Chapter 2 - World named Gaia

CHAPTER 2

Slaves can’t read, Duh

Catie's part (lvl 6 inventorial s)

Inventorial is an unusual class, to put it best. It isn't even an easy class to progress. I had to carry a bag full of things for a couple years to meet the requirements. Classes like mana mage or red mage are much easier to get. Well, at least this class is good for my purpose.

So, almost every progressors have an inventory. It can be obtained with an inventory gem. However, it has limits. That is why inventorial class exists. Inventorials have more inventory than other progressors, and they also get many inventory related skills. Few of the decent skills it has are ‘Mercenary Inventory’ and ‘Quick Summon’, ‘Mercenary Inventory’ enables you to store items with perks and artifacts without using the perk item/artifact slot. Obviously the perks of the items and the artifacts will be disabled if stored this way. This skill is essential for trading. In this way, inventorials can carry many good perk items and artifacts. ‘Quick Summon’ is a skill which summons things faster, the speed is proportional to the class level and the skill level.

Class level is usually what people mean when they say something like I am level 26, it means their total sum of the class level is 26. However there is also something called skill level. Unlike class level which you usually get after leveling up with exp, for the skill level, you level that skill up when you use certain skills a lot. The same goes for the passives too. Exception to this is, when you level up your class level or convert class level point to skill/stat level point you get a free skill level point (multiple points for the letter case). You can use that to level up your skills for free. Using a skill level point to level up a skill will not increase the amount you need to practice for a skill to level up. Only natural level up of the skill does such.

Speaking of the levels, I am currently a level 5 scholar and a level 1 inventorial. Scholar is a base class for many of the magic/knowledge related classes.

Scholar base class increases overall mana, intellect and wisdom. It also has some casting related passive skills. It’s known as the best base class. For the inventorial, the first skill I got is ‘store’. It enables me to store things which are normally unstoreable, this includes non item objects like rocks or twigs and liquids like water. Size of my inventory is also proportional to the level of this skill, though it’s also proportional to my class level. Anyways, since I have a ‘store’, I am going to try something insane.

Red Point's part (lvl 138 DS u)

After killing some people with the fisherin, we walked out to the forest,

“Hey, I haven’t asked your name yet, what is it?”, she is mmm… shivering? Am I that scary? “Hey, what’s your name?”

“I-its, Mel-larie, sir” whispers the fisherin while shivering. Well, it looks like she is in some shock. Ok, so mmm… I thought dinsks and fisherins hardly came down to our places, they live in the sky.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

“Hey, did dinsks and fisherins start coming to the grounds more often after the legend died?”

“mmm… Yes, even though we still think ground creatures are terrible beings, we come down to the ground more often” she replies. Mmm… I guess we’ll see fisherins more often, fisherins are really annoying for close range fighters, because they don’t get stunned, which is really OP in early-mid progression. Well, my new master is a fisherin, so early progression will be easy I guess.

“Alright, we have to lie low and get stronger, since the emperor might send an army to arrest you”

“WAIT, ARMY?” She shouts out of fear, probably.

“Well, yes, but don’t worry, I’ll make sure you don’t get arrested,” I assure her. I think she is less frightened now. Well, we probably should go to places with mid ranked monsters, they are easy to slay with my skills, but I think it would be the best training and progressing choice for Melarie.

Melarie's part (lvl2 future legend)

Well, so me and the Red Point decided to go to the zombie scroom forest. As the slave of the army, I have been to places with low ranked monsters, such as slime forest or abandoned battlegrounds of the west. However, I heard that zombie scrooms are very dangerous, and if you don’t pay close attention, you could be overwhelmed by 4 zombie scrooms in an instant. However, Red Point insisted that scroom forest was the best place for people who use spears, and that he knew a secret spot that was relatively safe.

“Hey, so when do we arrive?”

“What do you mean?” he asks.

“Wait, don’t you know where you are going?

I was just following you” I say.

“Well, too bad, I totally do not know where I’m going, I was following you too,” he says in such a calm voice which makes me angry.

“Your Red Point, you're supposed to know where you're going!”, alright, now he is glaring at me in such a way that makes my heart stop. By that, I mean glaring at me like he wants to kill me, I think I'm going to pee in my pants.

Oh well, too late, considering I'm 20 years old, that is very very embarrassing, but Red Point looks so scary though, I couldn’t help it.

“Mmm... , Red Point?”

“Yes? Melarie?”

“Since the sun is down, can we rest here before we continue our journey?”,

“Sure.”

Nice, I can change my clothes now.

Red Point's part (lvl 138 DS u)

Ye, I think I was a bit mean to my new master, she looked really scared when I glared at her. So even if it was only 8 P.M. I allowed us to stop traveling and start building a camp, not that we had a tent, but we could still build a campfire and find a good place to rest on.

“Alright lemme explain about the leveling system, basically when you kill monsters or do quests, you get exp, by collecting exp, you are able to level up. When you level up, you get a level point. You can spend the level point on a class that you have other requirements completed, or you can transfer it to 2 skill points and 5 stat points, keep in mind that you still get 1 skill point and 2 stat point even if you decide to spend your point in a class”

“Ah, that’s just so complicated, I can’t memorize all that!” she shouts that out so loud that it’s basically a miracle that I can still hear her.

“You’ll probably get the hang of it after you start progressing”

“What is progressing?” she asks. I thought she knew what it meant, but guess not.

“Progressing is the term for leveling up and getting classes, read this manual, it will help you understand about the rogues."

“But, but I can’t read!” She starts to cry as soon as she says this.

I don’t know what came through me just now, but I suddenly become ultra emotional hearing that, so I hug her and then whisper “It’s ok Melarie, I know you had a hard past, but don’t worry now, I’ll make you the strongest person in this world.”
