Ch. 18: life in poverty

Aisha's POV

I have always faced strugle, weather it was by my parents or others in my life, all who have seen me feared my face, and all those that heard about me feared my name.

I was born a traitor and lived like one but i couldn't have done anything about it, i was not allowed to enter school because the teacher refused to acknowledge my existence and my parents refused to pay for it.

But why? Why was i shunned away from and by everyone? Simple, i was bad luck, a weird birthmark that looked like strange dots and a cross going through from my forearm to the back of my hand.

A Vangard.

It was a symbol of power for centuries but was later found a symbol of hatred due to a person which went on a murderous rampage around and killing everybody and everything. The whole village got nearly destroyed but a warrior fought him and died himself.

As both of them perished, the village rejoiced but since my birth they began to grieve in pain. Although a symbol of power it was also a gateway for evil due to the fact that none could stop a marked individual and after the rampage of the previous mark user i was viewed as a murderer from birth as the whole village tried to supress my potential because of fear.

But even through all of that i still tried to teach myself spellcasting and became a strong spellcaster but after my mother saw me cast a Flatus. She attacked me with a wooden stick till i bled from all parts of my body, it was so severe i had to be healed but nobody wanted to heal me because of my mark.

In the end, i barely escaped with my life. Heavily injured and beaten, and with the townsfolk preparing for my execution, i was no longer welcome in the village. So i flead to the forests and lived off of various fruit i could find.

The injuries were healed, leaving grusome scars behind. Starvation and dehydration made my existance hell, and it didn't help that scouts of the village were always sent to find me. The only thing that kept me alive was the mark, but even it couldn't help me survive fully, just kept my energy levels high enough so i could move.

Eventually, i lost. I couldn't move anymore so i crawled to an abandoned building and waited to die.

The scouts found me in my deteriorated, dirty, beat up state and took me to the village where i was to be publically executed.

It was the first time people looked me dirrectly in the face. I can't lie, it made me somewhat happy. In the crowd showed up a person which i have never seen before, she was wearing a thick coat which covered her whole body, the only thing i could see was her smile.

As i was being put on the stands she snatched me from the clutches of the executioners and stabbed them both in the neck, the crowd began to panic as their bodies hit the wood planks.

I then saw a few soldiers march through the gate of the village, holding spears pointed at the sky. As the wind blows, their uniforms flutter in the yellow mid-day sun.

"By the order of lord Levitus, we come to retrieve the marked one." one of them says as they all march forward.

"follow me," Levitus tells me, "we will lead you to a better life."

***

After a week of traveling we got to the khapesh palace, it was a sight to behold. A beautiful palace walls shined brightly under the sunlight.

I have never seen anything of such magnitude before and i honestly wished i could have escaped the village by myself. We passed across a bridge to get to the palace, the closer we got to it, the more it shined.

The doors opened and we passed through them quickly, as if we were in a hurry. It was here when i finally saw the beauty of Levitus, her face was as amazing as the moonlight and her body was dignified and had a truly majestic aura surrounding her.

***

We met with the Grandmaster shortly after and he gave me home to turn to, he gave me food to eat and water to nurish my body. He gave me life, and only asked for loyalty in return.

I served under Levitus for years and her brilliant image only got clearer in my head as i continued to work for her. Even as others beat me and bullied me, Levitus looked at me with a smile and comforted me my whole life.

And i finally realised it! I'm in love with Levitus! I couldn't get her out of my mind, i was truly obsessed with her and looked up to her infinitely! I got better and bettered my swordsmanship, i took on the most difficult missions and even came home with deep cuts and broken bones but i still continued just so i could rise up the ranks and get closer to Levitus.

The others found out and the bullying only got worse, but i didn't care, i merely continued with my plan. Life got bad, i'd get shoved into the garbage disposal and some pushed me of the bridge with the hope i would drown.

But i just ignored them because i had Levitus here, ready to comfort me through anything. Until that fateful day... when she was taken from me by the Grandmaster and his accomplice.

They killed her but i knew who was truly responsible for doing that.

EZRA!

From then, i hunted Ezra, until i die! He has to pay for his insolence no matter what, Ezra took my world away from me. Destroyed all i ever knew and i will see to it that i see his cold body on the ground.

I swear to it... I will take his heart away from him, like he took mine away from me!
