31.New job, New payment

Jacob opened the bamboo container and a letter envelope came out. A beautifully handwritten paper slip was in it.

"All new students must present at the Academy auditorium before 10 o'clock."

So much premium-ness and preparation for a notice. Such a waste of resources. Even bitten Apples are more cost efficient than Krieger.

But I was alarmed. For the first time in these four months, every new student from different departments will gather together in one place. This notice alone showed that the academy is declaring something serious.

'Huh, I jinxed myself!'

Next morning,

I went to the auditorium with Jacob only to be separated as the academy divided the seats based on departments. My heart was full of unwillingness to part ways as I would have to sit among all the girls from the department. It was like a sheep entering a wolf's den. But, I had no other choice.

And the girls also didn't forget to take special care of their sole male classmate. They prepared a special seat for me.

There was only one empty chair. In the middle of freaking everyone!

I couldn't even gulp unnoticed if I were to sit there. What are these girls thinking? I would do something naughty if I were to sit with someone in particular.

'So, they decided to bully me. hah.'

I decided not to protest but talk it out.

With a dazzling smile, I wished, "Good day, everyone. All of you are looking gorgeous as ever. My heart can't stop racing as I glimpse at your mesmerizing beauty."

Erica, sitting in the rightmost corner, voiced out, "Oh! Aryan. I didn't know you also had a hobby flattering ladies other than beating their bellies."

I froze on the spot. The girls also giggled.

So Erica shared her valuable experience with them. Haiss, girls. Why do they love gossiping so much? And does Erica even know how misleading her statement is?'

As I looked at Erica, my lightless candle of hope lit up. I asked her with a plea, "Ummm, Erica. Can you sit on that chair? You know, I don't want to stain that holy place with my sinful being."

Just after I said it, 19 pairs of eyes looked at me together and made me startled.

Erica looked at me with an amusing expression, "Aryan, please don't refuse your classmate's kind intention. Look, we all prepared such a nice seat with a great view for you. It will hurt us if you just reject that."

I was almost on the verge of crying. Maybe others will think of this as a blessing. But I am not so naive.

'If a fisherman throws a bait, there is a fish to catch.'

But, things were out of my hands. I sighed and went to that seat my precious classmates prepared for me. Soon after, I could hear them chatting with each other. They started their 'girl's talk'- beauty tips, fashion, cute guys, etc. Where I would never be able to join in. This only made me uncomfortable.

Luckily someone came to rescue me from this awkwardness. I had to share some pleasantries with Samantha, the girl on my left side. Samantha's cheeks were a red hue as she sat so close to me. These girls may have acted tough, but they were still immature inside. Most of them come from good backgrounds where they were trained to become modest ladies for these years.

"Hey, Aryan. When are you going to release those vouchers ?"

And that immature Samantha nonchalantly pointed out an embarrassing episode of my life like it was something interesting to discuss.

I could not help but look at her with an annoying gaze.

"You should go to Jacob if you want those. He is the one sharing those with others."

"I asked Jacob. He said you stopped giving him. Why did you stop anyway? Did you get tired of KFC? Want me to introduce a new restaurant?"

'They even know about my food deal with Jacob. Just how thin-lipped was this guy? Should I have a nice talk with him today?'

~In a populous corner of the auditorium, a poor boy sneezed.

"Achoo! Hmm, did I catch a cold? But I am a fire Elementalist!"

If only Aryan knew the feeling of being surrounded by girls gank with prey-like gazes, he wouldn't curse Jacob like this.

"Why do you even need that? Aren't you a student of the healing department like me?"

"Nah, c'mon. Your healing is special, you know that. Just give us those vouchers. Pretty please….."

I chuckled at her child-like behavior, which looked like a little girl was asking for candies. Apparently, the reason my treatment became famous was because of my lightning. Other healers can only make you a little comfortable when healing. But, as I use a weakened version of lightning to heal patients, nerves of the specific organs send little jolts of pleasure in their brains. As a result, my patients get to feel something they call "Tickling Pleasure." It's just the effect of stimulating their nerves.

I heard that they quite enjoy this feeling. So, my service was like a Heal and Massage package.

Amidst the chatter, something caught my attention.

"Us?"

Samantha had a beautiful smile on her face.

"Yeah, us. We are your invaluable lovely classmates. But, you always go around with Senior Emma and her friends while ignoring us. It made us feel very sad, you know. So, make up for our emotional losses."

Her words stabbed my ears. I cautiously looked around and found others scrutinizing me. No matter how soft-hearted the students of the healing department were, they were also girls. They also loved the attention and also had jealousy. These days, I tried to ignore them as much as possible. So aside from Erica, I didn't have any contact with others. But I couldn't ignore those 3rd-year seniors with at least juvenile core cultivation, for fear of death. So my action must have hurt their pride!

As the gazes around me intensified, I could only surrender.

"My precocious classmates, you don't need those stupid vouchers. I will heal you for free."

Smile bloomed on their faces. It looks like their mission was a success.

But, Erica interjected,

"How can this be, Aryan? Why would we get your help for free? Do we look like misers to you?"

"Ah, of course not. I am just glad to help my classmates. That's all."

Erica shook her head at my response.

"No, it will be annoying for you to heal us whenever we want. And others will think we are bullying a kindhearted classmate like you."

'You are bullying me,' I screamed inwardly.

She continued, "Why don't we do this? Those who receive your treatment will take you to KFC or other places you like."

I was about to respond but words stuck in my throat.

'Hey, aren't you basically saying you guys will take me on a date?'

Seeing others nodding their heads, I didn't dare to show my resistance. And that's how I got a job as a classmate's healer and 19 dates as payment.
