Chapter 26
Adamantium Fortress: Classroom A
Next Day
“Morning William, Did you oversleep? How come you just arrived now?” Deon amusedly asked, seeing William almost coming late to the classroom.
William yawned as he sat beside deon, clearly still sleepy: “I’ve read the books we got yesterday. I didn’t realize the time since we had no curfew or alarms. Thank God my body realized it was time to wake up.”
“Oh. Heh. You better be careful, then. You know what the Instructor said about tardiness,” Deon said, secretly rejoicing about having a dreamscape and not worrying about being late.
When deon got his books from the library, he immediately recorded them in his Dreamscape and read them in his Dreamscape, which allowed him to grasp a lot about the books.
‘Heh. Thank God, I have my Dreamscape, or I would be like William now, still sleepy,’ Deon thought as he saw William yawn again.
“Did you read the books we got?” William asked
“Yeah. Somewhat, I read the Tree of Life book to review the lecture we had yesterday,” Deon said
Last night, deon was able to fully review everything he had learned yesterday with the help of the Tree of Life book and his Dreamscape, allowing him to fully grasp the knowledge that instructor Edder taught them.
“Oh. That’s a good idea. I should’ve done that,” William ponderingly said. “I read the Imperial Battle Arts book, and you were right.”
“Right? About what?” Deon curiously asked since he didn’t read it last night
“This Imperial Battle arts book is different from the one in the institute. This one has an additional level of mastery that involves our Mana and magic *Yawn*” William said
“What do you mean? Explain it properly,” Deon annoyedly said
“You know how our imperial battle arts only have three levels: the basic, Intermediate, and Advance Mastery, right?” William asked
“Yeah,” Deon replied
“Well, this one includes another higher-level mastery called Master Level, above the advanced mastery, and for the master level, one needs to have Mana in order to attain it. That’s probably why the institute never taught it to us,” William explained.
“Really? That’s interesting….” Deon said
“Yeah. What’s more interesting is that we don’t need to reach the advanced level to start practicing the master level,” William said
“Really? How does that work?” Deon curiously said
“I haven’t fully read it yet, but from what I could understand, Master level isn’t really teaching us new moves. It’s more about applying Mana or magic with the moves we already know, which means one can have intermediate-level mastery and still be able to use the master-level mastery techniques. Does that makes sense?” William said, not confident about his explanation
“Somewhat. That’s interesting. Does that mean we can skip the advanced level and head straight to the master level?” Deon asked
“Yes, strictly speaking, we can skip the advance level, but it wasn’t recommended as you won’t be able to fully show the power of the imperial battle arts, and your techniques would be incomplete,” William said
“I guess that makes sense,” Deon said
“It said we still need to fully master the advanced level to complete the Master Level. They shouldn’t have called it master since it is very confusing with Mastery levels, you know what I mean?” William said
“Not really, you can still understand it. Maybe you are just sleepy,” Deon said
“I guess,” William said as he yawned once more, but before he could finish yawning, the classroom door burst wide open, alerting all the new high knights in the room as they saw their Instructor entering in a very loud fashion.
“Fuck. That scared me,” William whisperingly said, making deon amused
“Good Morning, Class. I hope you guys slept well since this will be a long lecture,” Instructor Edder said as he put his books on his table. “Before we start, did everyone here get the six books I asked for?”
“Yes, Sir,” The high knights replied
“Good, Then, does everyone have the Magic System Book with you today?” Instructor Edder asked
“Yes, Sir,” Some of the high knights replied, with some not responding, as they forgot the books in their dorm room.
“Oh. No. I forgot my books,” William softly said as panic began to show on his face.
“You didn’t bring your books? That’s the whole point of having books.”
This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.
“Yeah. I know. I was almost late. I forgot about it. Did you bring yours?”
“Of course. I brought all mine.” Deon said as he showed all his books under his table.
The table of the high knights has a small open drawer for storing books and notes, which deon used to store all six of his books.
“Can we share for now? I swear I’ll get it this afternoon,” William asked
“Fine. But next time, don’t forget it,” Deon said
“Thank you. I won’t,” William said
“To all of you who forgot your books, ask your deskmate to share theirs. I do not plan to let you waste my time so that you all could get it,” Instructor Edder strictly said
“Now, Everyone, go to page 9. We will start our lecture from there,” Instructor Edder said as all the high knights immediately turned their page number 9
On page 9, deon and the rest of the high knights saw a Three circle diagram with each circle connecting with each other.
“The magic system is divided into three major pathways, each representing a different form of magic: Divine Magic, Arcane Magic, and Unknown Magic.
Arcane Magic is the form of magic that we high knights and the majority of mana-users use as it uses the Mana as the source of its magic, while Divine magic is the form of magic that priests and holy knights use.
Now, I don’t know much about divine magic, and I do not intend to teach you all about divine magic because even if I do, you guys won’t be able to do divine magic as it is only reserved for priests and holy knights but divine magic uses both Mana and power of gods as the source for their magic.
