CHAPTER 19
Story of the Jaystyke
Jaystyke’s part (lvl 32 archer s)
“When I was young, I lived with my parents. My hometown is Alikain, which is pretty near to the westernmost city of the FGU, Prendels. Our family was not wealthy, but they weren’t poor either. It was okay and decent. My childhood was just like any other children in FGU. Until the day that everything was torn apart. So, one day, when I was eight, I was playing branch throwing with my friends. Branch throwing is a traditional forest sport. In this sport, there are thrower and catcher. Thrower will throw a branch, then the catcher has to catch it. If he catches it, he stays in the spot and becomes a thrower, and the thrower has to move to catch the branch. There can be a maximum of 10 throws before the turn ends, but if the branch hits the ground, the turn automatically ends. After 5 turns, the team who has gone the farthest wins. It was pla” Renova cuts it.
“Jaystyke, stop rambling on about Branch throwing, you are going too far off-topic.”
“Alright sorry, anyways, while I was playing that game, I heard a sound that I heard only in sparring matches. I was curious, I know I shouldn’t have been, but I was. I stopped playing the game and followed the sound. I thought I would be safe if I hid in the bushes. I was right technically, but hear me out. Peering outside from the bush, I saw an army. Army composed of only humans. I knew it wasn't the FGU army, which was and still is composed of half half-animal kinds and rest humans, demi-humans, demons, etc. That day, I didn’t realize but it could have only been, army of the Hab Kingdom. I kept myself low, and stayed in the bush without making any sounds for a couple hours. I saw all of them disappear from sight. I assumed everything was all right now, and went back to my house.”
“Huh? Then why did you..?” Carolin starts to
“Wait, it isn’t over. Going back to my house, this was a mistake I will remember to my dying day. When I stepped into my town, it was oddly empty. Looking back at it now, I know all the residents have fled to Prendels, but back then, I didn’t know. I was too young and innocent, and didn't know what the world outside was like.” at this moment, Renova interferes,
“I can’t believe there were times that you believed the world was all unicorns and rainbows.” she says, then adds,
“Right now, you are so realistic and totally opposite of fantasy.”
“I wasn’t exactly unicorns and rainbows.” I start to explain myself, but she ignores me
“Whatever you say Jaystyke, just go on with your story.” she urges.
“Alright so, I went into my house. However, there were already people there. In an instant, they spotted me and captured me.
“Ahh, an amature half-cat kind, this is going to make me rich.”
“You have to share the money, you know.”
“Yare, Yare, let’s just go to the slave market and sell this one off.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“No, no, don’t!” I shouted, but it was no use. They used a magical silence tape on my mouth then threw me onto the carriage. It took about a day and a half to get to the nearest slave auction. Then about 3 hours later, I was sold to a noble who had an unusual hobby. I remember the price I was sold at. I was sold at 1525 silver.”
“Wait, wait, wait!” Renova shouts.
“Hold up! Two things, first you never told me about your noble’s strange hobby, and second WHAT? At 1525 silver? That high? I was sold at only about 400.”
“Okay, reply to two points you brought up, I am not going to tell anyone about what the unusual hobby is, and me being sold at unusually high price relates to the unusual hobby my old master has. Which I am not going to tell you about.” I reply with a firm voice.
“Not even me? That’s gotta be something important, and I think it’s related to the reason you decided to break free from the slavery.” Renova says with a teasing voice.
“Right there Renova, please don’t make me mad. I don’t like arguing with you. Okay, pls don’t cross the line to the point we start shooting arrows at each other.”
“You know you will lose, right?” Renova teases.
“Anger isn’t something logical you know, right? I say matter of factly.
“Can you stop your lover’s quarrel and get on with your story?” Melarie asks me. I do as she says, because I don’t want to quarrel further either.
“So where are we at?” I ask, because I actually can’t remember.
“Part where you are being sold at 1525.” Renova answers back to me
“Ok, so after being sold at 1525. I started serving my old master as my master. Unusual for the halfkind slaves of Hab Kingdom, I was treated relatively decently. Except for one thing.”
“And that is?” Renova intervenes for like foreverth time.
“I was going to keep that a secret too, but if you really want to know, it was” right before I reveal one of my many secrets, something happens. Alarm is blazing like mad. Somebody must have broken in.
“We gotta get out of here, me and Renova can fight much better in the open.” I said right before opening the door to the hallway. Archer’s danger sense tells me that this enemy is much stronger than any of us. A low ultra class at least. And something inside me tells me that we, no more specifically the MELARIE, is the target.
“Melarie, I think you are th” my words were cut off by an attack by the enemy.
If we don’t get out of here, they are going to kill us. With this thought, I start to run, but I don’t think we are going to make it. However, I still run, better die trying than nothing.
“Assassin’s leap” I hear him murmurs, the target isn’t me, I know that from the distance it came from.”
“Triple hop” Renova shouts, as she dodges the attack by a split second.
I know I gotta fall back and help, and I do just that. However, I can’t really use an offensive attack cause this place is full of smoke.
“Jay, let’s get out of here first.” Renova says as she runs toward the exit. Exit looks a bit far away, recognizable due to the yellow glowing exit sign. I start to run anyway, even if the enemy is an assassin and an ultra class, I probably won’t die before I get to exit will I?
“Shadow backstab” as soon as I thought I wouldn’t die, a lethal backstab just came into my back, it is one of the signature skills of shadow assassin ultraclass. It deals about 30% of my hp. I now actually think that I might actually die here. Thankfully, I fully healed up and recharged myself during the couple hours in this hotel. Magical heal panel was very useful.
“Triple shot” I murmurs and shoots 3 arrows in an instant to my back. I think none of it hit the enemy. This dark is so disturbing, I need to get out now. I am pretty sure Melarie will be fine without us, and Carolin will be fine if she stays close to Melarie. It’s us that gotta get out, me and Renova. We can’t survive here. With that, I burst out of the door. With Renova right behind me. Surprisingly, Carolin made it out, too. Just a couple seconds after me and Renova. That leaves only Melarie inside. Oh and the scroomie too, but the scroomie is still taking a bath in the bathtub and hasn’t been noticed, so will probably be fine.
