Ch. 42: Cursed Child

Ch. 42: Cursed Child

"What...?" Qiang turns with a strange look on his face.

"It is as you heard, do not make me repeat myself."

"You fool! What are you saying?!"

"My family made a pact with a curse demon, their first-born child will be cursed."

"That makes no sense! What is your curse?"

"I... I don't know... Once i turned six years old, i had my first rampage of fury, i overheard my father's words when he was saying that he will abandon me, i was overcome with rage and the rest i don't remember... All i can see in my mind's eye, is a haunting memory of walking away from the burning village... With blood on my hands..."

"That doesn't make sense... Why would you ever do something like that to us? I know you, Johan. You would never do such a thing!"

"I know myself better than anyone, how could you claim to know me when you met me only a few days ago? The truth is, i'm the embodiment of chaos, that is all i am and all i ever will be."

"Why do you say... Things like that?"

"I made a promise, to my sister. A girl that lived in the woods alone in a shed with her father took me in, she treated me like a brother, its the happiest i've ever been... Until soldiers came looking for me when i was out gathering herbs in the woods, they searched the house and when they were told i wasn't there they killed everybody in the house and burned it. In her dying moments, my sister made me promise to live a life of no regret, to help people... And so i travel."

"That doesn't make sense! It wasn't your fault!"

"Not my fault? Everywhere i went, chaos followed, while i was walking through a forest a wildfire was caused due to thunder almost striking me, it ended up killing thirty residents of a nearby village and those are only some examples, please... I don't want the same to happen to the three of you..." Tears fill Johan's eyes as he lifts his head to look at Qiang.

Johan quickly looks away after Qiang glances at his tearful face, "i will continue this conversation no longer, your ignorance disgusts me." Johan says while walking away down the hallway.

In the hallway he walks by Helena who is in more casual clothes, upon seeing him she looks desturbed by his resentful and angry expression, and stops beside him, quickly looking at Qiang worriedly.

"What happened? Is Johan alright?" She asks, sounding concerned.

"Johan will leave once we revive his friend." Qiang says with a strong, stern sounding voice.

"But... Why?"

"You can ask about him later, we will leave tommorrow morning."

"But.."

"I will hear no objection." He says coldly and walks back to his room, leaving Helena standing in the hallway with sadness and confusion.

Her hand curls up into a fist and she creates a rope of water and catches both of them and brings them towards each other while tying them up with it.

"You two will come to my room, i will not have you two dampening the mood, understood?" She drags them on the floor with a furious expression.

They get to her room and she throws them on the floor, "now, the both of you will tell me exactly what happened or else i throw you out this window!" She points to the window of her room.

"You're bluffing!" Johan says, sounding just as angry at her, more so at the fact she tied him up.

"I'm the former Principle Of Resentment, i would not test it if i were you." Qiang sighs before trying to break the water rope.

"I wouldn't do that either if i were you, that rope is made of the same water i use for fighting, its very durable and could cut you in half if you struggle too much." She speaks with a warm smile.

"Want do you want? Want us to kiss and hug each other while apologizing?" Johan stares angrily.

"No, you said you have some questions for me? I would also like to heal... Um... Your arm? What's your name again?"

"Qiang Jin, the greatest swordsman of the Jin Clan!" He boasts.

"Well... Alright..." She turns to Johan, "what do you want to ask? I'd be happy to answer anything, whatever it may be." She smiles.

"Why? You want to answer my questions? We barely know each other! And why are you the Principle of Resentment? Your personality is exactly the opposite of that."

"For starters... I want to answer your questions because sharing information is crucial, i happen to know a lot about a common enemy that we will have to be fighting a lot from now on, the second question is... More complicated..." She sighs.

She takes a deep breath and calms herself down before continuing to speak: "I was Principle rank ten, or "decem principium", technically, the eleventh Principle, since i was the eleventh Principle i was meant to be a sacrifice, just an extra Principle to be used and discarded. The organization is called the "Ten Principles of Peace" after all. Lucifer is Principle zero and all other Principles are to be ranked in order from one to nine by strength and importance."

"What about the other Principles? Which one is the strongest?!" Asks Qiang.

"The strongest is undeniably Baal, the Principle of Enlightement. I personally never saw his abilities but from what i know he is rank two within the Principles. But Azazel, the Principle Of Order and Bedeviled, the Principles of Harmony are nothing to scoff at."

"You seen to remember their name despite forgeting mine. Why is that?"

"How could i forget? They are the ones that made me suffer within the organization."

"What did they do?"

"I... I don't want to talk about it..." She hides her sad face behind her hands, clearly effected by her suffering.

She had faced much pain, torture and bullying, both mental and phisical. She had fled the Khapesh Palace when she overheard Lucifer talking about her sacrifice and suicide mission, upon fleeing the palace she rushed home with tears in her eyes only to see her whole family killed, she already knew who did that but couldn't do anything about it. She spent most of her time on the run to escape the Principles who were persuing her and had lived on the streets or in run down and abandonned huts she found in the forest. Through the suffering she still kept a happy and cheerful smile.
