Chapter 30

Chapter 30

“Thank you, Instructor,” Deon said, not finding any flaw in his instructor’s facial expression, and continued his training

Deon refocused himself and connected with his mana again as he slowly spun his mana inside his stomach.

‘I think I need to spin it faster for the other mana to gather,’ Deon thought as he increased the spinning speed of his mana until it had become faster enough that deon didn’t have to spin it manually to spin around.

Deon imagined the mana as though he was spinning water inside a jar, making the spinning speed a lot faster.

Before long, deon noticed some of his mana from the different parts of his body slowly moving toward his stomach, joining the spinning mana and making it bigger.

Deon slowly revolved his mana for hours. Not once did he break his concentration. He ignored every sound that could distract him, fully devoting his time to spinning his mana.

After a few hours, he was able to gather a large amount of his mana in his stomach, but before he could continue his training, he heard the bell ring, signaling the end of the class.

“All right, that is it for today, make sure you all train your Inner Mana Control for one month, and once the month is over, I will be checking each of your progress, and if I am satisfied enough, we will start the enhancement magic training,” Instructor Edder said, making all the new high knights open their eyes.

‘The class is already finished?’ Deon thought, ‘I only need a few more hours to gather all my mana. I guess I’ll do it later in my dreamscape… wait… what happens to my spinning mana? Would it stop? What about my progress.’ The more deon thought about it, the more he became worried, so he raised his hand

“Yes, Deon?” Instructor Edder asked

“What will happen to my spinning mana? Will it stay there?” Deon asked

“It depends on your progress. If you could spin it until you no longer need to spin it manually, then it will stay, and if not, then it will stop spinning and return to its original course,” Instructor Edder explained. “You all don’t need to rush things. As I said, learning magic takes time, and if you rush things, it will only cause you disadvantages, so take your time and make sure you all do it correctly. It doesn’t matter how fast you progress. It matters how you do it perfectly it.”

‘Hm. I think I have already done that, but let's see if it would last,’ Deon thought before closing his eyes again to check his revolving mana.

‘All right, I guess I was able to do it. I would be really pissed if all that hard work just disappeared. I wonder if all the mana would still gather around my revolving mana? Or would it stop until I manually spin it again? Hm.’ Deon deeply pondered as he ‘observed’ his revolving mana.

‘Let’s reserve that questions for later. As instructor Edder said, there is no need to rush. I still have plenty of time to learn everything about mana control. But ill still train my revolving mana in my dreamscape. I want to see what would happen if I gathered all my mana into one place. Will something happen once I do that?’

One Month Later: Sunday, Morning

Dreamscape: Life Gate Room

For the last month, deon has been diligently meditating for at least 10 hours every day. He had a goal of reaching the second life gate by the end of the month, and with his calculation, he only needed to do 10 hours of meditation every day, which he could do with 5 hours of meditating in the day and 5 hours of meditation in the dreamscape.

And today is the last meditation that he needs to reach 100% life flame control, and to make sure everything went according to plan, he meditated in his dreamscape to access the 100% concentration that he might need.

Deon is sitting inside his life flame, completely engrossed in meditating, and after seconds later, the Blue flame explodes, expanding throughout the life gate room before calming down and returning to its original size as deon calmly opens his eyes.

‘Did I it?’ Deon thought as he looked at his hands. Although he doesn’t have the crystal orb to look at his overall progress, he feels that he has succeeded in reaching 100% life flame control.

Deon felt he was one with the Life flame and had absolute control over it. He could even feel the mana that the life flame was releasing and felt that his control over his mana increased just by having 100% life flame control.

“Hehe… I bet instructor Edder will be surprised when he finds out,” Deon said excitedly before calming himself down. “But… is it a good idea to tell instructor Edder? Hmm… Maybe it’s not a good idea to tell him for now since he would get suspicious if I were able to reach 100% life flame in just one month… Maybe, I’ll tell him next month. That way, it’s more within his expectations.”

Although deon wanted to tell instructor Edder about his progress so that he could get some good advice, deon decided to opt out for now since he might attract some unwanted attention, like last time in the awakening ceremony, where the head of the awakening temple suspected deon of having a way to awaken faster.

“Still, though, I never expected that bonus phase to have so much impact on my progress. It took me 10 hours of meditation for a month just to gain 14% control, while in the awakening ceremony, it only took less than 10 hours to get 80%+ of life flame control” *Sigh* “Maybe, I should’ve taken the bonus phase more seriously then I might’ve gotten a 90% or maybe more.”

