Elisia looked at the [Greatsword of Sully] which continued to emit golden light. Heat energy flowed into her body. A sword that heavy but easy to control was in her hand now. Everyone looked on in disbelief, making them think of the same question.
“Elisia, are you… really holding that weapon?” Risk asked, who didn’t leave to city.
“I don’t know what happened! Just that this sword almost fell, so I-“
“Elisia is The Chosen One. Elisia can use that ability.” Dao cut.
Elisia still couldn't believe this. The sword of legend, which was coveted by many peoples, belonged to her. Elisia gripped the sword with both hands. It could reflect her face from the side of the blade. The golden light faded, and the sword revealed its true form. The hilt was black with lava-like crack lines, the dark gray blade, and magma stone ornaments adorned on it.
“Zach, do you think what I think?” Risk whispered to Zach, who was on his left.
The man responded with a nod of his head and handed him a piece of paper. Risk reading it.
“That means I will be the main attacker?” Elisia confirmed.
Risk walked over to her. “You have no choice. You're the only one who can wield that sword. Captain should know this.”
Zach ran to the 1st floor quickly. Dao and Upgrade also approached Elisia to inspect the [Greatsword of Sully]. The sword looked elegant and suited with Elisia, that was the view of Upgrade. Testing the temperature of the sword, Upgrade stuck the tip of the pen to the body of the sword. The pen melted.
“We need to test the ability of this sword to attack something, so we know how strong this sword destroys the enemy's defense,” Upgrade said.
“I think so, but we can't use its great abilities carelessly. It can be dangerous for us and those around us.” Elisia objected.
“We have to ask Captain's opinion first. He was the one who had this plan,” Risk countered.
Violet returned to the 2nd floor with Zach and Captain, who was eating satay. They approached the crowd that was surrounding Elisia. It surprised them when they saw the little girl holding the [Greatsword of Sully]. Captain stopped chewing the food and gaped at his gaze.
“Elisia, is that… Sully's sword?” Violet asked to be sure, just like Risk.
Elisia nodded. Violet and Captain approached Elisia to confirm this scene. The same sword shape, with the same ornament, they nodded together.
“But, how did you get hold of that sword?” Captain asked.
Dao clapped his hands. “Now Dao understands. The reason that Elisia able to wield the sword because Elisia was a descendant of the king. According to the information from my memory, Naumann was a legendary royal family clan, especially since King Naumann I ruled Gwelissa. Almost all the kings in Gwelissa were legend, so Dao can say that Elisia is a descendant of kings and legends.”
“That's quite reasonable.” Captain devoured one satay. “Elisia, do you know how to use that sword?”
“I don’t know yet.” Elisia shook her head. “But I will learn it through the book you gave me.”
“That book, huh? I didn't know that book contained information about swords.”
Risk turned to Captain. “What's your next plan, Captain?”
“We'll talk about it later. Now, let's rest and be quiet first. I'm afraid the guard we fought will recognize one of us earlier.” Captain walked up to the 1st floor stairs.
Upgrade went to his party friend. “Guys, there's something I want to talk about in my room!”
“What else do you want to say? You can say it here.” Risk responded.
“This is a serious case.” Upgrade turned to Violet. ”Violet, can we get some privacy here?”
"Oh, of course you can. Zach and I will go out today. Right, Zach?”
Zach surprised and shrugged.
“I'll tell you later. Let's go for a walk to town!” Violet pulled Zach's hand out of the main room.
Upgrade invited everyone to the room at the back of the building. The room was quite spacious and untidy with Upgrade’s stuff. The items surprised Elisia, even though Upgrade brought a little stuff during the trip. Pale-white man opened a smartphone-like device and typed on a virtual keyboard.
“This talk might affect our trip to Po village. Thanks to Dao, who spying earlier, I discovered something surprising.” Upgrade continued typing on the virtual keyboard.
“Does it have anything to do with Ursa agents again?” Risk guessed.
Upgrade didn’t respond to Risk's question. The gray-haired man glanced at the Dao. Only a shrug was the answer from Dao. Elisia also curious about what was happening. During the battle a few times ago, Elisia saw many strange logos on the left arm of the guards. A logo resembling an eagle spreading its wings, as well as several star symbols on the bird's chest.
Upgrade showed its findings to everyone. Elisia saw the same logo she saw earlier. Risk nodded and smiled.
