Kiara's POV-
The next day in the school was the same as usual but a new student had been introduced to us this morning. Risa Larak also joined our class. After introducing she came straight toward me and greeted me with a hug. The whole class was astonished, the thought that we were old friends or something. She took the seat beside me. Now only two seats were empty in the class I wonder if they will be filled up as well in the upcoming days.
Risa was a social girl and talked with everyone in the class. But there was something amiss. Even though she was talking with everyone she was not giving much information about herself and I also noticed one thing yesterday. She had calluses on her hand which meant she worked out. I mean that is not a big deal considering that this school only admitted students who had a martial future. Maybe I am overthinking. She has just arrived she would not want to give too much information about herself.
"Hi I am Rabon and this is Givi. Nice to meet you." Rabon introduced himself.
"Hello, I am Bala, Kiara's brother." Bala also chimed in.
"Hi guys, I am Risa. Nice to meet you all." Risa replied.
"I would love to talk to you guys but Bala, Givi, and I are going to the library. We will meet you guys tomorrow." Rabon said as they began to leave.
" Are you not going with them?" Risa asked me.
"No, I don't like books or girls with glasses," I replied mimicking Rabon making her giggle.
"Then let's go and sit somewhere." she grabbed my hand and ran towards a bench.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
We both sat down. There was no exchange of words between us both but we knew how the other felt. We both wanted to be at peace. Looking at the clouds reminded me of the time when Bala and I used to go fishing. I used to sit at the bank of the river and Bala would be inside the river trying to catch the fish with a spear. Most of our childhood was spent doing small things considered by many people but at least we were happy. Mother died when we were ten so we had to support each other. Father was busy most of the time and would only come to meet us like four times a year. Still, it was better than him not coming anymore.
I shifted my gaze towards Risa who was also lost in the beauty of the sky. I could see she was also troubled by something. Buried deep inside her.
"Risa, why did you join this school," I asked her. She didn't reply for a good minute.
"I have to find something...precious to me. This is the place where I have to find some answers," she said still looking into the sky.
"What a coincidence....me too," I mumbled and continued looking at the sky.
"Don't worry I will help you in finding whatever you want," Risa said smiling.
"But I have anger issues you know, you might get hurt." I came clean and told her.
"Don't worry I will stop you. I have a feeling I might be able to calm you down," she replied.
We didn't say anything afterward and kept looking at the sky. The day ended when I escorted her to the scooter and she left.
I also went home. It was the same house where once father lived with Mirik. There were still the stuff of both father and Mirik to be seen in the house. I settled down in my father's room while my brother took Mirik's old room.
I lay on the bed exhausted. I hadn't practiced a bit since I arrived here as I was practicing in my sleep. Slowly my consciousness faded away until I was in an old house with an old man sitting there.
"So shall we start," he asked me to which I nodded?
I started with my spear training. It went on for three hours after which Adi gave me a suggestion on where I could improve. After this Adi taught me about spirit and how it works.
"Do you know why I chose you over Mirik?" he asked. I didn't reply.
"Because you suit to our family's aggression title than him. He has anger in him too but your talent in this far exceeds his, it even rivals mine. You are our bloodline's best chance to end this curse of our people dying." Adi said.
"Close your eyes...and focus everything into emotions...emotions of anger."