When deon opened his life gate during the awakening ceremony, he remembered observing the room first and trying to figure out if he had truly passed, wasting his time instead of doing the bonus phase, which was more critical.

*Sigh* “If only I used those time to just meditate, maybe I really would’ve gotten 90%+ and would only need a week or so to reach 100%” Deon shook his head in regret. “But then again, I shouldn’t be complaining; William only got less than 20%... so, I already have a large advantage, and if you count the dreamscape, I have an insane amount of advantage over my peers.”

“But I also can’t laze around. The more life gate I open, the more powerful I’ll become. Soon I’ll be able to own my estate where Father James stays, or if the kids don’t want to be knights,” Deon spoke in a hopeful voice, excited for the future.

“What am I doing? This isn’t the time to be celebrating. I still need to open my second life gate,” Deon said and looked around him and saw two new gates in his Life Flame Room. “Are they my second and third life gate?”

In the past month, deon has been learning everything he could about opening the second gate, and according to his studies, once he reaches 100% of life flame control, two more gates will appear, which is the second and third life gate.

However, even though the third gate also appeared, it doesn’t necessarily mean he can open the third gate because once deon open the second life gate, the third life gate will harden and cannot be opened until he also reaches 100% control of my second life flame.

“Hm… which one should I choose?” Deon pondered. There are two life gates in his life flame room, one to his right and one to his left.

According to the books he read, it doesn’t matter which gate he chooses; whatever he chooses will be the second life gate.

“Whatever, let’s just pick the right one,” Deon thought as he approached his life gate to his right.

Deon closed his eyes when he arrived at the right life gate and imagined himself being one with his first life flame, which was the requirement to open the second life gate. Deon alone won’t be able to open his second life gate and needs the help of his fully controlled first life flame.

After closing his eyes for a few seconds, the Life flame in the center of the room trembled and started to move toward deon before entering deon’s back.

The moment deon’s first life flame entered his back, deon burst out of the flame, but the flame didn’t harm deon, as it slowly fused with his skin, making deon look like an embodiment of fire.

“Woah” Deon exclaimed as he looked at his hand and body. He felt surreal, as though he became fire itself before he saw his hand flicker, and instinctively knew that he had a limited time in this form. “Now is not the time to be admiring about this,” as deon directed his focus toward the second life gate before him.

Deon took a deep breath and reached his left hand toward his second life gate before pushing it hard.

*Boooom*

A large explosive sound rang throughout the life flame room the moment deon pushed his second life gate, even surprising deon in the process.

With such an explosive push, deon’s second life gate fully opened, making deon more surprised and somewhat baffled: “What is happening to me?”

According to the books he had read during the past month, it usually takes countless tries to open the second life gate, and there are even instances where it would take months just to open the second life gate due to lack of experience, but deon was able to open it using just one hand.

“How come I am able to open my life gates so easily? Is there something that I do not know?” Deon thought deeply

Deon initially believed that it was the black ring that enabled him to effortlessly open his first life gate during the awakening ceremony. This was because it was the item that the head of the awakening temple had requested.

“Is there something special about me? My dreamscape?.” Deon thought the most special thing about deon was his dreamscape, but he couldn’t find any relationship between his dreamscape and his life gate. “Does my dreamscape have a secret ability that helps me open my life gate? Or is it because I conjured my life flame room with my dreamscape?”

The deon thought about it, the more baffled he became, which somewhat made him nervous, mostly because he doesn’t like not knowing things, especially if it involves his future prospects.

“I mean, if my dreamscape can really help with opening my life gates, then my dreamscape is more overpowered than I thought… hmm… I wonder what else does my dreamscape do? I wonder if there is any book in the library that can at least help me to figure out something about my dreamscape… though I doubt it.”

As deon’s mind began to wander, he couldn’t help but think about something ridiculous “If I was able to open my second life gate easily, then can I open my third life gate too?” Deon thought as he looked at his third life gate to his left

According to the books, once a person opens their second life gate, the third life gate will harden, making it impossible to open it unless that person has the help of two life flames.

“If I can open my third life gate, then I will activate the synergy law, boosting my mana by 100%, which pretty much doubles my mana… hmm… should I do it?... but what if I open my third life gate, and I won’t be able to control my second life flame anymore? Or What if it destroys my life gates altogether? Can I risk that? Hmm,” Deon’s mind began to battle between the advantages of having a third life gate open and the unknown risks that would happen if he opened it, making deon increasingly nervous.
