds,
“Question is, what to do with this fisherin?”
“I don’t want him dead” Melarie hallers.
“Why? He sure wanted you dead.” I ask in curiosity. Melarie doesn’t seem like a person that would spare another just because of pity.
“Because…”
“Because?”
“Don’t you see?”
“No, I don’t see.”
“Don’t you see his face?”
I did see his face, what was so special about his face?
“Don’t you see how handsome he is?”
Well, that’s Melarie for ya.
“Melarie”
“Ye? Renova? What’s up?”
“You're not supposed to let somebody live just because they are handsome?”
“Why not? He looks so handsome though, I want him on my team.”
Jaystyke looks irritated by this statement.
“I want him as my boyfriend, okay?” Melarie adds.
Jaystyke suddenly interferes.
“For one, since when has our squad been ‘your team’?
Two, Do you even know what kind of person he is? I bet you don’t. If you don’t know a person, you don’t date a person.
Three, Did you even ask him what he thinks about you? Melarie, are you a kid?”
“I am not a kid!” Melarie shouts in rage.
“Then start acting like an adult.” Jaystyke shouts back, “Thank you” he finishes with a calm voice.
I head to Jaystyke’s side and whispers at his left ear,
“Jaystyke? Was that really necessary? She has just been an ignorant slave for all her life, that’s all”
Then he replies back at my right ear,
“There is a clear line between ignorance and stupidity, and this time, she crossed it, crossed it well and far.”
I think Melarie is still pretty mad, but thank god, she is cooling down a bit by bit. God, I don’t want to die by Melarie.
“Melarie, listen.” Jaystyke continues.
“Your not a slave anymore, you gotta think about the others.”
Why is Jaystyke saying that now? Does that really have to be said right now? At that moment, Melarie lunges at Jaystyke. I close my eyes in horror, so I don’t see what happens next.
