Chapter 10 - Tales of Two Sigil Knights

CHAPTER 10

Tales of Two Sigil Knights

Ace's part (lvl 50 Illusionist, Philosopher, Spy, Monk s/h)

There is a true story about two great sigil knight commanders that happened just two years ago, very recent for tales like these. I'm telling you this because you might need to know this tale to continue with our journey here. I’ll explain some concepts first though. First of all, sigil knight commander is an ultra class. Many sigil knights go either full tank, warrior, bruiser or somewhere inbetween. This class is about putting an instant magical effect on the sword which naturally makes this class basic attack based, at least for the super class sigil. However, the ultra class has more options, not only making the effect stronger and utility skills more effective, it has severe direct attack skills like, charged blow, sigil strike, and call of the true warrior and some more.

Charged blow is sort of related with the effect though, because it uses a skill set for each charge, charged blow with flame charge slashes a flame that flies forward. Ice charge creates a glacial that traps the enemy in front of you and so on for each different charge.

Sigil strike buffs your physical defence and magical defence by 60% for 5 seconds then leaps to the opponent to deal a critical blow that gives the enemy concussion and disarms them. P.S. Physical and magical defense stats operate in a complicated manner, and will be explained in different times.

Call of the true warrior allows you to strike the ground very hard and cause area damage to everybody near you, including your allies but excluding yourself. If the opponent is struck with the sword when using this skill, they will be stunned for 3 seconds.

There are way more skills for sigil knight command ultra but I have done enough with the class explanations, and let's get back to the story.

Two sigil's names were Raven, and Rasen. They were friends who trained together, so they named themselves similar to each other.

After their parents death by the necromancer, they were like sisters and brothers to each other. Much so that they wrote each other as brother and sister in their diaries.

Raven's diary, October 16th 2019

Well yesterday my brother and I defeated a necromancer that killed all 4 of our parents. I said we should just execute him then track him down and kill him more until he has 0 life left. However Rasen said we should torture him first. So we did. (Ace's note: many average people just set their spawn near their house, because if you set somewhere far away, you might die while coming back to your house. Necromancer used this fact to kill Raven and Rasen's parents multiple times because they set spawn at their town.)

After we wiped the necromancer. (Ace's note: Wiping is when you kill a person until they have 0 life left.)

We celebrated with all of our friends who helped us along the way. We popped and poured champagne and danced like we were mad, we talked, ate and drank, talked, ate and drank until we fell asleep due to alcohol. After we walked up though, we faced a big problem.

Rasen's diary, October 17th 2019

Yes, we did face a problem alright, the problem was that we got no goal now. Nothing to push our limits for. There was a chance that we could become lazy, and stop training and progressing like we used to, and I was almost tempted to do that. However Raven didn't and got me focused again. We both went sigil knight commander, so our fighting styles were similar but a bit different at the same time. So we practiced on how to fight as a duo against a lot of enemies.

Honestly, Raven uses timing skills so well. I have never seen anybody use the skill ‘counter’, ‘timed strike’ and ‘sigil’s footwork’ so well. That timing sense is both built from practice and inherited from the parents. I neither practiced much for counter related skills nor have talent, or at least I don't think I have. Actually I don't really like to counter stuff, it's not my style.

Well, so what is my style? Well I like to just dash and full combo my enemy with high dps and end the fight quickly. Sort of like an assassin. However sigil knights aren't the best class for assassinating people. Usually that would be the case, but my skillset and itemset is set perfectly for an assassination that uses the sigil knight skills effectively.

Ace's part (lvl50 Illusionist, Philosopher, Spy, Monk s/h)

Well I forgot to explain the item system. So there are items with some perks and powers in this world. If that item is an armor, helmet, weapon, or boots you will be required to equip it in order to get the perks. However if it’s something like a necklace, ring, pendent, artifact, or sculptures, it doesn’t require you to wear it, just having it in the inventory would be enough. There are 10 basic slots of inventory for items with perks and powers. Any item with a perk will take up a slot, even if you're wearing them. This is why it’s important to choose which items to have. If you want more slots, you can buy a maximum of 5 from the mmm… system? I guess? 1st additional slot costs 500, 2nd costing 5000 and so on, last slot costs 5M. Which is an insane amount of silver, and there is 0 known case of being unlocked.

