After Ann’s shout, the rain of fire stopped, but soon after that, I felt a terrible cold. I didn’t see a single cloud in the sky, but a small tornado and a lot of snow appeared around me, and the freezing wind began to numb my body and slowly eat my flesh. It was the skill frostbite. I was suffering damage so I couldn’t activate the cape, but I could run like hell and so I did.
Luckily, the effective range of that skill was quite small, but that was expected, after all, she didn’t use much that skill. When I was one hundred meters away from her, the small ice tornado disappeared, but I wasn’t relieved. My body was trembling, and my fingers were numb again. If that wasn’t enough, I could hear the guards’ footsteps, and the rain of fire returned.
‘Shit…’
Before I could do anything, I saw many red dots leaving the hotel and heading toward my direction. She called reinforcements, and I even could see her coming toward me, but she wasn’t in a hurry. Karl was also alongside her, and he was showing an expression like he was ready to fight. That stupid guy would do anything for a woman who didn’t love him… ridiculous.
‘Great, just my luck…’
I was heavily outnumbered, but none of them were as fast as me, so I still could run and attack from a distance. I also had a few bottles of lemonade, and as long as I can find a safe place, I could meditate and recover even more MP. I could keep fighting the entire night, at least I thought I could. Ann’s rain of fire attracted the nearby monsters.

‘This is just getting better and better…’
But while facing two different enemies was dangerous, I could use one of them to my advantage. But first, I had something to do.
“Those who aren’t being controlled by that crazy bitch get out of here, if you try to attack me I won’t show any mercy. This will be your only chance to leave, but if you help me, I will guide you to a survivor’s camp where you won’t be treated like crap.”
A few of the survivors stopped; it seemed not all of them were being controlled and didn’t like that place or the crazy bitch’s attitude. But not a single one of them tried to leave or tried to attack Ann’s guards. They didn't dare to defy Ann, and they didn’t want to put in risk their safety by allying with a single survivor against so many. It was reasonable, but it was also a pity.
‘Too bad, I tried at least…’
I activated the cape’s effect and looked for vast concentrations of monsters, and I found some beehives nearby. I exploded all of them, but to my surprise, every time I attacked one of those beehives, Ann’s troops would march in my direction.
‘Karl returned to the hotel to see me on the map and give my localization to her…’
But that only made things easier for me; I didn’t have to lure the monsters toward Ann’s army, they came by themselves and began to be attacked by the mutant bees. I heard screams and voices in agony, and I felt shivers… to survive, I condemned hundreds of survivors. To survive, they decided to kill a single person, while I decided to kill hundreds of them. I knew it, from that point onward, there was no going back.
While they were busy with the bees, I killed another two guards. Ann saw her guards falling and looked at me like she was a mad hungry dog. Before she could attack me, I disappeared and ran away from that place and recovered myself a little. That frostbite skill could make me unable to attack, so, I had to avoid it at all costs.
Thanks to the battle and Ann’s fire rain, monsters appeared one after another. Because of it, many of Ann’s minions died, and that gave me the chance to catch my breath and recover a little. She hated me, but even if she knew my localization thanks to Karl, she didn’t want to lose any more of her guards. So, she decided to use the others under her control to attack. One hundred red dots disappeared, but another two hundred left the hotel. Thanks to it, all the monsters had been slain after five minutes, other monsters appeared, but their numbers couldn’t do much against six hundred survivors. Her guards regrouped, and she made them form a circle around her, I wouldn’t be able to kill them easily anymore.

‘Tsk, I need something bigger to distract them.’
My best chance was to use the evolved monsters against her troops, while those monsters weren’t that hard to find, they weren’t easy to find either. Besides, Ann could kill them very quickly; all she had to was concentrate her fire rain on a single spot for a few seconds. However, would she go that far to help the common survivors under her control? I didn’t think so; she would only use her powers to save her guards. It was an empty love, but it was a kind of nonetheless. In any case, the evolved monsters would buy me a few seconds to diminish their numbers.
However, to find those evolved monsters, I had to survive the fire rain and that mob coming toward me. My supply of lemonade was running low, so, I decided to attack and run without using the invisibility against them. I would only activate the cape against Ann and her bodyguards. I deactivated the cape’s effect, left the pet shop where I was hiding and began to attack that mob.

