37. Story of Past

After successfully leaving the sewer, they stopped for a moment at the mouth of the passage. They still felt the vibrations until it reached their position. Elisia started thinking that the [Greatsword of Sully] was too dangerous to use as a combat weapon. The damage it created was too great and drained her [Stamina].

“Are you satisfied now, Captain?” Risk sarcastic. “If we don't get out of there soon, we're going to be waffles.”

Captain sat on top of a box. “You are right. Maybe we should test it in the field.”

“Hopefully that vibe doesn't invite a bunch of people to come here.” Violet glanced back. Her words were wrong.

Several people in suits surrounded them from outside the hall. Violet poked everyone to turn their head. Risk and Captain looked at each other with flat eyes. Risk hid Elisia behind his body. The girl could see the weapons being carried were like those of the people in front of the hotel.

One of them came up to Elisia and her friends. With the cigarette lit in his mouth, the man in the suit with the red armband on his left gazed at them. Elisia saw him as an who had better combat ability than an ordinary .

“I think I've seen you guys before.” The man stepped closer. “That’s right. The ones who stole Sully's sword yesterday. I'm sure you guys must test the sword here.”

The man glanced behind Risk, along with Elisia peeking from behind him. The man narrowed his eyes and smiled. He smoked his cigarette and exhaled the smoke from his lungs.

“You guys are lucky enough to bring along a princess who hunted by her own kingdom. They will surely pay you immeasurably. I envy you.”

Violet smiled idly. “Of course. We will take her back to her kingdom and take the money from them. Why? Because we are better than you.”

The woman turned to Captain with a wink. Captain walked over to the man in the suit gallantly.

“She's right. In fact, your entire army cannot defeat us.” Captain walked up to Elisia and pulled her hand away. Elisia felt Captain pressing the button on her bracelet.

The man threw his cigarette on the ground. “I can say, I wish you luck to bring back the princess. I won’t interfere in your business. After all, our master has given up Sully's sword that you stole.”

Everyone shocked. Elisia couldn't believe those words. She remembered what her mother used to say, that you shouldn't trust someone you just met before you know who he was. Elisia also thought that their Master was Kontara, the name who Upgrade always called.

Elisia checked the bracelet that Captain was holding earlier. The button pinned, he had pressed it and turned red. Elisia was happy and relieved, because something was coming.

Suddenly, one of the Markman attacked from behind by something unseen. Everyone turned their heads, including Elite Markman. Captain and Risk used that opportunity to attack all Markman. Violet carried Elisia through the fight and back into the torrential rain.

The woman grabbed Elisia's hand to run to the end of the alley. However, the Markman confronted them with pointed weapons. Violet silent for a moment and turned to Elisia. Elisia's wet head nodded slowly. Elisia folded her right arm back and took out a [Fire Dublin Spear].

Violet dropped small objects onto the ground. There was an explosion. The smoke from the explosion immediately enveloped the Markman's vision. Elisia ran towards them with the spear on her back. She activated [Duetto] and started slashing her spear. The attack hit two Markman simultaneously. The girl continued the attack until she defeated the remaining six Markman.

Risk and Captain approached them to check things out. Dao appeared before them by surprise. Just as she expected, the robot man had come after the button of the bracelet pressed. They ran in the pouring rain to avoid the other Markman.

Captain asked them to turn into a fairly narrow alley. Elisia's steps slightly hampered because the roads were muddy and full of garbage. After struggling through the road, they arrived at the front yard of the house. Everyone walked in.

With a little shortness of breath, Elisia arrived home again. All of her friends looked tired with their bodies wet from the heavy rain. Upgrade and Rhino, who was at home, rushed down the stairs. The first person to get their attention was Elisia. Rhino dried her little girl's entire body with a dry towel.

Risk walked up to Captain with a feeling of irritation and heavy steps. He cornered Captain against the building wall, so he couldn't move anywhere. Hans remained silent under these circumstances.

“Your actions got us into trouble! I've already told you that Elisia's true identity must hide at all costs!” Risk exclaimed angry.

