36. Sewer

Elisia woke up on a rather cloudy morning with a heavy feeling. She still remembered everything that happened in her dream last night. The girl didn't know what to do. Surrender to accepting fate was all she could do.

Elisia got up from the bed to go to the window. She could see the outside glass filled with water droplets. Cracked the window, cold air immediately slipped in. Elisia's slender body shivered. However, she left the window opened even though water entered her room.

The girl's feeling were so upset that she didn't want to do anything all day. Memories that had been hiding the facts unfolded one by one. Elisia could see all the events that had happened to her during staying at Gwelissa’s palace. It still etched many memories in her heart.

“Mom, forgive me. I can't protect you. If only I had been this strong from a long time ago, that would never have happened.”

Elisia annoyed with herself. The wooden walls were an outlet for her frustration. Anger mixed with disappointment and sadness brought up a man in her memory who had been present in her dreams. She remembered the man's face very well. The desire for revenge peaked in her heart.

“Should I discuss this with Upgrade and the others?” She thought. “Maybe I should hide it for a while.”

Elisia put the thought aside for a while and walked out of the room. The smell of cooking from the second floor wafted her nose. Her stomach rumbled again, a sign that it needed to be filled. She stepped down, following the aroma of the food until everyone had greeted her in the main room.

Zach approached Elisia quickly and asked her to sit down. Elisia complied with the request. They served the food on the table, with the smoke still coming out. After the girl sat down, everyone followed Elisia.

“What's wrong with you guys this morning? Looks like you're having fun.” Elisia was curious.

“You can say that. Captain Hans looks thrilled today because of what happened yesterday. You're the one who makes him happy,” Risk replied.

“What? Me? I did nothing special yesterday.”

“You don't have to think about that.” Captain Hans grabbed Elisia's head from behind. “Thanks to you, we will have a plan to leave this region for another region.”

“Yes. The sword you wielded yesterday will be the key, as we talked about before.” Violet continued.

“Stop talking! Let's eat this food quickly while it's warm!” Rhino pulled the plate in front of him and took some food.

Everyone followed Rhino. Elisia lost her appetite suddenly because of her dream last night, but it would fill her stomach with air if she didn't add food. The girl took two spoons of [Fried Rice] and an [Omelette]. She devoured it slowly to get full quickly.

All the faces that Elisia saw today looked happy. The overcast sky outside and the sound of water dripping on the roof tiles reversed with the warm and friendly conditions inside the house. Her mind spun.

“I guess... this is the reason they took me away from the palace.”

Suddenly, Zach gave a piece of [Fried Chicken] to Elisia's plate. She turned to the man. His warm smile made Elisia eat the food. It tasted quite good, just like in her memories of living in the palace. Because of [Fried Chicken], Elisia took another spoonful of [Fried Rice].

“If you're hungry, you can finish one plate. You don't need to think about Dao.” Rhino replied when he saw her.

“Dao can't eat, Rhino!”

“Eat a lot, Elisia! Today, we will test the sword's abilities in a special place,” Captain Hans said.

“Special place? Where is that?” Elisia asked.

“Just follow. It's quite far from here. You should save your energy for later.”

After breakfast, Elisia sat on a chest near the stairs to read [Hex Aegis] for information on [Duetto]. It amazed Elisia at the ability of the skill. A skill similar to [Molten Flame], but capable of hitting two targets and lowering the enemy's RES. She checked the stats.

Elisia thought that [Greatsword of Sully] had the link with [Duetto] skill, being able to spit fire. However, there was no information in [Hex Aegis] that was directly related to the sword. She opened [Telum Experto], still no such information. Previously, Elisia had seen the description in the [Fire Dublin Spear]. Suddenly, she checked it.

"What a great skill," she thought.

Elisia took out the [Greatsword of Sully] to hold it. The sword felt hot when Elisia touched the blade. The lava ornaments lit up like heat flew through them. In fact, Elisia felt an extremely strong flow of energy.

“Apparently, it’s going to take my [Stamina] and [Skill Point] dry. I have to be careful.”

They gathered again everyone in the main room. Elisia already knew what they were doing today, just as Captain had said earlier. However, the girl confused because as far as the eye could see from the roof it was all buildings. There hardly found a field large enough to practice her ability for use [Greatsword of Sully].

“Well. I have something to say on this cloudy day. I, along with Risk and Violet, will travel to the sewers of Tanin to test the power of the [Greatsword of Sully].” Captain Hans opened the meeting.

“Is it safe enough to train there? We have to keep Elisia's whereabouts a secret from those bandits,” Upgrade asked.

“Most of the bandits here are always testing their weapons in those sewers. We've also have practicing there a lot. Plus, Zach checked the place earlier,” Violet explained.