Even the legend is known to have only saved up to 2M silver at the peak of his lifetime. Even 2M is an amazing amount of silver, experts have different ideas about how he saved up this insane amount.

First theory was that he demanded high tax on everybody near the sentinel empire. It was true, both that he took tax from everybody (including kids), and that tax was high. However some people reasoned that even that wasn't enough for 2M silver.

These people came up with a new theory, that he had a backdoor deal with other countries, taking out the rebels for an insane amount of silver. This has no proof nor actual document, but it's a very reasonable hypothesis.

Many others thought Legend actually got a lot of artifacts. In many ways, most people thought he gathered them alone with dangerous farming. Could be true, but I think he actually camped in a tundra to steal people's treasure.

Well we soon found our goal, it happens that the Tal Empire wants to conquer our hometown. So we decided to defend our lands from Tal, the problem was, we had no country, nor any governments. Tal would be able to rush individuals with the army easily if stayed this way. Meantime, I created a house called Lolrena (to create a house, which is similar to guilds or clans, you need to first have a super class, and have over 20 years of survival time after being level 1.) I got my level 1 the day I was born, thanks to my parents giving me expensive exp potions. So I was able to create a house called Lolrena for my 20th birthday. Which is today.

November 3rd 2019

The tensions increased in passing days, while I recruited members of my house to prepare and make an organization that can resist Tal's invasion. I am guessing the Tal Empire is preparing a force to invade the 'unauthorized regions of the south', and destroy its freedom.

November 22nd 2019

We managed to gain enough support from the civilians to take control of the east regions of the 'unauthorized regions of the south', or 'URS', people living here probably would be feeling more threatened than other regions of the URS, because it's closest to the Tal Empire. By the way, we decided to call the regions controlled by us 'Lolrena' just like the house name. We are going to just defend the region but not enforce much nor take anything from it, because we aren't a country or something like it. We just want the regions to have freedom and independence.

Rasen's diary December 3rd 2019

It's really amazing how my sister managed to get support from all of URS in a matter of a month. People must surely be worried about losing freedom and independence to the Tal Empire. Raven has been preparing defence systems with some of the engineers and merchants. We used about 60% of all of our money on this defence project. So I hope it works, not only that though, if we fail we might be taken prisoner or get wiped by Tal, to prevent this, we changed our spawns to a medium sized city in Exel Union's north desert. It took 3 days to get there and back but it'll be worth it when we lose.

Raven's diary December 24th 2019

Ok, the war has broken out, it was an ambush of Tal Empire at the southeast of URS (now known as Lolrena). We were expecting ambush from this region since the december 5th, so we had already evacuated the civilians and prepared the defence. There are a lot of strong people in southeast URS, who will defend their homeground fiercely if necessary. Now was that time.

Me and 25 other people held ground at the front line of defence, Rasen wasn't suitable for frontline defence unlike me, he said he was going to lead the mid rangers, fighters and assassinate the assassins that managed to slip through the frontline. For now we are winning, but I doubt this will last long, because Tal have many armies that are yet to arrive.

December 27th 2019

Tide had turned in the southeast and me and 16 others who survived decided to move back about 5 kilometers and enter the first defence stations. 9 others who have died weren't in their last life, so they are somewhere around in the Rogue Continent. However we have a silent rule among the progressors to become a new person after you die, it's to minimize the chance of wiping from one incident. Some people don't follow it though, people like me and my brother.

December 28th 2019

We met up at the first defence base, which has rock walls and turrets at ready. I heard that Tal assaulted the northern region and caused 500 deaths of Lolrena civilians. We asked help to house Icetail, homegrounded at the north URS, they accepted our request and are currently fighting the Tal. I am guessing if we hold for a week or two, Tal would give up and go back home. I really hope that's true because if Tal fully attacks us, we will suffer tons of losses.

