Ch.17
After finally arrived at the adventurer guild Sora thank the three hooligans and enter the guild. It was two story building with two swords crossing each other as its symbol, as she enter the building she see there’s a receptionist desk at the other end side of the room, and as she walk towards the receptionist desk while looking around, she see there’s a long board stick to the wall on the left covered with lots of paper stuck to it and there’s also a letter on top of the board from F to A while thinking ‘That must be the quest board.’ Sora continue to walk to the receptionist and turn her head to the right where she can see a lot adventurer sitting on a table to enjoy their meals or drinks, and some are just drinking while standing as they chat with each other and it seems there’s also a counter to order food or drinks in the room on the right, just like a bar. While there’s nothing between Sora and the room on the left, there’s a small wooden fence as tall as grown man thigh separating them from the room like bar on the right.
“Excuse me, are you here to put up request?”
By the time she arrive at the receptionist desk, one of the three receptionist asked her with a smile across his face.
“Um, no, I’m here to get an adventurer card.”
“Is that so… If I may ask, why did you need the card for?”
“They said you can use them for identification .”
After she give her reason, the smile on the receptionist gone.
“Have you tried the legal office ma’am?”
“I’ve been there and they told me to get the ID here. Is there something wrong?”
Annoyed because the receptionist expression turn bitter ever since she give her reason, Sora asked him.
“The card is indeed have such function, but we very much against people using them just for identification card.”
“So if you only need them as replacement for ID, sorry but we can’t help you ma’am.”
As the receptionist explained to her, Sora suddenly feel a rough hand touch her shoulder. And she smell alcohol stench when the man spoke.
“I can give you recommendation if you can make me happy lady. Hahahaha….”
Without batting an eye she kicked the man and sent him flying across the room until the wall stop him. A crack can be seen on the wall where the man land and people can see foam coming out from his mouth as he sit leaning on the wall unconscious. Ignoring the people gaze she asked the receptionist again.
“Can you at least do something?”
“…”

“Excuse me, Mr. receptionist?”
“Eh…? Ah, yes?”
“I said. Can you at least do something about the card?”
“Huh… S-sure, wait a moment.”
A moment later the receptionist gave Sora a paper and a feather with ink bottle.
“Please fill out the form.”
When Sora fill the form, the receptionist turn his eyes towards the crowd surrounding the unconscious man and speak to Sora.
“Aren’t you strong ma’am?”
“Huh?”
Sora turn her head to where the receptionist look, as she see the crowd she turn her head back to the form and say.
“He’s being rude, so it’s okay. Right?”
“Yeah, we already warn him over and over again for his behavior. But since he’s B-rank, only the guild master can stop him.”
“But the guild master is always busy with his work, so he can’t always be here all the time. We hope his party member will stop him when he’s drunk, but they’re just the same as him.”
Ignoring the receptionist story, she hand the form back to him and asked.
“Is there anything I should know before joining the guild?”
“Oh right, I haven’t told you have i?”
“Well, the first is that the guild will not take responsibility for your well being, so if you ever get injured during your quest or even if you get killed, there won’t be any compensation from the guild. We will warn you about the danger before you take any request that’s above your capability and if you still insist to take the request it’s not our vault. But since you’re strong, I think you should be fine.”
“And we also have ranking system, the lowest rank is F and the highest is S. you can take request two rank above your current rank until D-rank, so even if you are already E-rank you can’t take C-rank request.”
“We also prevent any adventurer to take request if there’s any unusual event occurring in the location of the request, and any materials you sell to us will help you with raising your rank.”
“You will be fined if you fail the request or abandon it, some request have a time limit, so you better choose carefully.”
“That will be all ma’am, and your card will be complete in two hours, is there anything else you want to ask?”
“Hmm….. maybe not now.”
“I’ll be back later.”
Moved away from the receptionist desk, Sora head for the bar. As she walk through the bar looking for a vacant table, a lot of people staring at her, but no one dare to start a conversation after the commotion she caused. After she manage to get a seat on an empty table she order a drink and snack and enjoy them, satisfied because the snack was different with the meals she eat at the forest she gives extra silver for the waitress.
When she’s about to leave the bar someone call out to her.
“Elris?”
When she turns her head towards the voice she saw a familiar face. It was Anne, she wave her hand to her from the door as she enter the guild.
“Hi, Anne.”
Sora waving her hand back to Anne while walking towards her.
“Where’s Dwane and Julius?”
“They’re selling the materials in the building next door.”
“Huh? You don’t sell them here?”
“What do you mean? We did sell them to adventurer guild…”
“But you said you sell them in the building next door.”
“Ah…. That building is still part of the adventurer building, we sell the materials there, this place is only for submit request or report them when you finish, if this place also take in materials there’s blood everywhere.”
“Hoo, anyway you come in the right time.”
“Why?”
Anne asked suspiciously.
“Huh? What’s with the face, I’m not someone suspicious you know, I just need the guide to walk around the city.”
A relieved sigh come out from Anne.
“I thought you’re going to ask the gold back.”
“Hahaha, I’m not that kind of person Anne.”
“So, how about it? Want to guide me around the city?”
“I’ll pay of course.”
When she mention about payment, Sora can see a glitter showing in Anne eyes.
“Sure, I’ll get the boys.”
“Oi, Anne…”
Anne spiritedly ran through the door while Sora desperately called out to her. But it was too late.
“I just need one guide tho.”
With a sigh Sora exit the guild and head for the building next door.