…
The rain of fire stopped and reappeared right above me, not only that, arrows, lances, and many other magic projectiles began to be thrown toward me. Stupid puppets, Ann didn’t order them to bring their firearms, so they didn’t bring. Again, I ran away from them, using all my strength. Unfortunately, my stamina was lacking. So, I had to stop every five minutes to rest. But that was more than enough, none of them were as fast as me, and the monsters were appearing quite frequently.
After two hours of running, killing, and trying to calm my nerves while resting, I was exhausted mentally and physically. The monsters killed a lot of her soldiers, but I alone killed more than them. Ann only had three hundred soldiers left, but she didn’t hesitate even a single time. She kept moving toward my direction, did I really pissed her that much? Or was because the skill failed on me and that damaged her pride? Either way, I couldn’t care less.
I was about to give up; why did I have to fight? Indeed, I really thought that my life was more important than any of them, perhaps even more important than all their lives, and that was why I fought. But, every time I received those messages, I felt a shiver, and I also received some mental damage. I killed an innocent person, because of me, that person wouldn’t be able to feel anything anymore. The dead survivors wouldn’t laugh or cry anymore; they wouldn’t dream or reunite with their families anymore. With a single bolt on their heads or hearts, I took everything from them. I destroyed their future, and I did that more than two hundred times. I could search on the entire city, or perhaps on the whole planet and I wouldn’t be able to find a monster who killed so many people… I was worse than a monster.
When I acknowledged that, something inside me changed, but I didn’t notice what precisely because someone was making a lot of noise. Without a care in the world, I left the drug store where I was hiding and headed toward the streets. While I was walking, I saw many red dots disappearing on the radar, and I soon discovered what was doing that.

In the middle of the night, the two colossal monsters were causing a pandemonium. The eagle was ten meters tall, and the alligator seemed to be fifteen meters long. Survivors were being toasted alive by the dozens of lightning bolts coming from the eagle’s mouth. The other survivors were being torn apart by dozens of two-meters long ice spears created by the alligator. That attack was also coming from its mouth, but I couldn’t care less about such monsters.
“Oh boy, this is exactly what I needed.”
The survivors who weren’t under Ann’s control fled from that place to all directions, not a single one of them tried to return to the hotel. After all, Ann would probably kill them if she survives that battle. Although she was just a human, she was on par with the monsters in terms of status and her skills were far superior to the beasts. However, she didn’t have their tough skin, and she wasn’t ferocious like those apex predators. So, she couldn’t kill them that fast.
Aside from her eight remaining bodyguards, Ann had one hundred and fifty survivors under her control, and she used them to buy some time while she attacked both monsters. The alligator didn’t have ice scales like the snake I previously fought against, but it was evident the creature had some resistance against ice attacks. So, Ann decided to focus her fire rain on that monster.
The eagle was even more troublesome; it could fly in all directions at high speed while electrocuting the survivors with pinpoint precision. The survivors, under her control, tried to kill it, but they were too weak. On the other, Ann’s frostbite was causing a lot of damage while freezing the creature’s feathers. In a minute or two, the eagle would fall and die.
Ann was that powerful, she could kill those two colossal creatures by herself, and she didn’t even need to use her most powerful skill. It was indeed a pity that she had to die, if she were just a little bit less crazy, all the survivors would, without a doubt, follow her. At first, I thought only a perfect leader could guide us to our survival and the eventual reconstruction of the world. But with her powers, she could do that, even if she had a few flaws. Thanks to her skills, no one would go against her. As long as her final objective were survival, everything else could be tolerated. But unfortunately, she decided to live a life full of debauchery. Just like I wasn’t fit to be a leader because I put my life above her minions, she wasn’t fit to become a leader because she would put herself over the human race survival. Both of us were trash.
To make matters worse, she sacrificed her troops trying to kill me. Ann didn’t hesitate a single time; she was beyond redemption. Probably, a few survivors in our camp had lost friends and family because of her, and no one of them will ever forget that.
With all that said, I didn’t have a single reason to let her live. I didn’t even care about Karl’s situation anymore, she would die, and if he tries to protect her, he will die too. As a cleaner, it was my job to get rid of any potential troublemakers. And because of his feelings for Ann, in the future, he could become a threat even bigger than her.
I sat on the ground to meditate and recover my MP. Meanwhile, I decided my next actions watchin Ann and her troops being destroyed by the monsters.
