I was merely four years old when the Jedi told me I'd never be one of them. Although I possessed fine control over the items I moved in the air, my base power was too low that my midi-chlorian count wasn't enough for me to ever become a master or saber fight properly.
I was kicked out as a child with nowhere to go. It was then I realized how cold and calculating the Jedi could be. I wasn't worth investing in and therefore I was without value and cast aside. Normally I should have been sent to one of the Jedi Service Corps but Yoda chose to have me expelled instead.
Some argued in my favor, I remember a Jedi who argued that I should be allowed to go to the Service Corps even if I couldn't become a Jedi. I heard years later Anakin became a Jedi knight. I was genuinely happy for him.
There was another who was like a brother to me though, his name was Zett. A Padawan years ahead of me, he was the one who had found me and brought me to the order when I was but an abandoned Newborn.
When I was cast out I was sent to apprentice under a local mechanic in Coruscant. Zett broke a small rule to help me though. He believed I had the force for a reason. He gave me a handwritten letter with instructions on how to progress my self-training in the force further. It would take me as far as my powers could progress
A few years later I changed which Mechanic I apprenticed under. Not because of anything I did but my original master died while working on a hyperdrive. I was out buying materials on a list he had given me at the time.
I took the opportunity to go work for a master repair mechanic in Jedha City. The moon was the site of a famous force temple. I hoped to glean some of the lost knowledge there.

*Thump* crashes a broken droid I threw to the ground in frustration," Ten freaking years!" I curse.
Ten years and all I have achieved is starting my repair shop. I have not been permitted entry into the temple of the kyber. Only the high guardians or priests can enter the inner chambers and everything else yields no useful secrets to me.
*Shing!" Rang the bell on my door. Another customer bringing me a broken item they want fixed for cheap.
"...!" I force my expression to remain neutral despite my shock.
Teya... My childhood friend from the Padawan Academy. Perhaps to anyone else, the young lady would look like any other green Mirialan. There's just something in her facial expressions and the way she carries herself making me certain it's her. How had she survived order 66? The emperor had all the Jedi killed 6 years after I was kicked out and now she's here... I have to make sure it's her!
"Good evening customer! How can I help you?" I ask pretending to be a lousy salesman.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
"I'm mostly here to see what you're selling, let me look around," She says.
"Alright but let me know if you are looking for anything specific, I have lots of parts in the back," I stated causing her ears to perk up. I had a clue as to why she was really going around repair shops in the first place.
Listening to her read off a bunch of random parts and confirming my suspicion I nod," One second".
I walk into the back room and open a hidden drawer. The contents Inside leave me with a bitter-sweet feeling. A nearly complete lightsaber lays before me. I built this thing years ago when I still believed that the Jedi were wrong about me. When I still dreamed that someday I too could become a Jedi knight.
Now I'm an adult but I cannot do any of the maneuvers one must multitask in order to use a lightsaber properly in battle. Even if I had a Kyber crystal I couldn't even form a full lightsaber blade with my power. The weapon I would have to use if I ever got the chance would be of a much different design... She will make better use of this than I can, I tell myself.
"I believe this is what you looking for," I say holding out the incomplete saber.
Teya stumbles back knocking over a pile of scrap and lifts a broken droid arm,"Stay Back Imperial BASTARD!" She shouts readying to swing the arm at me.
"Pfft!," I laugh.
"I'm serious I... I'll..." Teya mumbles.
"Teya, it's me," I say.
"Who?" She questions.
"Roan," I tell her.
"Who?' she repeats.
"You?" I stutter flabbergasted she had forgotten me.
"Oh wait, you were that boy who was really good at force manipulation when we were fledglings but was kicked out of the Padawan program for a lack of potential," Teya replies in realization.
"Was I that unimportant that you forgot me?" I ask.
"Its been a long time and we were like 5 years old when you packed up and left but why aren't you in the service Corps?" she questions.
"I suppose that makes sense you wouldn't recognize me but I wasn't sent to the Corps. Yoda had me expelled instead," I slouch in defeat.
"That's not normal... why would Yoda do such a thing? That's not the normal protocol and unlike him. At least your alive as a result and I'm so glad to see you," she says giving me a sudden hug.
"I'm glad to see you alive and well. How did you survive?" I ask.
"Remember Master Jocasta Nu? The sweet old lady in the library. She took me to a secret passage and told me to go and never come back. She then closed the entrance behind me."
I nodded, "At least she helped you escape but she never met up with you outside?"
"All this time I've been alone but now we can rebuild the order together, "Jeya says holding my hands.
"I'm no Jedi Teya," I shake my head.
"The order is gone now and you were trained, who would stop you from being a part of the new order?"
"Don't mess with me! They cast me aside and now I'm hunted just like you are. Why would I help them when they abandoned me?" I scoff with more resentment than I thought I had.
"I'm... Sorry Roan, I should have realized you have no love for the Jedi anymore".
"Here," I say handing her the kyber-less lightsaber.
"Thank you," she replies lovingly caressing the weapon.
"If you don't mind I'd like to see you activate it when you put your Kyber crystal in," I ask.
"Oh...." She hesitates going stiff.
Realization hits me, "You're looking for parts but you don't have a Kyber crystal yet!"
She coughs," I have a plan".
"Probably a shit plan," I complain.
"Come on, have I ever led you astray?"
"Always, you troublesome fool," I state remembering us stealing candy as kids and getting scolded for it.
"Look, I found an entrance to a tunnel that leads beneath The temple of the Kyber and there's bound to be tons of crystals down there. I wanted to have a complete saber so I could complete it immediately in case I ran into any dangers," Teya explains.
"Hah" I sighed, "I'm going to regret this aren't I?"
