Ch. 4: the principle of emotion

The gift of emotion, given only to the lucky ones, the ones considered "human". I wish i had such a gift... If only...

These are the thoughts going through Levitus' mind as she lives her day to day life, and even as she is walking to the meeting table, such thoughts flood her mind like a thousand bees an intruder hornet, each sting sinking her ever deeper in the sea of sadness.

She walks to the door and opens it, in the room a strangely-shaped glowing table in its center, with 8 chairs around the table all but one already preocupied.

"what is this?" Levitus asks, looking puzzled

"that is the new technology of our dear grandmaster, we are oh, so lucky to be blessed by his genius intellect".

Levitus sighs, and continues walking to the table in the center of the room and sits on one of the chairs.

"what is our next course of action lord Levitus?" one of the lieutenants asks, the other soldiers nodding their heads in accordance.

"there is much to discuss, though i believe the orders given to me are to be done, i don't necessarily consider Ezra an immediate threat, and neither does the grandmaster. I will hunt down Ezra when i feel like it, it's not like he can escape me anyway." says Levitus.

Much time passes while the soldiers discuss ideas, but after the conversation dies down a bit Levitus starts shifting her gaze to a subordinate sitting next to her.

"i'm surprised you're so quiet Aisha, shouldn't you have the most to say? After all, i heard you got back from a mission recently."

"i... Um, i-i-i wanted to say that... Ahh..." aisha stutters, not knowing what to say, she tries to collect her thoughts "it would be best if you came with me lord Levitus, i couldn't explain it even if i wanted to."

"hmm?" Levitus looks at her with a confused look on her face "i'll investigate it with you tommorrow, if you so wish aisha. Does anybody have any more meaningful information to share?" Levitus asks, and everybody looks at each other, wispering.

"no, lord Levitus."

"good, meeting adjurned, we shall leave now and act on the orders discussed." as she says that everybody starts leaving the room, including Aisha, although she seems to be in a hurry. Levitus sees this and walks faster behind Aisha, but while she is walking she gets stopped by a principle.

"Lord Levitus, i overheard your conversation with your subordinates, and i do have a piece of advise for you: DO NOT DISREGARD ORDERS, OR I WILL KILL YOU." the principle warns her in a demonic voice. But she still looks at him, completely unfased by his words, emotionless in her gaze.

"don't try me" Levitus says as she walks past him.

Meanwhile

Ezra had begun his training a few days previously, for a person his age he was taking it quite well, progressing faster than many desciples older than him. However, that lead him to become overconfident and somewhat cocky, thinking of himself as stronger than he is in reality.

But he has grown tired, sweating profusly and shaking uncontrolably, looking as if he is gonna drop his sword.

"manna is a strong weapon Ezra, and i have trained you phisically for quite a while, but i think it is time for you to realise what manna can truly do!"

"Flatus!" the doctor yells and her palm starts to glow red, and blast of red light shoots at Ezra, he barely dodges it and when he looks behind him he sees a tree with a giant hole going through it.

"what was that?" he asks

"you have just witnessed the true extent of manna"...
