“How did you know that I was an archer?” Province was curious.
Elisia was silent for a moment with answers gathering in her head. She didn't want to answer using a skill. However, that was how Elisia knew about the class of Province. Elisia glanced at the face of the woman who was waiting for an answer to leave her lips.
“I… just guessed,” Elisia replied nervously.
Province chuckled. “As a princess, you have a good instinct for reading someone. I haven't been an archer in a long time. Since my marriage to Scott two years ago, I had never held a crossbow again.”
Elisia thought for a moment. Province's answer made her remember someone she had known before. She suspected that it had something to do with everything that had happened to her, even though it was quite a distance away.
“If I may ask, what work did you do before marriage?”
“Before marriage? I'm an archer from the kingdom. After the kingdom collapsed, I fled to several places. My journey stopped at Runga. This was where I found my love for Scott.”
“What is the name of that kingdom?” Elisia was getting more and more curious.
Just before Province opened her mouth, Risk came to the kitchen and called for Elisia. The girl obeyed her mentor first.
“If Vivi has free time, I’ve like to continue that conversation again.” Elisia went with Risk.
Risk invited Elisia to go up to the second floor of the apartment. She didn't know what had happened, but it felt like a precarious situation. They kept walking until they came to the stairs leading to the roof floor. The view of a clear, slightly cloudy sky greeted her arrival. Elisia saw Scott standing on the edge of the roof, looking at the building.
“Okay. I've brought Elisia here. What do you want from her?” Risk said.
Scott turned around. “Elisia, can you come close to me for a second?”
Risk pushed Elisia's body and smiled slightly. The girl approached Scott. In his hand, there was a [Scope] and a [Pen]. There was a table with white paper nearby. Scott pulled Elisia's body to stand on the edge of the roof. She gave the [Scope] to Elisia.
“I want you to look to your left and tell me what,” Scott pleaded.
Elisia used that [Scope]. Only tall buildings were in her sight. A building with the words 'ELECTEC' in sight from Elisia's position.
“I see a building namely 'ELECTEC',” Elisia said.
“Right. It is a building that manufactures various kinds of electronic devices in this region. They have created many technologies, both for society and the military. A few years ago, they made five combat devices with different functions for military purposes,” Scott explained.
“Then, what do you want to do in that building?” Risk asked.
“The building keeps one of the combat device and the location of the other four. If we can infiltrate it, we can search for the device.”
Elisia removed the scope from her eyes. “Infiltrate? Are you serious?”
“A special border police force led by Captain Jayston heavily guarded Runga's border with other regions. He is the most dangerous person in this region, even the Sicilians dare not set their foot in this region,” Scott replied.
“Then, what captains Jayston have to do with the five military devices?” Elisia asked.
“The five devices, comprising Camouflage Net, Electromagnetic Core, Holographic Shield, integrate Remote, and Star of Energy, are the most powerful devices ever made by ELECTEC. We can use it to get you out of this region to Mandalay,” Scott explained at length.
“Wait a moment!” Risk walked over to Scott. “Couldn't we use a skillful means of combat to cross that border? I don't think using those devices is our way as ex-soldiers.”
“In Runga, technology is everything. If you want to win, you must have the technology,” Scott replied firmly.
“How do we infiltrate the building?” Elisia asked, interrupting the conversation.
“Don’t worry. I have a team that will help us with this mission. I've asked them to come to the apartment across from my apartment. We'll be leaving this afternoon.” Scott walked to the entrance.
Elisia didn't understand what Scott meant. Technology wasn't what she best at. While in the kingdom, they did traditionally everything with no devices. The only state-of-the-art device in the palace was the telephone.
Risk approached Elisia with a straight face. This girl already knew that her mentor suspected her own partner. It involved infiltration and theft missions.
“You know, Scott reminds me of Hans, who also stole to help us leave the Tanin region. I don't really trust him because of his strong ambition.” Risk held Elisia's shoulders. “Elisia, stay alert!”
“I understand. I think Scott is much better than Hans. He probably won't force me to do anything, especially since I don't understand technology,” Elisia replied.
