Chapter 093 Determination (1)

I had never felt so many indescribable emotions, and I had never imagined just one person could make me feel so many things. Claire made me feel like a human being, and now she made me feel loved. But I still didn’t think that I deserve so much happiness, so I had decided to do the things to make me deserve it. It would take a while, but I still could do it.

After Claire stopped crying, she kissed me… how I missed that sensation. Her soft lips, her sweet fragrance. It was hard to control myself, knowing that she had accepted me, but I couldn’t rush things. We already skipped too many steps. Besides, an audience had been watching us for a while. So, I pointed at the door, and Claire saw the kids looking at us. Thanks to it, she felt a bit embarrassed.

But the kids didn’t look interested in what we were doing, they were just looking at me, and they looked angry.

“I guess I owe some explanations to a few persons…”

“That’s right,” Claire nodded.

I approached the kids, and when I was in front of them, they ignored me, and they looked at other directions.

“So, you guys are angry too, huh. I will give a bottle of lemonade for those who decide to forgive me.”

Only that wasn’t enough; they didn’t show any interest. I guess that wasn’t enough after disappearing for six months. I had to give them a single but big motive for them to forget about the last few months.

“All right, those who decide to forgive me, I will let them fly on Stella’s back every day for one hour.”

In the next instant, the kids were asking me to do that right now. Frank was so eager to fly on her back that he climbed on my shoulders. That had been too easy… kids are creatures who can easily forget grudges. Since it couldn’t be helped, I teleported them to where Stella was.

“Is that really fine?’ Claire asked, worried.

“Yeah, I created these chairs before, so they will be safe.”

From my backpack, I took out a few chairs. Those chairs had seatbelts, and they could stick on anything by consuming a small amount of mana. Most of the survivors that I met in the last six months weren’t strong enough to hold themselves on Stella’s feathers, so those chairs did the job.

After ten minutes, the kids were flying on Stella’s back safely around the city. For now, there were any monsters nearby which could defeat Stella in the air, but just for now.

“I have to report a few things to Harry, do you want to come with me?”

“Sure, but let’s just walk,” Claire said, showing a big smile, and then she held my right hand tightly.

“… I guess it’s fine.”

The dragons wouldn’t attack today or tomorrow, so I decided it was fine to enjoy every moment possible. I didn’t have to rush, so we just walked leisurely to Harry’s office.

“Ethan, you must know a few things about me,” Claire showed a severe expression. “I’m a very jealous woman, and I’m not lenient like Rose and Sarah. If I see you looking at another woman…”

“I don’t think I’m that popular… so those three finally decided to assume their crazy relationship, huh.”

“Yes, in any case, after all these months waiting for you, I deserve to be compensated,” Claire pouted.” Do you have how many nights I didn’t sleep because I was thinking about you? You will have to do everything I wish until I feel satisfied.”

“I don’t mind doing that, but… I feel that I’m always doing whatever everyone wants.”

“Even if that is the case, I’m not going to be unreasonable,” Claire said. “I just want to hear everything you think and feel, so don’t hide anything anymore, ok?”

“Thank you for your leniency… I will try not to keep too many secrets; from now on, I will try to be an open book.”

After ten minutes, we arrived on the floor. Harry was working, and then I stopped when I heard his shout.

“I’m going to find that asshole and bring him here even if I have to use brute force!” Harry shouted furiously.

“It seems someone has been caused problems for Harry. Maybe I should help him to find that asshole.”

“I’m pretty sure he is talking about you.” Claire showed an awkward smile.

“He is pretty ungrateful, huh. I gave him more than one hundred minions, and he calls me an asshole…”

“Don’t call them minions,” Claire showed a serious expression. “Everyone inside the walls are our allies.”

“It will take a while for me to reach that level of trust in every single person around here…”

We reached Harry’s office, but when I tried to open the door, someone inside the office opened and then I saw Harry’s angry expression. He looked at Claire and me and looked confused for a moment, but soon he got rid of his surprise.

“Ethan!” Harry shouted.

Surprisingly, Harry tried to punch me, but I teleported Claire and me to inside the room, and he only managed to punch the wall behind me. It wasn’t nearly enough to kill me, but the floor trembled.

“Hello to you too. It seemed that you are a bit stressed for some reason… if you want to spar with me, let’s do it after we talk.”

“For some reason?” Harry asked, angrily. “You are the reason that I’m stressed, you asshole!”

“Look who has returned,” Rose said with her arms crossed. “It seemed the soft-hearted Claire already forgave you, but things won’t be so easy with us.”

“Don’t try to defend him, Claire,” Sarah looked coldly at me. “He deserves to hear a very long lecture…”

“So much for a warm welcome, huh. I guess I will hear your complaints for the time being, but try to be quick; I have important matters that I have to attend to.”

“You have got a lot of nerve…” Harry sighed as he tried to calm down. “Where have you been for the past months? What the hell are these reports? How could you abandon Claire like that?”

“Observing dragons, I’m not good with words, and she already forgave me. Any more questions?”

