Ch. 29: follow the river

"Lets go Ezra, we don't have many supplies. All we can hope for is that the river is short and that we will pass it without issue." Johan says, looking in the direction of the rivers flow.

He points forward with his pointing finger and speaks again: "That way is the port of desertia, it should lead us to seelvia as long as we can steal a boat for ourselves."

"Yeah, too much talk, the reinforcements would have come already." Ezra walks away, following the river, Johan gives him a strange glare of approval while standing behind and shortly after begins walking closely by his right shoulder.

After reaching 1/4 of the river they take a small break, the time by now had reached two in the morning and they had not intended the river to be this large, they were tired and hungry, deciding to eat and rest was a priority at the moment.

They will continue walking at the sight of the first morning light.

As dawn broke and their eyes opened to the rays of light that shined through the high branches of the trees where they slept, they saw a puddle of blood and more paches of blood seemingly goint into the river.

They went forward to check on it but saw nothing, likely pointing to the fact something jumped into the river.

Johan tells Ezra to pick up the supplies and catch up to him after he does so and Johan starts following the river again, they both meet up later and share a bit of food as they walk.

They have reached the half way part of the river, both are tired and sweating profusely after hours of walking without end, along with their supplies running dry.

Ezra instantly stops in the middle of walking and takes a quick whiff of the air around him, he smells blood and another smell as well, after a second of thinking he realised that its the same as Tahir's teleportation magic.

He dashes away, pulling Johan by the collar and dragging him into thick bushes behind multiple trees.

An explosion of manna occurs, Azazel and Baal apear standing on the water as the manna around them falls and accumulates in the river like dust.

"Baal, use your sight to search the area and find Asmodius." Azazel speaks in a rough, commanding tone.

Azazel stands a little over 6'3 inches with a powerful and intimidating stature that puts all the greatest commanders to shame, every word he speaks shakes fear into every single part of your body.

He wears a kimono from a different nation and a sword closely resembling a katana, he has earings in the shape of black feathery wings, a wing on each ear with a light red and black coloration of the earings' cores.

"Sure, i can't wait to humiliate him!" Baal proclaims.

The joyous Baal lifts his head up into the sky with open arms, basking in the setting sun.

"Just do it already!"

"Fine, fine... So bothersome..." Baal scouts the sorroundings with the ability while opening an eye on the back of his hand.

Through the eye he sees a presence light up bellow a bridge.

"Run, Johan..." Ezra whispers and they both take off running through the forest, still following the river.

"Hello Asmodius! What a lowly thing you are to be reduced to nothing but a head." Baal chuckles to himself.

"I'll kill you for that! Eat shit!"

"Oh, only if you could..."

Ezra and Johan run through the forest making shushing sounds as they run through the dense bushes, their fatique seems to not effect them as much, they have covered almost the complete lenght of the river after running for a mere half an hour.

The river itself seems to end abruptly at a waterfall that decends down into a valley and then spreads into the port city of Argus.

They stop, looking down they breathe a sigh of relief at the fact they had finally reached the long awaited destination.

"Hello, Ezra." Ezra looks back to see Azazel with his sword half unsheathed.

"Do not worry, i will end you swiftly."