However, I also know that it is possible for priests and holy knights to do magic without Mana. So really, the main source for their magic is the power of the Gods, while Mana can only be considered as their support source for their magic, so if any of you fight a priest or a holy knight, do not underestimate them even if they ran out of Mana as it is still possible for them to do magic.
As for the Unknown Magic, It is more of a symbol than an actual pathway, as it represents everything that we do not know about magic or magic that does not conform to Arcane magic and Divine Magic.
Now, Like the divine magic, I won’t delve much into the Unknown Magic as most of it is theoretical, and it is something that we, as high knights, do not need to know to do our job. So, I won’t be lecturing about the Unknown Magic, but if you are curious about it, you are free to learn more about it in your free time.
So, think of this lecture more about Arcane Magic than the whole magic system itself. So before I delve more into the Arcane Magic, Are there any questions so far?” Instructor Edder asked, with one of the high knights immediately raising her hand
“It’s you again. What’s your name again?” Instructor Edder asked the female high knight
“It’s Julia Monaghan, Instructor,” The blonde high knight said
“All right. What’s your question, Julia?” Instructor Edder asked
“Can you give us an example of an Unknown Magic so that we can at least know what it is?” Julia asked
“All right. And for this example, I will be using the Learmonth Family and their Lineage Magic. Duke Learmonth has an ability that allows him to summon an Elemental Fire Lion as his familiar that can help him in his battles. Now, Is that considered magic?” Instructor Edder asked Julia
“Yes, Sir,” Julia answered
“However, what if I tell you that summoning his elemental Fire lion does not require Mana at all, as he can summon it anytime he wants? Is that still considered magic even though Duke Learmonth does not use Mana nor the power of the gods when summoning his familiar?” Instructor Edder asked again
“Uhm… no?” Julia doubtingly answered
“Then what is it?” Instructor Edder asked, but this time, Julia did not answer the Instructor as she was in deep thought
“And that is the reason why we have Unknown Magic. There are many magics in the world that we fail to understand because it does not conform to the basic understanding that we have, which is that every magic needs a source of power.
In your path of magic, there will be many things that you will all encounter that can defy everything that you know. So be open-minded, and if you do not understand some magic, just throw it in the Unknown Magic section.”
Deon listened carefully to Instructor Edder about the unknown magic and couldn’t help but think about his Dreamscape. His Dreamscape does not need Mana to operate, nor does it use the power of the gods.
‘Is my Dreamscape part of the Unknown Magic?’ Deon thought, but before he could finish his thought, he heard Instructor Edder again. “So, Are there any more questions?” To which Deon immediately raised his hand.
“What is it?” Instructor Edder curiously asked since he never expected deon to raise his hand.
“What is Lineage Magic?” Deon asked.
Deon thought that since Duke Learmonth’s Lineage Magic is part of the Unknown Magic, and his Dreamscape is part of the Unknown Magic, Does that mean it’s also a Lineage Magic? Especially since his “Parents” were capable of giving deon an artifact that held their holographic image.
“Good question. Lineage magic is part of the branch magic of the Unknown Magic. Suppose Unknown Magic is one of the major pathways of the magic system. Lineage magic is part of the Lesser pathways of the Magic system, which are the magic branches of the major pathways.
What makes lineage magic part of the unknown magic is how their magic can be passed down through generations of their family and how nobody knows how it works. Not even the families with Lineage Magic
Throughout the kingdom, only four families have Lineage Magic, and they are the four great families; if you guys don’t know who they are, it’s the Royal Family and the three Duke household. And it’s also because they have Lineage Magic that they were able to rise above the noble families and become the four great families of the kingdom,” Instructor Edder explained. “Any more questions?” with no one answering the Instructor
Deon sat in his seat, full of thoughts as he processed what Instructor Edder told the class “Hm. So does that make my Dreamscape a Lineage magic?... It could be. Maybe it activated when I fell into comatose to protect me? Or there’s also a chance that I developed it when I went into comatose?
There’s a large chance my parents were also a mana-user since they gave me an artifact as my memento, and my family might be a lineage family… But if that’s true, how come they abandoned me? Shouldn’t every family with Lineage Magic be strong?
Or they could just be rich people that can buy expensive artifacts. But then again, if they are rich. How come they left me? Ughh… I don’t know anymore. I don’t care anymore. Whatever it is, I’m just grateful that I at least learned what kind of magic my Dreamscape is. I should read more about it in the library when I get a chance,”
“All right. Next, Let's get back to the topic at hand, which is Arcane Magic, but before I delve more into the Arcane Magic, I need to explain Mana first and its Innate abilities.
The Mana has five innate ability, like how Life Flame has three innate ability, but the difference is that the five innate ability of our Mana is what makes Arcane Magic works, and they are: Mana Nexus, Mana Circuit, Mana Support, Mana Materialization, and Mana Transformation."
