Chapter 6: Ataraxia

Chapter 6: Ataraxia

“You will be going through an, for lack of a better word, interesting, experience. In layman’s terms, you will be having your soul read, creating a soul imprint which will be infused into the casts, that are already prepared, which will then speak to me, telling me which Materials and such things it needs. Do you understand?”

“Yes.”

They were standing in the middle of a huge smithy, to one side a huge variety of different metal ingots were stacked ranging in color from greens and blues to blacks, silvers and golds, all meticulously sorted according to some unknown system a large smelter and three work benches, one of which had some kind of half-finished machine on it, were next to the ingots, in one corner on the left there was a huge forge and a couple of anvils with two large silverish blocks of metal, that were probably the casts, stacked next to them. Lots of different projects, most unfinished, were strewn throughout the entire workshop.

“Good, Ache if you would assist Phoenix with the soul part of the process, then we can begin.”

“I’m ready Il.”

Ilmarinen grabbed both of the metal blocks placed them on the empty workbenches, which lit up with runes, causing to circles on the floor to do the same.

“Step into the circles and relax, and no matter what you see, hear, feel, don’t step out of the circle!”

Immediately after they stepped into the circle, runes started flying around them, creating some kind of pattern. While Argentum got a vacant look in her eyes, Phoenix started screaming as her eye flared up, glowing like a flashlight as a miniature storm formed around her. Achelois sent out her own energy in response, managing to contain her power a bit while Ilmarinen leaped into action using his power to grab dozens of ingots, melting some in the smelter, others using multicolored flames that he created midair, as channels on the casts started glowing and shifting around creating rapidly changing patterns. As he was starting to pour metal into the casts via the channels, the power surrounding Phoenix surged, slipping outside of the formation and into her cast before either of the gods could react, creating some kind of bridge, causing Ilmarinen to curse and speed up the process on her side while adding even more metal to the process. After about an hour, he had finished with Argentum’s weapon, the runes and power around her slowly fading away as Argentum stumbled stepping outside of the circle and collapsing next to her cast, closing her eyes and falling asleep, while Ilmarinen shifted his focus fully on Phoenix and her cast which were now hovering in the air. Three hours later the runes around Phoenix and her cast fizzled out as he poured in the last of the metal, conjuring a chair and sitting down, exhausted, the pile of ingots having decreased a lot by this time. The power connecting Phoenix and the cast persisted for another half hour before suddenly cutting out, both Phoenix and the cast dropping like puppets with their strings cut, Achelois barely managing to catch Phoenix while the cast fell on to the workbench with a loud clang causing Argentum to startle awake, looking around frantically.

“She’s powerful, that one, never felt anything quite like it, not even Sephora and Azathoth aren't that powerful and they created this damn place!”

“What happened?”

“*sigh*Your sister was more powerful than expected somehow supercharging the process and completely draining herself, she also seriously injured her arm because she channeled pretty much all her energy through it. She’ll be fine but she’ll have some scars due to this.I better go put her to bed and start healing her. No point in waiting. Il, help the girl open the cast and finalize the bonding process, once Phoenix is up and well enough, we’ll do the same for her.”

After receiving confirmation, she left the smithy, leaving Ilmarinen and Argentum behind.

“Aight, come over here and we’ll see what your weapon is…”

Ilmarinen tipped the cast onto its side and told Argentum to channel her Energy into two depressions on the side, which caused the cast to dissolve into energy, which was absorbed into the weapon that slowly floated down onto the table. It was a beautiful broadsword made of a greenish silver metal with a beautiful swirling design made of pitch-black metal, each line between one and three millimeters, running across the entire length.

“Impressive, an eldritch orichalcum-mithril fusion as the base with voidite runes, and yet the base is also infused with Light and Order energy that is perfectly balanced by the Dark and Chaos energy that was infused into the runes, a true masterpiece. One of the best Weapons created in this manner actually!”

“Wait, didn’t you put a whole lot more metals into here?”

“Yes, I did, but most of those metals were converted into energy which is what makes these weapons so powerful. Sadly, most weapons end up being made of some kind of steel alloy at best, plain iron at worst… The weapons are still extremely durable and powerful, but nowhere near the level of something like this sword! Especially due to the fact that none of them can ever have runes on them making them far worse than this even if they had been made of the same materials! And we still need to enchant it! Ahh… I’m getting ahead of myself, you still need to finish bonding the sword. Pick the sword up and fuse with it.”

Argentum held the sword in front of her and admired it for a moment before imagining the sword becoming a part of her and would have dropped the sword out of shock if it hadn’t stuck to her hand, when the sword glowed gold for a couple seconds. She could suddenly feel the sword like it was a part of her.

“Well, it looks like it was a success! What are you going to call it?”

She looked at the sword, then smiled.

“Ataraxia”