December 31st 2019

There is good news and bad news, I don't care what others tell first, I always tell bad news first. Bad news, Tal has been pushing a little by little in the southeast, pushing us back a couple tens of kilometers and taking 5 defence forts. Good news is that house Icetail crushed the Tal empire's army who were in the north. They really are good at defending their homeland. Well, the Tal empire is tired right now and they want to do 1v1, leader vs leader to decide whether Lolrena becomes Tal empire or not. It's me vs Dakr Tal, Dakr Tal is one of the main commanders of the Tal empire, and is the commander of URS invasion forces. I will have to think about this for today, if I say yes, me and Dakr will duel tomorrow.

Jan 1st, 2020

I did duel Dakr, it went like this.

(Ace’s note

Raven is lvl 131, ranked A-, Sigil knight commander + 1 other superclass

Dakr is lvl 165, ranked A Shadow spearer + 1 other ultraclass + 3 other superclass)

Dakr: Well Raven, it's an honor to meet you, I have heard you are a very honorful sigil. I am Dakr Tal, the sha...

Raven: Yare Yare, shadow spearer, you main as shadow spearer ultra class, 1 other ultra and have 3 other supers. Well too bad you won't win against me.

Dakr: Must be confident then, if you decided to cut my sente...

Raven: FIRST HIT ALWAYS WINS, Swift surge, sigil dash, action surge

Swift surge and sigil dash are both movement skills, sigil dash also gives me a barrier, though swift surges gives me 5% speed boost after the dash and it dashes a little bit farther than sigil dash, anyways with these 2 skills, I closed the distance up for my action surge skill, which fully combos enemies in a split second. However…

Dakr: Shade

With this dakr just disappeared

Raven: damit, flame charge

I charged my sword with flames and prepared to basic attack him, however he came from back, which I expected

Dakr: triple stiri…

Raven: Counter!

Dakr took damage and got knocked back, and I didn't lose this chance.

Raven: Ice charge, Charged blow

Ice charge's charged blow makes giant ice in front of me for trapping enemies.

Raven: Pommel strike, Righteous blow

Pommel strike blinds the enemy while Righteous blow deals 3 times the damage against chaotic, both didn't miss the target.

After that I waited extra 18 seconds for my charged blow to come back in. It's cooltime is normally 2 minutes, but my stats from items and buffs makes my cooltime about 75% less, so I have to only wait 30 seconds to reuse it, and it has already been 12. It charged up as I was thinking about this.

Raven: Thunder charge, dashing strike, charged blow

Dakr somehow dodged both the dashing strike and the charged blow, for the thunder charge, charged blow enables you to surge forward hitting the enemy with lighting if the sword is hit.

Dakr: Shadow spear crush

I flung back a couple meters as I got, then Dakr started his combo, starting with a heavy basic attack of the church knight, which is leaping to the enemy and knocking back once again. Then he used…

Dakr: shadow claw, shadow tag, Tal's guide of the vengeance

As he spoke shadow claw, dark claws appeared right in front of me and pierced me. The shadow tag made a mark on me, which meant I would take more damage from the next attack. However the real problem was Tal's guide of the vengeance, because it's signature skill of many of the Tal generals (Tal empire's best assassin made it, it's complicated to explain about her) and also because it deals really high true damage. It has cooltime of a full week, plus it deals damage proportionate to the health the caster lost. Currently, Dakr lost most of his health, this attack could do enough damage to make this duel even again. However I obviously wasn't going to watch and see how much damage it does.

Dakr: Leaping strike

As he leaped to use his ultimate skill.

Raven: absolute counter

Usual counter would do certain physical damage on the enemy regardless of the skill or attack it countered, however the absolute counter deals the exact attack or skill's damage converted all to true damage to the enemy. Which means

Dakr fainted

And I gripped him

When people grip others, they get half of the silver they have + half of the item's worth they got converted to silver. This time I got 89K silver, he used a lot of items to buff his damage and defence, however I ezed him in 4 minutes. Must be a shock to all of Tal. P.S when you get gripped, you lose half of your silver and all the items. If you die in any other way, you only lose all the items.

Jan 2nd 2020

Tal has fallen back, and I have become like a hero to all of URS people, now calling themselves Lolrenian, which probably means URS is now Lolrena. Well, killing Dakr increased my level by 3, which is a lot considering it’s harder to level up as level gets higher. I used the silvers I got from killing dakr to build basic infrastructure and defence on Lolrena, even though I'm probably sure Tal won't come back anytime soon.
