Ch. 25: The wiermrest river

They open the gate using the key and two guards rush at Johan but he blocks their spears with a red force and throws them away while using the same force to push them into trees, knocking them unconscious.

"How long are you going to lay on the ground, Ezra?" Johan asks growing impatient, "you look hurt, what is going on with that?"

Johan check with inner sight and sees Ezra's soul is injured, he advises him to stay put and walk slowly as his soul could leak and create a not-so-pretty sight, in his words.

"Is that so?" Ezra says, "i realise it was a mistake to challenge a Grandmaster."

"Yeah, no shit, follow me before more guards come." Ezra follows and they embark on a mutual journey to save each others' lives.

"Where are we going?" Ezra asks with a weak voice.

"Wiermrest river, it stretches to the Seelvian sea. Its speculated that a dragon was killed there by the founder of the khapesh clan, although thats just a meaningless legend."

"Why do we need to go there?" Ezra asks again.

"To leave for Seelvia obviously. Desertia had been getting on my nerves lately, too."

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"I don't think i understand, Johan. Do you really think the Grandmaster would not send a principle to intercept us?" asks worrisome Ezra.

"I understand you're injured, child. But i am not unprepared."

'Who the hell is he calling a child?' Thinks Ezra in relation to Johan's comment

"Either way, we can leave the nation, therefore, escaping the Grandmaster who is clearly trying to kill us. We can just run from the principles if it's that much of an issue." Johan says, walking towards the, now setting, sun.

"I can tell you're not a fool, child, but you do not need to concern yourself with grownup matters."

'He is looking down on me for being younger!' Ezra, now annoyed, wants to says something against him but quickly catches himself.

"We're here, the river where the wyrm rests." Johan states wistfully.

"You sounded sad, why?" Ezra asks getting saddened by the mood as well.

"It was the last dragon ever killed, bringing the extiction of dragons altogether," Johan looks down at the floor, "But there is nothing we can do about it now..."

He looks to his left and begins moving, gesturing to Ezra to follow him.

Ezra looks around in confusion, still holding his chest as if his hand is stuck to it. He finally lets go of his chest and his arm flows on behind him as he runs to catch up to Johan.

"Why are you so down all of a sudden? Its just a random dragon that died over five hundred years ago, get over it."

"The only being capable of wielding manna apart from humans, the perfect creation of god."

"They clearly weren't so perfect if they're extinct." Ezra shrugs.

Then, in a moment, Johan stops and looks in fear as a noise can be heard and an explosion can be seen.

"There you are...!" Two voices speak.