“We did it as we planned. I pressed the alert button on Elisia's bracelet and waited for help to arrive,” Captain responds.

“You can do it secretly! If you have a little patience, we won't be in any new trouble like this!”

Violet interrupted the two of them. “Stop it! Our current debate won't solve the problem! As long as those guys don't find us here, we'll be safe. We can come up with a new plan to leave the region.”

Risk turned around and took off his robe. Captain stayed where he was saying nothing else. Elisia sensed the annoyance of Risk, who was angry at his captain's selfish decision. The girl also felt a tremendous (Stamina) drain from using [Greatsword of Sully]. She had learned something that could suppress the drain.

Risk walked to the stairs to the second floor. No one dared to approach him. Upgrade restrained rhino, who wanted to follow him,. Elisia felt sad seeing her friend angry like that. She approached Captain to say something.

“Captain, what is your real plan? Why do you want to see the ability of that sword?”

Captain knelt before Elisia. “I'm sorry, Elisia. I have sacrificed you in my selfishness. I just… wanted to help you get out of this region.”

“Then, how important is that sword to your plan?”

“In my plan, I will use that sword to destroy the guardrail that Sicilian made so that we can safely pass through them. After that, we will go to our house in the Runga region.”

“You mean, those markman…” Elisia thought.

"Yes. Those Markman were Sicilians. A mafia organization based in Lung city and building a new headquarters in Tanin. They were the ones who turned this slum into a business field for all the bandits.” Captain explained. “The guardrail is next to their base. So, I want to destroy it.”

“Wait a moment! So, your real plan is to destroy The Sicilian?” Violet cut off the conversation.

Captain sat on the crate holding his head. “I didn't know that Risk's response would be like that.”

“It's because there's me on this trip.” Elisia replied. “Everyone knows that I am the most wanted person in Tanggon. He was trying to look after and protect me.”

Elisia approached Captain and felt his hands. “Captain, understand the current situation! If you go on a mission with Risk, maybe Risk dares to do something reckless. However, it’s my existence that changed Risk. Trust him!”

Captain silent for a moment hearing Elisia's words. He couldn’t give any answer from this incident. Elisia turned to everyone who was watching and walked to the stairs of the 1st floor. Her friends could only watch without daring to get in the way. Captain continued to watch the little girl climb the stairs. Everyone left Captain alone in the room.

When she climbed to the 2nd floor, a message appeared in front of Elisia.

“Battle Result:”

“Damage deal = 4000 points”

.

“Total EXP:”

“400 × 8 = 3200 EXP”

.

“Skill EXP”

“Total EXP × 50% = 1600 EXP”

.

“Your level up to 19”

“Bonus: ATK +5, RES +0,1%, Max HP limit +16, Stamina limit +10, Skill Point limit +6”

.

“Your Max HP, Stamina, and Skill Points restored!”

.

Elisia looked for Risk on the 2nd floor, but only Zach was there. With a movement of his body, he pointed upwards. The risk was definitely there. Elisia climbed the stairs to the 3rd floor. The floor door wide opened, showing that someone was on the roof floor. After exiting the door, she saw Risk sitting on a small wooden box with an artificial table.

With the rain still pouring down, the man sat doing nothing. Elisia worried that her mentor would fall ill from getting soaked. However, there was nothing she could do but watch Risk being hit by the rain. Elisia took the umbrella near the door.

Haven't stepped foot to approach him, Risk had turned around. Elisia stood still, looking at Risk's expression, which was flatter than usual with wet bangs. Seeing Risk's face made Elisia afraid to approach him. The girl could feel of her mentor's broken heart.

Risk got up from the chair and walked over to her. She felt an intense tremor from her body as her mentor's footsteps approached. As if from Risk's body would come out a big monster that would eat her. Risk was standing in front of her, still frozen with a drenched body.

“Risk, you...”

“What? Yes, I'm wet.”

“Do you want… something?”