“That… the logo I saw earlier!” Elisia said.
“Right. It was the logo of the Ursa empire. I had suspected that the auction was being held by someone from the empire, either an agent or a noble there. During an undercover mission, I heard Kontara's name from one of the invited guest. That means the mastermind was still the same person.”
“Looks like we're going to be dealing with something even more powerful. I'm tired of dealing with Ursa's agents,” Risk commented.
Elisia raised her hand. “Who really is Kontara? Why is he always involved everywhere?”
Upgrade held Elisia's left cheek. “I can't tell you in detail, but you can say he's the one we have to kill to stop the evil plot.”
“Then, does Upgrade know about Kontara's plan to hold the sword auction?” Dao cut off the conversation.
“I'm still figuring it out, but I think he's trying to sell that sword to someone who lives in Tanggon. I don't know who.” Upgrade looked at his smartphone screen again. “I'm afraid Elisia is in danger again like before.”
“Should I tell this to my friends? Maybe they can help.” Risk offered to help.
“I’m not sure. Agent of Ursa is a group of people who always have a devious plan. Special forces like you will be very overwhelmed if you face them,” Upgrade replied.
“So, what are we going to do now?” Elisia asked.
Upgrade silent for a moment. His face was flat with eyes that couldn’t be separated from the screen.
“We will keep this a secret from anyone. When the time comes, I'll tell everything myself.”
After the conversation over, Elisia went to the rooftop to get some fresh air again. The room temperature since this afternoon was hot, because Risk told her of the Orion constellation. The sky had turned dark and the air temperature had become cooler. From the door, Elisia saw Zach standing on the fence at the edge of the building.
“Zach, I thought you were out with Violet.” Elisia said as approached the man.
Zach turned his head, then took out a book to write something down. He gave his writings to Elisia. The sky was not fully night yet and the light from the oil lamp that Zach brought allowed Elisia to read the book.
She just took me to the deli at the end of the alley. I also bought food at the table near the oil lamp.
Elisia turned towards the oil lamp. There was a package lying nearby. Elisia inhaled the fragrant aroma from inside the package. She opened it, various kinds of small cakes greeted her eyes.
“Zach, can I eat it?”
Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.
Zach cleared his throat, which meant Elisia could eat it. The girl took a red cake. She examined it for a while before biting into it. The cake went into her mouth. First chew was crunchy like a cookie. The second chew and so on, the taste of strawberry, enveloped her tongue.
Zach walked over to the oil lamp to sit down. Elisia shifted the chair for Zach. They sat opposite each other. Elisia's heartbeat got out of control, just like her first encounter with Christ. She touched her chest and turned around. Her face flushed involuntarily.
Zach handed Elisia a piece of paper. The girl read it.
You blush so easily, don't you? As a princess, I'm not surprised.
Elisia blushed even more than she read the writing. Her face still didn't dare to look at Zach, who was sitting quietly, looking up at the sky. Elisia turned around again to take the cake. This time, she got the orange flavor. The cake made Elisia's tongue slightly sour because the fruit taste was very strong.
Throwing all those thoughts aside, Elisia's goal on the rooftop had to be accomplished. Her nose drew a lot of air around. It filled the lungs with less fresh air, then exhaled again. Tanin's slum environment made the air were not so good. Very different from Grasswood, which was beautiful and full of trees.
An idea to chat with Zach came to mind. She glanced at the man, but Zach seemed to write something down. His face was so serious that ignored the insects that landed on his hands. Therefore, Elisia returned to the room.
Suddenly, her hand grabbed by Zach. Elisia looked up curiously. Zach's face was flat.
“Wait...!” he said hoarsely.
Zach handed Elisia another piece of paper. Elisia suspected that Zach wanted to tell her something. The writing on the paper was long enough to read, even with good lighting. Elisia noticed that Zach worried about her safety for being the owner of the [Greatsword of Sully].
“Like I always tell you, I'll be fine. You don't have to worry about me,” Elisia said with a smile.
Elisia grabbed Zach's right hand. The man could feel the gentle hand of a princess, even though Elisia often held a weapon. Elisia moved the man's hand to touch her chest. Normal heartbeat made Zach widen.
“Now, I want you to believe that I will be fine. I trust you who have helped me all this time. In return, I will help you.” Elisia continued.