“Don’t worry! We will protect Elisia no matter what.” Captain convinced Upgrade.

“Then, which way are we going to get to that place?” Risk cut off the conversation.

“We will go through the main road of Tanin, then pass through an alley. "Aren't you coming with me later?”

“I'm just making sure we don't go through dangerous areas.”

“Almost places in Tanin are dangerous.” Violet answered. “The law in this city says the strongest will win.”

“Is there something on your mind, Risk?” Captain asked.

Risk silent for a moment. Elisia, who was watching him, guessed that all of this was because of her. She approached Risk while pulling his hand.

“You always worry about me whenever I make trouble. You also always hurt me in every practice. I already felt the wound you created, but I recovered. So you have to trust me and don't worry about me anymore. We'll be fine.”

Risk looked up with a straight face. His gaze was rather sharp on Elisia's face, who was trying to calm him down. Risk was unfazed by her words. Elisia disappointed, but she knew that Risk always thought of her safety.

The man's flat gaze turned to Captain. “When are we going there?”

Captain smiled and patted Risk on the shoulder. “You always surprise me, comrade. We're leaving in ten minutes. We will disguise ourselves as ordinary Tanin citizens.”

Elisia's heart was happy with Risk's response, who still believed in her. They walked down to the 1st floor to take disguise costumes as dark colored and slightly shabby clothes. Elisia took a dress to try on. The clothes were comfortable enough for her body.

She tied her long hair in a ponytail. The strand of blonde hair felt soft and fragrant, even though he hadn't showered for days. After that, Elisia took a [Hat] near the shirt holder to complete her disguise. All clothes had been worn. She showed it to Risk.

“Risk, don't I look like Elisia?” she said.

Risk silent with a flat face while holding his chin. "I barely recognized you. Matching attributes, Elisia!”

“Thank you. I only took the clothes that had been marked for me.”

After that, Elisia went to the 3rd floor to pick up the [Necklace of Fortune] and [Christ' Pendant] that were lying on the bedroom table. When picking it up, the [Christ pendant] opened and a love symbol appeared. The girl recalled the memories of her love with Christ in Grasswood.

“I wish you can come along on this trip.”

Then Elisia walked back to the 1st floor to meet her friends. Apparently, they had put on some attributes that made them looked like the citizen of Tanin. With few accessories, they looked shabby.

“I barely recognized you by that appearance,” Elisia said.

“You too, but I suggest keeping your hair short. I'm afraid the bandits will recognize it,” Captain said.

Elisia untied her hair and let her hair fall long. Then Elisia tied her hair in piles so that her hair looked short. Even though it made difficult for her to wear the [Hat], Elisia could still adjust the ponytail.

Then, Captain gathered everyone who went on this journey. “Just in case Elisia will walk behind me, followed by Violet. Risk will walk behind. We're going pretty fast, so your feet need to be ready.”

“Got it, Captain!” Risk and Violet replied.

Elisia confused, but maybe she could use her (Agility) to walk fast. She saw Captain opened the front door. The rain had greeted them with a sizable drop. As predicted by Risk through the constellations, it would rain in the Tanin region.

Captain nodded his head, then their footsteps stepped on the wet ground. Raindrops that fell quick attacked Elisia's body. Just a few steps from the house, her body already drenched. Unbidden, the [Flame Pendulum] emitted heat that made Elisia warm.

They went through the alley that Elisia had passed when she first arrived in Tanin. A puddle of water greeted them, but passed them by. She raised her palms and collected the rainwater. The cold mixed with the heat from her body made the water felt fresh when she washed it on her face.

“Captain, do we have to break through this heavy rain just to train Elisia?” Risk asked in the rain.

“I can't wait to see Elisia's prowess. Rain is no obstacle.”

Their journey stopped at the end of the alley. The main road of Tanin greeted them with horse-drawn carriages and passing cars. They walked to the left, following the current of the road. Some civilians seemed to do activities even though it was raining. Elisia felt her [Overheat Substitution] activate because [Sixth Sense] caught bandits nearby.

Even though it was just a low level bandit, Elisia had to be wary. She continued to follow Captain Hans' footsteps from behind. In the rain like this, the bandits still roam the corners of the streets. It seemed they were looking for her friends who stolen the [Greatsword of Sully] from them.

Dripping wet, Elisia saw a tall building that read ‘Hotel Grenada’. The girl felt something bad as she crossed the place. Her green irises saw four people carrying crossbow-like weapons, but there were bullets underneath.

Suddenly, Captain turned right and entered the alley again. Several roofs seemed to cover the small path, so Elisia and her friends could take shelter for a while. They stopped for a moment to catch their breath. She looked at the shivering Violet. Her slender body couldn't stand the cold sting of the rain.

“Violet, hug me!” Elisia asked.