“He should have asked Upgrade to talk about this.” Risk scratched the back of his head. “Most importantly, we have to stay focused on our goals.”
“Well. Thanks for the warning, Risk,” Elisia responded.
“Wait a minute! Did you just speak politely to me? It seems your memory has returned.”
Elisia looked away. “No, I only learned those words from Dao!”
Risk smiled. “Okay. You can return to your activities with Province.”
Elisia walked to the entrance again. Her mind filled with Scott's dizzying words. She had a lot to learn again in this region. Plus, Elisia was still curious about the Province's familiar background with her past. Suddenly, a message appeared in front of her.
“Mission Objective:”
“Meet your new teammates at a strange place on 15.00 (0/1)”
“Mission reward: 200 Player EXP and 100 Skill EXP”
.
The features of her stat surprised Elisia. It seemed like this was a new feature that hadn’t been unlocked since it was first in this world. Elisia also thought that it seemed like it was a stats system error that should have brought up this feature in the first place. She didn't mind this. This feature made it easier for Elisia to find her travel destination.
After descending from the second floor, Elisia saw Province tidying the dining table. Good opportunity for continued the conversation. But a sad expression was covering the woman's face. Elisia didn’t dare to approach her.
Province glanced at Elisia. A smile broke from her lips. The sadness on her face disappeared.
“Elisia, are you done with your conversation? Did Scott make you dizzy?” Province asked.
“Yeah, a little. I don't understand the technology he was talking about earlier,” Elisia replied.
“He is like that. Runga is the first region in Tanggon with high technological development. You'll get used to it all,” Province said comfortingly.
“Yes. I have to get used to everything in this region, like when I lived in Tanin,” Elisia replied.
“Oh, I remember your question earlier. I can't answer in detail, but I'll just outline it.”
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
“Okay.” Elisia looked down.
“Let's talk in your room!” Province took Elisia back to the second floor.
Arriving at the room, Province closed the door. Elisia was curious about the woman's behavior. She sat on Elisia's bed with a slightly flat face. The girl hesitated to listen Province's answer.
“Well. I will answer it. I hope you're not surprised to hear that,” Province said.
Elisia nodded and sat beside Province.
“I am an archer who had served in your kingdom since you were four years old.”
Elisia surprised to hear that. Her guess had right all along. That was why Elisia felt familiar with Province. Long time ago, there was an archer who liked to meet Elisia when she was a child. She deeply imprinted the color of her purple hair on her memory.
“I'm not sure if you still remember me or not, but seeing you right now makes me happy that you're okay. I've heard about the deaths of your parents. Please accept my condolences.”
“I also feel good that one of the Gwelissa royal soldiers is okay.” Elisia remembered something. “Oh, did you text me?”
“Huh, text what?”
“I don't think you sent the text,” Elisia said.
“You mean the text from The Shadow?” Province made sure.
“The Shadows?”
“Yes. She is also the people who have served in the kingdom of Gwelissa, who lives in Kalay City,” Province answered.
Elisia thought about who this Golden Shadow was. Its stature when Elisia saw it in the mirror was very similar to hers, but more mature. Province's presence as a former Gwelissa royal archer troop made her calm. A glimmer of hope of finding information about her country.
Province walked over to the dressing table to look in the mirror. Her face didn't change at all, just like Province in the past. Her funny and cheerful personality was still the same as before. Elisia remembered when Fox, the old codename of Province, took her on a tour of the palace flower gardens.
“Province, I mean Vivi, do you remember the codename ‘Fox’?" Elisia tried to evoke memories of the past.
“I still remember to this name. A beautiful name, but full of memories of tragedy.” Province stroked her purple hair. “I've left that name and starts a new life with a new name.”
Elisia hugged Province from behind, just like Province hugged her before. With a more comfortable and comforting warmth, the atmosphere dissolved into a sad smile at Elisia. Province made her remember about her parents again, but her heart felt happy because one of the loved ones she had was still alive.
