Chapter 12. A unique Perspective

Chapter 12. A unique Perspective

I watch the Sith Inquisitor named Retra pilot her vessel. A day earlier I had considered it Roan's and Mine but now she is here taking charge in a situation I'm ill-prepared for. I wasn't strong enough on Murakam. I can't even protect the only person I care for I have left...

My eyes tearing up Retra says noticing me, "Hey, are you..."

I wipe my tears away," I'm fine!" I snap.

"Sure... maybe you should go check on Roan. As soon as D1k says he's sealed the internal bleeding well head out." Retra adds changing the subject.

I could tell she was avoiding arguing with me.

Is that concern I felt earlier? I took another look at Retra, she wasn't what I thought she was like. Inquisitors are supposed to be cruel, wicked, or inherently evil. They have been known to burn a village down even after they turn over the Jedi or force-sensitive the Sith have been hunting. She was hunting me but more like a bounty hunter does and she is here now saving Roan. Who is she?

I realize I've been staring at her back when she reached a metal hand into her top's collar to massage a stiff shoulder. Smooth blemishless skin that made a stark contrast to her scars where her metal hands begin. Sadly, she's quite beautiful, it's a shame she'll always be scarred.

I hadn't noticed when I thought we'd have to fight to the death that she is quite attractive and gives off a chill vibe with a mature look. What am I even thinking... I should go check on Roan.

I leave the bridge and head over to the med bay. I see Roan lying on the secured operating table strapped down to prevent further injuries.

"How is he D1k?" I ask.

"Patient is currently stable and had I not known better I would think they always were," D1k answers.

"What do you mean by that?"

"It's strange... all of his vitals are fine and even the internal bleeding was minor when it shouldn't have been." D1k shrugs.

I place my hand on Roan's shoulder," I think he's trying his best to hold on".

"There's no data to confirm such an assumption," D1k corrects.

I ignore the droid's bad bedside manner and sit in a chair by the stretcher. I look outside the window just in time to see another ship enter through the rift around Murakam. It's of a make I've never seen before shaped like a teardrop cut diamond and outfitted with weaponry not considered legal for civilians to own. Then a presence of pure anger, jealousy, and malice overwhelms me. My stomach sinks, beyond the raw emotions I sense a strong user of the dark side".

"Teya I'm taking us out of here!" Shouts Retra through the ship's communicators. She must have sensed the same thing I did.

I grab hold of a nearby support expecting our ship to rapidly accelerate but other than some shaking nothing happens.

"Damnit! He's got a hold on us" Retra screams in frustration.

I press the button for the communicator nearest to me," A tractor beam?"

After a pause, Retra responds," No he's just that powerful!"

I fell a threatening voice like claws scraping steel makes me shiver sent through the Force," Give it! I know you must have it and it's mine!"

The voices demands make no sense and with his anger, I feel the ship shake.

We are being grabbed using the Force which means there must be a way to counter it using it as well. If only Roan wasn't in this condition...

"D1k bring Roan out of his induced state," I tell the droid.

"If he strains himself now in his condition he will die," D1k lectures.

"I just need him conscious for a moment. It's not his power but his mind I need. He has a unique ability and perspective. If anyone knows a solution to our current situation it's him."

"I would rather not risk a patient's life. I am a doctor, not a mortician," D1k protests.

"If the ship gets destroyed you'll be a hunk of scrap rather than a doctor and we'll all be chunks of meat rather than patients," I argue.

D1k pauses," I will awaken the patient ".

Retra continues Trying to break the ship free of our unknown nemesis's hold by changing directions and acceleration intensity.

A minute later I see Roan start to open his eyes," Roan " I say.

"Hmm... "

"Listen to me Roan and don't get up," I add.

"Yeah?" He groans.

"If someone more powerful in the force than you was holding you in one spot, how would you escape?" I ask.

"The other person's Force power still has to grab onto you like tendrils. Don't push against them from the front because that would require more force to oppose it. Redirect the force being applied to a direction other than yourself by hitting it from the side. To do this all at once push with the Force in a circular motion." Roan explains quite well for being in a half a stupor.

"Thank you, Roan, sleep well."

Knowing what to do next I signal for D1k to put Roan back under and activate my communicator, "Retra set the ship on autopilot and meet me in the hanger!"

I sprint from the med bay heading to the hanger as fast as possible. Once there I saw Retra right behind me," Whoever is attacking doesn't dare use a lethal attack. So if we can break his hold we will be fine."

"What's the plan?" Retra asks listening intently.

"We stand back to back and push out with the force simultaneously. We need to push out like how a vortex spins in. This will break his hold on us?" I explain.

"Worth a try," Retra nods.

We get into position and like a dance try to work together in perfect harmony. Several minutes into trying and particularly succeeding we feel his hold weaken. Our enemy has been trying harder to hold us as we were perfecting the technique but he ultimately had no countermeasure.

"One more time together!" I shout.

With harmony that would make a master Jedi proud we pushed and broke free of our nemesis's grasp and passed through the vortex into normal space.

"That was a great technique, how did you come up with it?" Retra questions.

I shake my head," I didn't, it was Roan who did. His unique insight into the force is a treasure in and of itself."
