Chapter 7: Tenebris and Aurora

“*ugh* M-my head.”

As she blinked her eyes open and sat up, she found herself in a small room lit by dull blue light.

“Well dear, that was to be expected, you did overdraft your energy after all. Also, you’ve been sleeping for about a month, Argentum got a beautiful sword by the way, so she’ll be training under my brothers’ tutelage.”

“A-a month?!”

“Yes, your body needed time to repair itself. I mean, you destroyed your right arm, seriously damaged most of your meridians, though that’s mostly Azathoths fault, so that you managed to recover in only a month is actually a miracle, and the only thing you have to show for it is a heavily scared arm and a headache so…”

She inspected herself and recoiled slightly at the sight of her arm, but apart from that she looked fine, though she didn’t strip to check everywhere. She also noticed that her Wings seemed to have turned into some kind of trench coat while she was unconscious and discovered that she could switch between the two forms at will.

“Wait so, everything is f-fine?”

“Yes, everything is fine, now come, Il has been restless, wanting to know what he used over half of his stock on, and Argentum has barely slept, she’s been so worried about you.”

“O-ok…”

Achelois pulled her out of the room, down a flight of stairs and out through the smithy and into some kind of training field, where Argentum was practicing some sword fighting basics under Ilmarinen’s scrutinizing gaze, In the middle of the field some kind of protective field had been set up around her cast.

“Ah, you’re finally awake. Come on let’s find out what your weapon is little lady.”

Ilmarinen grabbed her and dragged her to the cast and instructed her on how to open it and bond the weapon that would emerge, before appearing back at Achelois side. She did as instructed and as she pushed her energy into the cast it separated into three parts, two of which turned into energy and that flowed into the beautiful twin guns that were resting on the last part which was slowly being absorbed by them.

“Amazing…”

“Well, I’ll be… Never in bloody existence has anything like this happened before! Ever!”

Phoenix was staring at the guns, one was white with silver runes that looked like her eye, its hilt looked like it was made of ivory. The other gun was black with dark purple runes inlayed into the metal with a hilt that seemed to be made of ebony.

“Hurry up girl, bond with the bloody things, quickly!”

Startled out of her thoughts, she snatched them up as the last of the energy holding them up was absorbed into the weapons, instinctively bonding with them, causing the white one, which was in her right hand, to glow a pale turquois and the black one to glow an ominous reddish-purple. Suddenly she was hug-tackled, causing her to drop the guns, which promptly reappeared, strapped to her thighs, and was pinned to the ground by a serious looking Argentum.

“Never ever do that again, you hear me!”

Then she started smiling, though Phoenix could clearly see the tears in her eyes

“I was so worried when Achelois wouldn’t let me see you, sleepy head! Cool guns though! But that’s not the point! Never ever do anything like that again, got it!”

“Y-yes mom.”

“Is that snark I detect there, sister?”

“N-no I w-would never!”

“Let her up Argentum, she hasn’t made a full recovery yet. Though it seems like she’s gained a sense of humour during her little nap.”

Argentum helped Phoenix up as they laughed, walking into the living room together.

“So, sis, what are you going to call them?”

“Two names, right?”

“Quite correct, seeing as there are two guns after all.”

Phoenix unholstered the guns, flinching slightly at the sight of her arm.

“Tenebris and Aurora.”