Risk looked straight at Elisia's face, then turned around. “Nothing. Get some rest!”

Elisia caught Risk and made him stop. His head didn't even turn. Elisia could feel the anxiety and disappointment that her friend was experiencing. She joined Risk in the rain. Her clothes were wet again with her hair straight down.

“What are you doing? Come on in and dry yourself!” Risk snapped.

“I want to be wet like you. I'm not going in!”

Risk silent. Water vapor came out along with his cold breath. He turned around and looked directly at Elisia's green irises. In front of him right now, there was a princess who might pass on the power of Gwelissa. Something was making his mind random for no apparent reason.

Risk spread his cloak and rested it on Elisia. The girl hugged him. The warmth of her little girl's body spread to his body. Risk felt comfortable, even though strange thoughts keep bothering him.

“Are you feeling well, Risk?”

Risk hugged Elisia back tightly. The girl felt comfortable, like being hugged by her father. Old memories of her father resurfaced, along with the rain subsiding. Risk's hug made Elisia shed tears. Risk heard sobs, making him tighten the hug even more.

The rain had turned into a heavy drizzle. They still attached the hug to the two of them without moving an inch. Risk tried to let go of the hug, but Elisia held it as tight as she could.

“Stop the hug, Elisia! You make my stomach hot!”

Elisia immediately let go of the hug. “Sorry. Are you hurt?”

“No, just hot.” Risk holding the stomach. “I think I saddened you with my behavior. I'm getting emotional.”

“No. I'm just... worry for you.”

“Don't worry about me. I used to do that to Captain Hans, but I'm more emotional this time.” Risk took off his cloak to dry.

“Should I take the sword off me?” Elisia asked suddenly.

Risk surprised. “What do you mean?”

“I think… the sword is the problem here, especially Captain Hans' obsession with destroying The Sicilian,” Elisia replied.

Risk grabbed Elisia's shoulders and shook the girl's body. “Sicilian? Did Captain tell you that?”

Elisia nodded. Risk turned to the left with a straight look. Then he entered the house again. Elisia didn’t know what happened, but it looked like Risk want to see Captain again. The girl also entered the house and walked into the room. Her wet body made the floor slippery. Elisia took off her top clothes and dried herself.

It reminded Elisia again with a Krytadium infection in her right arm. The pebbles seemed wider than before. She touched the pebble, the pain on her skin running through in her body. Elisia immediately put on new clothes, then lied relaxed in this cold afternoon.

“Should I remove Sully's sword from me? I really like that sword. However, it was the sword that triggered Captain Hans to go further.”

Elisia opened [Telum Experto] again to look for more information about [Greatsword of Sully] again. Apparently, the sword could be removed from the psychic bond of its owner so that the sword consumed little stamina. Plus, the owner could still take the sword over at any time.

Elisia had an idea that might make things better. She took the [Greatsword of Sully] and raised it in front of her chest. The girl said the words, 'Oh Sully, let me get away from you! You've been helping me all this time. Take it easy!'. Elisia felt that the heat from the blade had dissipated. The shining lava ornament extinguished.

Elisia came out of the room to the 2nd floor. Everyone had gathered there with Risk and Captain sitting side by side. Looked like their relationship had improved, she thought. Then, Elisia walked over to the table to place Sully's sword on it. It surprised everyone to see Elisia's behavior.

“Elisia, what are you doing?” Risk asked.

Elisia faced everyone. “I just wanted to say this sword has slipped from me. So, I can't use its abilities anymore.”

Everyone shocked and approached Elisia. Captain was the first to approach Elisia and hold her arms. His expression of disbelief was clear on his face. Elisia had expected that.

“Why did you do that? Then, who will use the sword then?”

“That sword can still cling to me, but I only ask one thing for you.”

“Say it! I will fulfill all of that no matter what!” Captain pleaded.

Elisia smiled. “I just want our aim to use that weapon to destroy the barrier to the Runga region. I don't want to become a victim of the absorption of stamina by that sword. That sword almost killed me.”

