Rabon Fooz's POV-
I woke up again in the same dream. The world is separated by light and dark equally on both sides. The armor and the great sword in the distance, both seem to call me out. I wondered if this was my dream or something because of the book I was given today.
"Choose wisely." The voice from last time came again. Rumbling deep voice which would catch anyone's attention.
"Who are you? And why do I have to choose? " I asked the voice. It was weird that I had to choose without any explanation.
"Me? I am nothing but a fragment of memory left behind. I am the Guardian of the book of Judgement. I oversee the new owners and guide them. " The voice replied. It was mystical what was happening in front of me. But I was not as surprised as the biggest surprise of my life was when I saw a spirit manifestation.
"Before you choose I have to tell you something. Whichever side you choose will send you on a trial and after passing the trial it will belong to you. However, if you die in your trial, you will die in real life too. So choose wisely. " The voice explained.
I respected what he said but there was just one problem. Why the hell would I choose anything, I don't even know how to fight. He was talking like I wanted it badly. No, I don't even know why I'm here. Why did Garz leave this God-forsaken book for me?
"And what happens if I don't choose anything. I mean is it ok for me to just not want anything? I won't come back here I promise. " I said trying to be as convincing as I could be.
"No, the book has chosen you. Every time you sleep you will come here so it's better to choose and get it over with. " The voice sounded frustrated. All the heavenly aura was gone. It felt like an old man talking to me now.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
"So do you have any recommendations? " I asked him sheepishly.
"No, but I can tell you backstories about the weapons. They might help you in choosing what you want. " The voice replied. I nodded immediately and waited for him to start his story.
"Listen carefully then. I will start with the armor. It belongs to a lady so strong that she was able to destroy a mountain with a punch. She was a princess who was kidnapped and sold. Fortunately for her, she was trained to be a guard by the owner's daughter and got the training for it. She was blessed in combat and soon overtook her peers. Even the masters in the fighting were no match for her. She was soon noticed by the king of the country she was in and was turned into a Knight of the Royal Family. From there she fought against countless enemies and obliterated them. This armor was worn by her in all her fights. It is said that this armor can even withstand a meteor's impact. By choosing this armor you will be respecting her valor and strength of her. "The voice explained.
The story of the princess turned warrior was a good one and looking at it logically armor was the best choice for me as I wouldn't have to fight. I would just stand until the opponent gives up. It truly was a gift from heaven.
" Then it looks like I will have to choose this armor. "I said out loud to which the voice chuckled. I stopped and waited for him.
" Nobody in the thousands of years has chosen the black sword. Looks like you will also go down the same path. Good thing that nobody till now has fallen to the dark side. "He said in a triumphant tone. But it piqued my interest why nobody chose the sword. As if reading my mind the voice began talking again.
" The black sword belongs to a king. The man was born an orphan but created an empire with his blood and sweat. He was particularly not a kind king by any stretch but he was a wise one. But one day he lost his mind and went on a killing spree. His sword used to be shiny silver in color but it became black when he took the millionth life with it. He became a tyrannical ruler and fought with every kingdom. But everything had to come to an end and he was killed in the end. "