Obviously, my calm reaction and words pissed them. But my first answer picked their interest; even Claire was almost crushing my hand because of the surprise. She looked at me as if I hid that information from her. But she didn’t ask anything…

“Dragons, you say… “Harry calmed down and began to analyze my words. “Why are you scratching your arm?

“It became a habit, I killed a few alone, but one of them destroyed my right arm and right leg. Since then, my right arm always feels itchy when I think about them.”

“You fought against them alone?” Claire asked while she was crushing my hand. “Have you lost your mind?”

“You can kill one alone, too; you just need some mobility. Anyway, those dragons were flying around a dungeon, and I got curious. So, I didn’t have another choice but to kill and investigate the dungeon. The other guys found dungeons, right? Is there some dungeon nearby?”

“Yes, they found a few,” Harry frowned. “And there is one fifty kilometers away from here.”

“Good, I intend to go there soon.”

“You are not going alone; I’m going too,” Claire declared.

“Okay, I don’t think I’m in the position of stopping you from doing so… after I defeated those dragons, I entered the dungeon, and I saw hundreds of dragons there, ready to leave the dungeon. I estimate that in a few weeks, hundreds of dragons will leave the dungeon and attack this country, maybe thousands. I didn’t have time to count them. I only stayed in the dungeon for a few seconds.”

Thanks to my words, Harry, Rose, and Sarah forgot about their anger and began to think about what to do. But soon they recovered from the surprise. Besides, they couldn’t decide everything; they had to discuss it with the other three representatives.

“Rose, you pass this information to the other three,” Harry said. “Sarah, tell to our allies to increase the amount of time they use to hunt, they will need to get stronger to survive those dragons.”

Rose picked up their magic cellphone and scheduled a meeting with the other leaders inside the walls, and Sarah left the room to tell everyone who was in the building that information.

“This will be enough for now,” Harry sighed. “Back to the topic, care to explain the content of those notes?”

Harry pointed at the reports that I wrote, for some creepy reason, he kept all those notes.

“Isn’t it self-explanatory? I carefully summarized my actions in those notes.”

“You summarized too much!” Harry growled. “Basically, all your reports had the same sentences, and you never said where you were. I found no survivors this week, I killed a few survivors, and I brought a few survivors. You only wrote this and about the trolls. If it weren’t for Martin and the others, we wouldn’t even know that you killed the troll king and found a dungeon of harpies!”

“Like I said, I’m not good with words. Just get rid of those notes, why are you keeping the reports of another man? You are creeping me out. I figured out Martin and Angela would explain those events.”

“You… you disappear for six months and then reappear with a quick tongue, huh.” Harry frowned.

“I would rather ignore your complaints, but Claire said that I have to tell her everything that I think. That’s why I’m not ignoring you.”

“Well, well.” Harry smiled, showing a condescending expression. “It seems the lone wolf Ethan became a docile guy; love really does change people, huh.”

“I totally agree; it seems your nights full of love are being too stressful for you; no wonder you are so grumpy. Is it because they don’t let you use your copies to sleep with both of them at the same time? Or is it because you are too scared to ask?”

“What?” Harry said, surprised. “How did you…”

“Ethan!” Claire blushed. “Why are you saying this kind of thing?”

“Because you said that you wanted to hear what I always think.”

Claire seemed like she was regretting that decision, and Rose stepped on Harry’s foot. As I thought, Harry learned that skill with that in mind, but he was too scared to ask, even the two sisters stay in different rooms. Anyway, Harry was too stressed, even with Rose’s and Sarah’s help, it was too much work to represent so many survivors. They didn’t neglect her training, but they spent too much time solving everyone’s problems.

“Anyway, we are done here, right? We have some important things to do, but I guess we have to wait for Sarah.”

“What are those important things?” Claire asked, confused.

“Do you intend to give birth in your room? We need to create a hospital and put some equipment inside of it.”

“That’s true,” Rose put down the magic cellphone. “Claire is strong, and she can handle this, but your children will need medical attention. Until now, we kept ignoring this kind of situation because of the existence of potions and magic, but we do need a hospital that can help pregnant women. We need to repopulate the earth, after all.”

“I agree,” Harry nodded. “We have to create many types of equipment, which reminds me, I still didn’t pay Ethan for his work. I owe you one million and five hundred thousand evolution coins, thank god Rose and Sarah kept an eye on me, or I would have spent this sum a long time ago. I guess I will go with you, the meeting will only begin in a few hours, and I need a change of pace… this job is too stressful.”

I intended to punch him for not paying me sooner, but I guess I caused some problems to him as well. So, I decided to forget about it.

“That will help a lot, I intend to do a few other things, and I don’t know if I have enough coins. I also had to meet Silver and get the coins he obtained for me.”

“What exactly are you planning to do?” Claire asked frowning.

“I will upgrade my new weapon.”

“Ah, Martin told us about your mechanic arms.” Claire frowned. “Attack from a distance isn’t fun to you anymore, huh. What else?”

“I only created those because I was growing too dependent on mana. And I guess I will also use the statue to become a vampire.”