Everyone looked at each other. Captain and Risk put their arm around Elisia's shoulders together with smiles on their faces. Elisia felt that all of this had resolved. She smiled sweetly, too.

“Yes. I've changed the plan to focus on destroying the barrier. You don't have to worry about that anymore. Sorry if my obsession nearly cost you. I shouldn't have done this to a princess like you,” Captain said.

“Please stop calling me princess. If that's the case, I agree and will take over the Greatsword of Sully again.” Elisia held the hilt of the legendary sword.

Everyone cheered happily. Elisia returned the situation to the way it was. Joy filled her heart. Captain and Risk hugged Elisia again like family, making Elisia reminisce about the good memories of the past. Yes, everyone felt the same way.

After a heartwarming moment in the main room, Elisia sat in the middle of Risk and Captain to listen to stories of their time as a special force in Siraca. Captain always told a funny thing about Risk to make her laugh. Risk kept quiet, listening to the chatter of his Captain who continued to insinuate him.

“Hans, I didn't think that Risk was like that back in the military. He's an interesting man,” Elisia said in response to Captain's story.

“Yes, and I'm sure he still does to this day.”

Risk turned away. “Stop it, it's embarrassing!”

“Elisia, don't you remember your memories of being a princess in Gwelissa?” Captain asked, destroying the happy mood.

Elisia looked down sadly. She still wanted to keep her dream from last night a secret from anyone. Seeing Elisia's response, Captain was also sad. Risk held Elisia's left hand to put her in a better mood. It worked.

“I think my question was wrong. Sorry,” The Captain said.

“It's okay, Hans. There are many things I can't tell you about my past. When I was in Glomouth, I remember nothing. Now, all those memories have returned. It makes me sad, but makes me realize the vastness of this cruel world.”

“Do you know? You've been missing from Gwelissa since a year ago. A lot of announcements tell people about the contest to bring the princess back to Gwelissa with huge rewards.” Risk interrupted the conversation.

“What? A year ago?!” Elisia surprised.

“Yes. Many people started looking for you. Risk may be one of them, but I think everything changed because of you,” Captain continued.

“It's been a long time since I left Gwelissa.” Elisia held her chin. “But, do you know Gwelissa's current condition?”

They both shrugged. Elisia thought that the current state of the kingdom was being occupied by irresponsible people. Elisia's desire to return home was increasing.

“I think I can answer your question, Elisia.”

Everyone turned to the stairs. Upgrade came to those who are having fun with funny stories and food. Upgrade looked straight at Elisia.

“So what's your answer?” Elisia asked.

“I hate to have to say this,” Upgrade sighed. “A tyrant who hails from Kazimriez has occupied The Kingdom of Gwelissa. I don't know who he is, but that's what I got from some agents who've approached you.”

“Kazimriez?” Elisia remembered that name. Her mother once said that her father was talking to the royal family of Kazimriez. Apparently, all the symbols she saw in her dream, one of them, was the logo of that country.

“Is there anything else you know about Gwelissa?” Elisia continued the question.

“That's all I know.”

Elisia walked to the main table to get a glass of water to launch her brain. Some of her memories were became clear, including when she was about to leave the kingdom using the magic portal which was her mother made. One rebel carrying a rifle wear an armband with a logo resembling a horse's head. Elisia revealed all things.

“Upgrade, when was the last time Kontara came to you?” Elisia asked.

Upgrade thinking. “Maybe three months ago. I don't remember.”

“Do you know where he is right now?”

“I don't know, but he has a secret laboratory on the outskirts of Lung country. Maybe he's there.” Upgrade remembered something. “Wait a minute, why are you asking that?”

Elisia just smiled and left everyone on the 3rd floor. Finally, Elisia had found the truth about her gray past. This made Elisia angry because her parents had to die just to protect her. Plus, Gwelissa's royal power was in the wrong hands.

“Gwelissa, sorry if your princess left you alone in the dominion of evil. I swear I will return your former glory to the way it used to be.”