Zach felt something different from before. Zach's eyes seemed to be blinded by the golden light emanating from Elisia. The girl removed Zach's hand from her chest and walked to the door. She felt more relieved after saying that to Zach, though her mind was a mix of nervousness and joy.
Zach stopped Elisia's steps again. The girl turned. The man's mouth lingered.
“Thank you.... I... believe...”
Elisia smiled. “Let's fight together in this region!”
Elisia came in to lie down for a while on the bed. She wanted to see [Greatsword of Sully] once again use [Telum Experto], and look for related abilities in [Hex Aegis]. Her stomach growled suddenly. Elisia realized that it was already dinner time. Finally, the girl checked the 2nd floor.
The state of the main room was rather quiet, with no food served on the table. There was only Upgrade and a bowl of soup he was eating. No activity or sound. Elisia approached her party mates. Just a few steps closer to the table, Upgrade noticed Elisia's arrival.
“Elisia, are you hungry? Risk bought this [Mohinga] for you.” Upgrade sliding plastic bag.
Elisia sat opposite Upgrade while opening the pouch. The smell of the broth that resembled fish caught her nose. Her appetite increased, as did her level increase. Elisia pulled the plate that had been provided to put the food called [Mohinga].
The noodle-like food slid onto the plate, followed by the broth and filling. Elisia tried one mouthful. The taste of the fish stock, mixed with the thick and chewy noodles, made Elisia's tongue sway. She devoured the food as a dinner menu. Upgrade glanced and irritated with Elisia.
“Eat slowly!” he said.
Elisia stopped after sipping the remaining noodles in her mouth. “Ugh, sorry! This food is delicious!”
“You like all kinds of food, apparently. As a princess, you have an adventurous spirit too.”
A memory flashed through her head while sipping the broth. Elisia felt like she had said that she wanted to be an adventurer around the world, to discover new things in her life. As usual, the memories were vague and had to be dug a little deeper.
After finishing [Mohinga], Elisia leaned back on the dining chair. Elisia's stomach felt full of food tonight. She admitted the food at Tanin was very delicious. Upgrade smiled as he watched his little girl enjoy the meal she had actually bought the wrong way.
“Upgrade, where is everyone? I was chatting with Zach on the rooftop.” Elisia asked.
“Risk went with Dao and Captain Hans out. I don't know where they are. Violet is on the 1st floor. She said she was cleaning up the toolshed.”
In an opportunity like this, Elisia wanted to ask Upgrade some questions she didn't know yet. Judging by his stature and speech, the pale man seemed to know everything, especially about the agents who always graced her ears. However, her tongue felt as lame as before.
"If there's something you want to say, just say it!” Upgrade answered suddenly, as if he knew what was on her mind.
“May I? Do you promise nothing covered up again like before?”
Upgrade sighed. “Just ask. I think you're ready to accept this complicated answer.”
“I'm curious about you. In my eyes, you are a volunteer medic and mechanic. But, I think you are definitely not just a medic,” Elisia started the interrogation.
“Why do you think like that?”
“Because the way you talk and explain things makes me suspect that you're not just a medic and mechanic. Do you want to answer this question?”
“Your intuition is very good. I'm impressed.” Upgrade sipped a glass of water. “So you really want to know who I am?”
Elisia silent for a moment. She could hear the wind that was outside the building rubbing against the walls. Upgrade folded his arms across chest to see how far his little girl's curiosity was.
“We've come a long way. We have spent the days together. It would be nice if we got to know each other. I hope you're not hiding anything this time.”
Upgrade sighed heavily. The little girl had grown up and her curiosity was getting bigger. The man couldn't hold it in any longer. Eventually, he would definitely say it.
“Actually, I'm a robotic researcher who often travels around the world in search of good materials for the endoskeleton. I also frequently communicate with several agents. They were very troublesome with their desires. I quit and seek a new life with Dao.”
“Is Kontara one of those agents who always come to you?”
“Yes. He always asked me something crazy until I disappeared from him. But, it looked like he is really smart to find me.” Upgrade moved from chairs to clear dishes.
Seeing Upgrade's behavior made Elisia stop asking. There were still many things to ask, but at least Elisia had gotten the answer she wanted. Elisia opened [Telum Experto] to learn the power of the [Greatsword of Sully].
Elisia got information about its power. Apparently, the [Greatsword of Sully], whose base power was lava, had the same amount of energy as the eruption of Mount Octavius that occurred hundred of years ago. This sword could destroy forts, buildings, moats, and city.
