Chapter 31

Chapter 31

“I want to try it,” Deon said, his heart beating rapidly. “But can I really risk it? Even if I don’t open it, my progress will still be much faster. I really don’t need to risk anything.”

But even though he said that he still couldn’t help but look at the third gate and the advantages that it holds. “Fuck it. Let’s do it.”

Deon approached the third life gate with his heart beating rapidly. He was equally excited and nervous at the same time, but he quickly took a deep breath and closed his eyes after arriving at the front of the third life gate, refocusing himself before opening the third life gate.

“Let’s do this,” Deon said with determined eyes as he positioned himself. He placed his hand toward the gate before pushing with every strength he had.

*Thud*

The third life gate didn’t budge as though it didn’t feel deon, but deon didn’t give up and kept pushing

“It looks like it won’t be easy. I thought it would be,” Deon thought before ramming his body toward the third life gate, using his momentum to increase his strength

*Boom*

“Ugh…” Deon groaned as the third life gate didn’t budge at all. It felt like deon had rammed his body into a concrete wall instead of a door. “I guess it really is impossible without the help of a second life flame… No… I can’t give up yet. Maybe this is what it feels like when opening a life gate… let’s see how far I can take this.”

Deon kept trying for over ten minutes until his body started flickering. “Is this my limit?” Deon spoke as he looked at his body

According to the books, fusing with the life flame will only take a few minutes before the fusion ends, and once the fusion ends, it will take another 24 hours before one can fuse with his life flame again. That’s why it would usually take days, if not weeks, to open the life gates

‘At least I lasted for 10 minutes or so,’ deon thought before he felt his life flame exit his body and return to its original position in the center of the room

*Sigh* “Looks like I wasn’t able to do it after all,” Deon said as he looked at his third life gate. “Is it really impossible in my state? Or is it because I didn’t do enough?... Well, whatever it is, I’m not going to give up with just one try. I’ll try again tomorrow, but for now, let’s go check out our second life flame.”

Deon looked toward the opened second life gate. “I wonder if there is any difference between the first life flame room and the second life flame room,” Deon said as he approached the second life flame room.

Instructor Edder’s Office

Instructor Edder is sitting at his office table, filling out some paperwork before stopping when he sees one of the paperwork on his table.

“Heh. It Looks like there is a monster in this year’s batch… this is going to be interesting,” Instructor Edder said as he amusedly observed one of his paperwork.

The paperwork that he was holding is the attributes status of Deon and his progress after a month of physical training.

“I can’t believe it only took one month for deon to catch up with the people one year older than him… and his seniors definitely didn’t laze around. In fact, they were more hardworking than the previous batch, but then again, that’s also because of deon. Heh, this batch is really interesting,” Instructor Edder amusedly said. “Well. If they are this hardworking, I guess it won’t be bad if I increase the training regime.”

Before Instructor Edder could continue his planning, someone knocked on his door, interrupting his thought, “Who is it?” Instructor Edder annoyedly asked

“Sir Edder, Fortress Master Krey, asked me to invite you to his office” A servant’s voice rang through the door.

‘Hm? What does Sir Krey want?’ Instructor Edder thought before replying to the servant, “Is it urgent? Do you know what it is about?”

“Yes, Sir, It is urgent. Fortress Master Krey wants me to escort you to his office immediately,” the servant replied

“All right. I’ll be right there,” Instructor Edder said before exiting his office. “Let’s go.”

“Yes, Sir,” the servant replied and escorted Instructor Edder to another office before knocking.

“Come in,” a voice rang through the door, to which the servant immediately complied and opened the door.

“Ahh, there he is. Gentlemen, this is Instructor Edder,” an Elderly man said, seated at the main office table while addressing the three gentlemen in his office, who were clearly visitors.

“Sir Krey,” Instructor Edder said before saluting to the elderly man at the main office table.

“Instructor Edder, These three gentlemen here have a few questions for you regarding one of your students,” Sir Krey said, making the three visitors stand up as they greeted the instructor.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Hello, Sir Edder. My name is Gerald. I am an administrator from the awakening temple,” Administrator Gerald politely said

“Nice to meet you, Sir Edder. My name is Evan Peat. A Bishop serving the God of Light,” Bishop Evan smilingly said

“My name is Myle Sadlyn from the Beyonder Association. Nice to meet you, Sir Edder,” Administrator Myle said

Instructor Edder was startled by the three visitors’ high background before greeting them back. “Nice to meet you, gentlemen. How can I help you?.” Instructor Edder didn’t know what title he should use for the three visitors and just copied Sir Krey and called the three visitors gentlemen.

“As Fortress Master Krey said, we wanted to discuss one of your students,” Administrator Gerald said

“One of my students? May I ask for the name of the student?” Instructor Edder asked

“His name is Deon,” Administrator Gerald said

“Deon?... May I ask what it is for?” Instructor Edder asked

“Well… It’s a bit complicated, but….” Before Administrator Gerald could continue his word, Fortress Master Krey interrupted the conversation

“We will explain it to you, so how about we all sit and discuss more about it?”

“Yes, Sir,” Instructor Edder replied

“I understand,” Administrator Gerald said before sitting down along with instructor Edder and the other two visitors.

Dreamscape: Second Life Flame Room

“I guess it’s pretty much the same as the First Life Flame Room,” Deon thought as he looked around the second life flame room. “I can’t believe I opened my second life gate first before I learned any magic spells. Heh. I’m too fast.”