“Oh my, you make me remember when I hugged you when you saw the lizards in the garden. You are never change, Elisia.”
“Thank you, Vivi. You're still in my life.”
Province let go of the hug and turned around to see Elisia's face. “I heard you were making your way back to Gwelissa. I can't come with you, but I wish you good luck getting there.”
Elisia nodded. A cry escaped from her mouth and hugged Province tightly. The desire to return to Gwelissa was increasing. Province also felt the struggle and suffering of Elisia, who lives alone in another country. If only she could save Elisia back then.
After their warm atmosphere ended, Province wiped the tears from Elisia's cheeks. Smiles broke out between them. What a touching reunion.
“I have to go back to the dining table to prepare lunch. You can come with me if you want to help,” Province said.
“I'll catch up.” Elisia wiped away the remaining tears on her cheeks.
“Okay.” After saying that, Province stepped out of the room.
Elisia sat on the bed thinking about the many memories she had with Province, or Fox. Every memory resonated in Elisia's heart. Province was the best woman ever in her life, especially after her sister left.
A thought crossed Elisia's head about the Golden Shadow that Province said. She also remembered what her sister looked like before she disappeared; just like Elisia, with long blonde hair and green irises.
“If Golden Shadow is her, I will be thrilled,” She muttered.
After wiping all the tears with a small towel, Elisia walked out of the room. She wanted to fulfill Province's call to help her in the dining room. Arriving there, Elisia shocked. The food had been laid out neatly on the table and they had swept the floor. Elisia took a deep breath.
Province came from the kitchen carrying a few glasses. The woman looked at Elisia with her head lowered and slightly frowning. She put all the glasses on the table and walked over to the little girl.
“I'm too excited to clean up this room. Sorry if I didn't involve you,” Province said.
“It doesn’t matter. I'll help you clean up the cutlery after lunch,” Elisia replied.
Province smiled. Elisia sat on the dining chair specially prepared for her. Province poured water into a glass, then gave it to Elisia. When looking into the girl's eyes, Province could see puffy and red eyes from hers.
“Elisia, I think you should wash your face. Your eyes are puffy from crying earlier,” Province said.
Elisia felt her eyes, then walked towards the bathroom which was near the kitchen. She washed her face without stopping until the traces of crying were no longer visible. Her eyes were no longer puffy, but they were still red, as if it had irritated them.
After washing her face, Elisia straightened her messy hair. Suddenly, the silhouette of the Golden Shadow appeared in the mirror. The girl startled and walked backwards against the wall. The silhouette was clearly visible before her, smiling sweetly as before.
“Are you....”
“Your journey is near. I'm still waiting for you. See you in the city of Kalay!” The silhouette disappeared.
Elisia's heart beat harder. She felt her chest and tried to look in the mirror again. But the silhouette had left and the same message appeared. Hearing that, Elisia had to complete her mission in Runga in order to go to City of Kalay.
Elisia rushed back to the dining room. Apparently, Risk and his two colleagues were already there. She returned to her seat and took a sip of water. Risk was a little suspicious of Elisia's behavior, but the man remained silent.
“Zach, I think you go back to Tanin,” Elisia said.
Zach responded with a nod and raised his right hand. Elisia confused, but understood that Zach still needed rest after the battle at the Tanin border.
“Actually, he'll be back after the afternoon meeting we're going to have. Captain has asked him to come back,” Risk explained the meaning of Zach's gesture. “Am I right?”
Zach nodded.
“Even though I want Zach to stay here, come with me on the trip,” Elisia replied disappointedly. “But it's okay. Risk still with me.”
Risk turned to Scott and whispered something. Elisia couldn't hear what they were saying, but it seemed like they were talking about a meeting this afternoon. The girl was curious about the meeting she would have.
After a few minutes, Upgrade and Rhino came from the kitchen. They still carried the equipment they used to refine Dao with. However, Dao didn’t show himself.
“Upgrade, where is Dao?” Elisia asked.
He didn't respond and took the glass. Elisia repeated the same question. Upgrade just turned around. Rhino annoyed to see his friends’ indifferent behavior towards their princess.
