Examining the doors I note that both figures have force abilities. Something the empire's regular legion does not.
Placing my hand in the grey door and willing it to open I hear a small mechanical, "Click!"
Still, the doors do not open and when I try to do the same thing with the white door it pushes me away.
"The heck?" I question aloud.
Teya who was watching my actions till now," What is it?"
"The grey door responds to my will through the force but the white one does not," I explain.
"Maybe... The white door represents the light side of the force, and perhaps the grey is unaligned force users?" Teya guesses.
"As good a guess as any, let's give it a try," I agree.
A, "Click," is heard coming from the white door.
Pushing on the door and finding it still doesn't open we ask ourselves, "What are we missing?"
"Wait! The temple of the Kyber is not just Jedi, it's always been made up of those who are all force users except the dark aligned," Teya recalls.
"So you think the lock was made to respond only to both in unison so that neither group could betray the other?" I ask.
"Yeah, let's give it a try at the same time," Teya nods.
"Alright, here goes," I reply as we both place our hands on the doors and focus at the same time.
"Clonk", thumps something in the doors as the swing opens.
Teya and I find ourselves breathlessly gazing upon walls lined with millions of lightsaber-sized Kyber crystals. The room was perfectly square except for the crystals themselves proving we were no longer in a mere cave. The only door was the one we came in through.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
I reach to touch one," Ouch!"
"Zzzt," hums a barely visible barrier covering the walls. The translucent barrier was like a thin layer of fog generated by the crystals themselves.
"What good do they do us if we can't touch them!" I curse.
"There's gotta be a way, why would they make this place accessible if they never wanted any to be claimed?" Teya states.
"We might just be wasting our time Teya," I complain.
"..."
"AND! Now we're gonna have to leave Jedha because after the report those troopers will write the Inquisition will come to hunt us," I add.
"..."
"What is it?" I ask realizing Teya's been silent too long.
"The barrier parted away for me," Teya says holding up a crystal that looks black to me from where I'm standing.
"That's great you should activate the lightsaber," I encourage her.
"I can feel this is my crystal and it was always meant to be," Teya proclaims socketing the crystal into the saber.
"Humm!" Purrs the lightsaber as Teya activates it and illuminates the room in a purple light.
"Amazing! I've only ever heard of Master Mace Windu ever having a purple lightsaber before," I congratulate her.
"There's got to be one here for you, let's look," Teya says worriedly.
Looking around the room I see no gaps in the barely visible barrier," there may not be one for me Teya and that's ok".
"No, it's not! We wouldn't have made it here without you," Teya tears up.
"Life isn't fair Teya and I'm barely even able to use the force. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no destined crystal for me," I say placating Teya.
Taking one last thorough look around the room and checking all locations with crystals we noticed the barrier stays solid.
"If there is a crystal for me I guess it is not here," I sigh.
"Hold on, what is that!" She points to a round rock a little bigger than my fist in the center of the wall opposite the door.
"A rock," I shrug.
"No, look!" Teya exclaims placing her hand over the rock causing the barrier to block her.
"Ouch!" She yelps.
Placing my hand above it the barrier recedes until it vanishes, "strange..."
Picking up the round rock I fail to sense anything from it. Giving it a good shake I hear a slight, "slushing sound".
"What is it?" Teya asks.
"Sounds like it's full of water," I answer.
"Sounds like a geode, could there be a crystal in there that would work for a lightsaber," Teya says hopeful.
"If that is the case then I should be able to sense it but I can't feel anything from it but a weird sensation," I mention.
"Well, it's yours whatever it is," Teya says.
"It's time to go before more Imperials arrive and corner us," I hurriedly change the subject.
Packing up we leave as Teya stops me," Wait let's close the doors. We can't let the Empire get ahold of this stuff and they couldn't get in before".
Agreeing with her idea we close the door. As we start to leave the doors vanish, leaving behind a plain cave wall.
Eyes wide Teya says," The heck!"
"Either it's vanished or it turned invisible to our perception. Either way, we have to leave now! Some things are just best left mysteries," I reasoned pulling Teya by the hand.