‘What time is it?’ Deon thought as he conjured a pocket watch and saw it was only 8 am. “Hm… I’ll skip today’s breakfast and meditate for a few hours until I gain at least a few percentages of control for my second life flame.”

But before deon could meditate, he heard someone knock on his door in the waking world, interrupting him. ‘Hm? Is it William? I don’t think we had plans for today,’ deon thought as he returned to the waking world and answered the door, where he saw a servant waiting for him.

“Yes? Can I help you?” Deon asked

“Fortress Master Krey wants to invite you into his office for a private discussion,” the servant replied

“Fortress Master?” Deon confusedly asked, “Can I ask what this is about?”

“I am not sure myself, but it is very urgent that you must come with me right away,” the servant politely said

“All right. Give me a few seconds to clean up, and I’ll come with you,” Deon said before going to his room to clean himself up.

.

“All right, let’s go. Lead the way. I don’t know where the office of the fortress master” Deon said

“I understand. Please follow me,” The servant said as he led deon to the office area of the fortress and into one of the corner offices before knocking on the door.

“Come in,” a voice rang through the door,

“Please, Enter,” the servant said to deon before opening the door, where deon saw instructor Edder and a familiar face from the awakening temple that tested them after the awakening ceremony.

‘What was his name again? Geralt? Geran?’ Deon thought before giving his attention to the elderly man seated at the main office table, “Fortress Master Krey, you summoned me. How may I be of assistance?” Deon politely spoke as he saluted the elderly man

Deon had never seen the fortress master before, but he saw the nameplate on the main office table, making deon’s life easier as he didn’t have to guess with five people in the room.

“Ah. Good. You must be Deon. At ease,” The elderly man said

“Yes, Sir,” Deon said before ending his salute.

“These three gentlemen here have asked for you so that you could answer a few questions for them,” Fortress Master Krey said as the three visitors stood up and introduced themselves.

“Nice to meet you, Sir Deon. My name is Evan Peat. A Bishop Serving the God of light,” Bishop Evan warmly said

“My name is Myle Sadlyn from the Beyonder Association. Nice to meet you, Sir Deon,” Administrator Myle smilingly said

“Hello, Sir Deon, I don’t know if you remember me, but I am Gerald, an Administrator from the Awakening Temple,” Administrator Gerald politely said

“Ah, yes, Of course, I remember you, Administrator Gerald. How are you?” Deon said, quite relieved that the administrator from the awakening temple introduced himself so that deon could remember his name.

“I am good. Thank you for asking. How about you? How is the life of a high knight treating you?” Administrator Gerald asked

“It is pretty exciting learning many things. I can’t wait to uphold my duties in the future,” Deon honestly said, but he also mentioned his duties to tie himself with the order so that the awakening temple won’t be able to do much to him if he really is in trouble.

“I see. That’s good,” Administrator Gerald said as both Fortress Master Krey and Instructor Edder nodded to themselves in satisfaction.

“May I ask what this is about?” Deon asked the three visitors

“We just have a few questions about what happened during the awakening ceremony, but before that, can we check your current progress?” Administrator Gerald asked

‘So, it was really about the awakening ceremony… wait… my current progress? Oh no,’ Deon nervously thought as he looked around him, where he saw the five people eagerly waiting for his response. ‘Fuck… I can’t say no to this, can I? Why didn’t you guys come yesterday? Did you really have to come today when I just broke through?... should I say no? No. I can’t. That would only increase their suspicion.”

“It’s alright, Deon. No matter what the result is, you won’t get into trouble,” Instructor Edder said, seeing deon all nervous and hesitant.

“O… Okay… I don’t mind” Deon had no choice but to reply since he took too much thinking ‘I don’t think they will kill me, right, seeing I’m very talented?’ deon thought, trying to be as optimistic as he could

“Deon, you don’t have to worry, we are just checking your progress, and we won’t hurt you,” Administrator Gerald smilingly said, trying to reassure deon

‘Just make sure you don’t get shocked when you get the result, all right?’ deon thought before speaking. “Thank you, Administrator Gerald. I trust you all.”

“Good.” Administrator Gerald said before looking at the bishop beside him, “If you don’t mind, Bishop.”

“Of course, I don’t mind,” Bishop Evan said before smiling at deon. “Don’t worry, my child. I won’t hurt you.”

“Thank you, Father,” Deon replied. Knowing the bishop was the one testing him somewhat made deon relieved as he always trusted the priests from the God of Light, as Father James was once a priest from the God of Light church.

The bishop warmly smiled before closing his eyes while reaching his hand toward deon and started reciting some unknown language, and as the bishop recited his unknown language, Words made of light started appearing as they revolved around the bishop’s hand.

Deon was amazed by the show of magic, as it was the first time he saw a priest do a magic spell, but deon also grew increasingly nervous, making his mind full of complicated emotions.

As the priest finished his incantation, the floating words entered the bishop’s hand, and a light appeared in the palm of his hand as it shined upon deon, basking deon in warm light, which somewhat helped deon calm his nervousness.

“Eh? You’re already a stage 2 rank 1?”

Thought For Thoughts

* What do the visitors want?

* Nothing much happened in the chapter, tbh I didn’t expect the introductions to be this long.