Elisia's body trembled suddenly. The weapon she currently wielded was extremely terrifying. That's why so many people after it. However, Elisia must stay focused on the Captain's mission. He went back to reading the book.
Because of the [Greatsword of Sully] could only use as a weapon of destruction, its use should be limited. The sword could drain (Skill Point) and (Stamina) very much on each wearer. So, it should store immediately this sword after use.
“That means, I can't hold this weapon continuously in battle, except to use it to destroy something.” Elisia muttered to herself.
Elisia found the used of weapon. Its use was like using a spear slash. Under some conditions, [Greatsword of Sully] could fill with its abilities using (Skill Point) and (Stamina) until it reached the maximum point, after which slashed it at the target.
“I have to try this method so I won’t be surprised to use it. However, I also can't carelessly use this sword here.”
Elisia closed [Telum Experto] and saved back into [Flame Pendulum]. Elisia had already got many unknowns, such as the background of Upgrade and [Greatsword of Sully]. The girl felt that there was a memory that made her curiosity continue to increase. In fact, Elisia's fondness for reading books was actually unconscious.
She tried to remember all the dreams she had so far. Only a few still recorded in her head, but some had disappeared like they burned. Elisia only found three keywords; Gwelissa, Naumann, and Kazimriez.
Unknowingly, the atmosphere had become quiet. Time had shown the dark sky. There was no activity, even Upgrade and Violet, who were at home, had no longer active. Maybe it was time to rest.
Elisia walked into the room with heavy eyes. Sleepiness invaded her eyes again every night. The mission she was carrying out was enough to tire her out, even though she had become a Vanguard. The girl removed all the attributes from her body, including the [Necklace of Fortune] and the dress she was wearing.
The slightly exposed body lie on the soft mattress. The air temperature was slightly high, so Elisia had to sleep naked and covered her body with a blanket. With a blurred vision, Elisia closed her eyes. In an instant, it already immersed Elisia in a dream.
...
This time, Elisia was in the middle of a flower garden. The wind blew so gently that all the flowers waved to greet the girl. She walked down the path to a glowing gazebo.
Along the way, Elisia saw several figures with glowing white bodies standing facing the gazebo. There seemed to be something interesting there. Upon arriving, several white figures greeted Elisia, blocking the inside of the gazebo.
Reluctantly, Elisia pushed her way through the crowd to find out what was going on. The figures didn't hold her back and allowed their body to be pushed by the little girl. Elisia broke through the crowd and greeted by two figures she had seen many times in her previous dreams.
They approached Elisia with a golden light that enveloped the body. Elisia's eyes were slightly glaring, but both of their faces were still visible. They hugged Elisia gently and affectionately. However, the blonde-haired girl confused.
“Wait, who are you?” she asked.
The two figures smiled. The female figure grabbed Elisia's right hand and rolled up the girl's sleeve. A black mark was visible on her skin. The woman also showed the same mark on her hand. It surprised Elisia to notice there was such a mark on her hand and realized something.
“You are... my parents?”
A male figure knelt before Elisia with both hands holding Elisia's shoulders.
“My only daughter, forgive your father, who had to leave you alone in this mortal world. I didn't mean to do that to you, and neither did your mother.”
“Yes, my sweety. I'm also sorry for taking you away to face this harsh world. However, seeing you happy all this time makes us smile happily. We feel at ease, because our daughter has found a new life.”
Elisia's tears rolled down her cheeks. She couldn't hold it in anymore. With all the sadness in her heart, Elisia let it all go. The two figures hugged their daughter back.
“Why… Why do you have the heart to leave me alone in this world?!” Elisia let out all her emotions.
The two figures just smiled with tears in their eyes. Elisia felt angry, and sad to accept this. All the dreams that had been haunting her had come true.
“My daughter, it seems we have to go to an immortal place far from here. We will miss you very much.” The father let go of the hug, followed by the mother.
Elisia cried loudly and didn't want to let them go. The two figures boarded the golden horse carriage that the white figures had prepared. After that, the golden-winged horse race to leave the place. Elisia wanted to chase after the carriage, but white hands held her back.
Finally, Elisia stopped crying after all the white figures left. The beautiful flower garden turned to wither. Sky turned dark by itself. The girl was still kneeling there with an overflowing heart.
“Why… why did this happen to me?”