Violet surprised for a moment, but complied. The woman's body immediately felt warm. In fact, she breathed a sigh of relief from the moisture escaping from her clothes. The hug grew tighter until Elisia couldn't breathe. Realizing that her little friend was struggling, Violet let go of Elisia's body.

“I'm sorry, Elisia! Your body is very warm and makes me comfortable. I'm sure you didn't shiver all the way through.”

“We're almost there. Let's continue our walk!”

Captain stepped again. The alley they were walking was getting darker as if they were about to enter a tunnel. The streets turned completely dark. Captain turned on the flashlight to inspect the tunnel. The rats started running into the muddy tunnel. A pungent smell wafted through Elisia's nose.

After walking down the hall, a rusty bar door stopped them. Captain unlocked the door easily and entered. Elisia felt that the surrounding passage was bigger than the tunnel passage earlier. She saw Captain, who was looking for something on the hallway wall. After being found, the hallway lights came on suddenly.

The large sewers decorated with yellow lights amazed Elisia. She didn’t expect that there was a tunnel of this size under Tanin. Captain continued on to one culvert on the left. Inwardly, Elisia wondered what such a big culvert under the region was for.

“These sewers may amaze you. This is where we will test the power of Sully's sword that you have. A slightly soundproof hallway will allow us to practice without disturbing the people upstairs,” Captain explained.

“But why should it be in the sewers?” Elisia was curious.

“Because there is no large field in this area. There are only these abandoned sewers we can use.”

The stench stung her nostrils again. From a distance, he saw a small insect swarming around something dark. The smell grew stronger as it passed through it, much like the smell of carrion. It was fortunate that Elisia could endure the stench, or else she would have vomited.

They kept walking down the muddy and smelly sewer. Finally, a large culvert that became a crossroads they had reached. The half destroyed place with large cracks in the walls. The land there was rather dry. Elisia took off her disguise to dry in this place.

“Welcome to the Tanin sewer! It might be strange if we practice here, but this is the only safe place to test powerful weapons,” Captain said.

Elisia took out the [Greatsword of Sully] from the [Flame Pendulum]. She fingered the blade slowly. The lava ornament on it instantly lit up. Risk who saw it smiled a little.

“Hold the handle with both hands, then align the position with your chest.”

Elisia gripped the sword with both hands. She lifted it to chest level. Her hand was so straight that the force of the blade wouldn't hurt her. The girl’s eyes were tightly closed until the hot energy from the sword flowed into her body.

Closing her eyes, Elisia could hear the conversation between Risk and Captain Hans. Risk said that this practice could be very dangerous because they didn't know how powerful the sword was. However, Captain denied that they would be fine. Elisia hesitated to try the sword, considering the surrounding wall cracked her big.

“That's enough! Stop your arguing! We have little time,” Violet said, interrupting them.

“Okay!” Captain turned to Elisia. “Start testing the sword!”

Risk sighed and tried to be patient in responding. “Raise that sword to your head!”

Elisia did. Her body felt the (Stamina) suction into the sword. It looked like the sword would gather energy. According to [Telum Experto], the [Greatsword of Sully] could deal enormous damage if its energy held to its maximum.

Everyone near Elisia immediately felt the heat. Sweat dripped from the foreheads of each person there. The floor of the culvert also became dry in an instant. Elisia opened her eyes and focused on one of the solid walls. Energy gathering was almost at its maximum.

“It's so hot in here!” Violet said, continuing to wipe the sweat. “Looks like it will be very dangerous. Should we take cover?”

“If we can endure this heat, we'll be fine,” Captain replied.

“Aaa… I don't think it's normal heat. I'm not sure if Elisia can withstand this much power. We have to take cover!” Risk ran towards the main door of the sewer.

Just before Risk left, [Greatsword of Sully] had reached its max level. Elisia swung the sword down. A slash of fire shot out from the sword and flew towards the wall. The massive attack that Elisia launched stunned everyone.

The attack hit the wall to shreds. The resulting explosion caused a great vibration. Ceiling of the culvert crumbled, and it rained sand on everyone. After using the sword, Elisia's body felt weak. She sat weakly with a slightly blurred vision.

Risk approached Elisia. “Elisia, are you okay?”

Elisia looked at Risk's face. She checked the stats to see what had happened to her. Something took her by surprise.

Risk took out a potion from his small bag. He poured the green-colored potion into Elisia's mouth. His little girl's body reacted and had a momentary spasm. Elisia felt like she was recovering like before instantly. She felt her [Stamina] fully charged again.

“We have to get out of this place!” Risk said.

After taking the [Greatsword of Sully] to put back into the [Flame Pendulum], Elisia ran to the main sewer door with her friends. The sewer room started shake as if it was about to collapse. Dust from the ceiling rained down on them.