“We powered Dao on and waiting for the booting process. It will take several hours for the process to complete,” Rhino replied.
“Yes. He'll be fine in a few hours.” Upgrade continued.
Everyone had gathered at the dining table. Scott took the food first, followed by Province. After that, everyone asked Elisia to take some food. Province provided larger cuts of meat. Elisia sat back down. The rest started taking food.
The atmosphere at lunch was calm and joyful. The processed soy sauce meat made by Province was very delicious, coupled with savory spinach vegetables. Elisia remembered that Province once made this beef when they learned to cook in the royal kitchen.
After all the food had devoured, Province and Elisia cleared the plates. They piled it up neatly and took it to the kitchen. They put it in the dishwasher. Province set the dishes in the machine, and the door closed.
“So, we just put all the plates in the machine?” Elisia asked curiously about the machine.
“Yes. The Gwelissa Kingdom also used this machine then.”
Province invited Elisia to sit at the kitchen table. She opened the refrigerator door and took out a jug of yellow drink. The woman poured it into a glass and shifted it to Elisia. She held the glass and smelled it; like oranges. Elisia drank it.
Elisia enjoyed the juice drink with Province on a rather hot afternoon. Even though they live in dense urban areas, the weather was not too hot and cold. The girl was enjoying a more pleasant atmosphere with Province, or Fox.
“Elisia, I wonder how you got to a place so far from the palace? Your location is very far from Gwelissa,” Province asked.
“I remembered that Mom asked me to stand in a strange circle. She cast a spell, and the circle glowed. Its rays took me into a void and ended up in the middle of the Glomouth forest. Oh, I also had a memory loss when I arrived in the forest.” Elisia explained.
“You must have lived a hard life with Risk and his friends. Luckily, they are good people and acquaintances of my husband.”
“I feel lucky to have met them. Risk, Rhino, Upgrade, and Dao. They are extraordinary travelers. In fact, they taught me how to fight,” Elisia said with a smile.
Province sipped the juice. Suddenly, she choked. Elisia just smiled at her. Her eyes looked at the orange juice; rotated like a water shaft. The water made Elisia feel like she saw what would happen to her on the way. The image looked blurry, but the pendulum radiated heat energy.
A message appeared in front of her.
“2 New Achievements Unlocked: Home Care & Reunion.”
“Reward: Player EXP +300.”
.
“You said earlier that you had lost your memory. How did you remember? Did those guys hit you?” Province checked Elisia's head.
Elisia tried to get rid of Province's hand that was ruffling her hair. “No, I'm fine. Please stop holding my hair!”
Province stopped. “Sorry. I'm just worried.”
“You can say, a dream that helped me remember again,” Elisia replied curtly.
“Dream? It sounds strange to me if someone can remember things by dreaming.”
“I'm so serious! After arriving in the forest, I often had dreams about the past, especially the death of my parents. To where I…” Elisia stopped saying. Her tears came out.
Province hugged Elisia to calm her down. Tears broke out in the arms again. 'Fox' stroked the little girl's blonde hair gently. The hug felt comforting to Elisia, but sadness overcame her when she recalled the dream. Tears continued to wet Province's clothes.
After crying, Elisia broke free from Province's embrace. The Province's clothes absorbed her tears, which could be absorbed by the liquid.
“Ugh, sorry for getting your clothes wet. I guess… my heart isn't ready yet… to accept this.”
“Not a problem at all. Scott also wet my clothes a lot.” Province held Elisia's left cheek. “The reality is never sweet, but you have to accept it patiently. Your journey in life still far away. Don't let one problem hold you back. Be tough and strong. Do you understand what I mean?”
Elisia nodded slowly. A smile formed on her lips.
“Good. With your teenage years, I think you can understand what happened to you. I believe that you can survive all these realities.”
Elisia smiled again. “Thank you, Fox!”
Suddenly, Risk came to them with a serious face. He asked Elisia to come along. Looked like it was time for the gathering, though it hadn't yet entered the appointed time.
