-10 minutes before the Volcano erupted-
The trench dwarves had been hard at work these past few days. Something was coming and the trench dwarves didn't know what exactly that was. Recently, clan leader Rust had declared that the tribe was under a state of emergency and that a terrible danger was going to approach them any day.
Rust and the other dwarves were going about the different processes and task when suddenly they all heard a roar of power coming from the northwest of their clan grounds. The explosion was much too far to truly affect the trench dwarves, however Rust had figured this out already and was actually trying to prepare for what he dubbed a “constant stream of beasts and monsters”.
As the first explosions sounded, Rust quickly stopped focusing on the explosion and continued to work on his newest project. What lay in front of Rust was a rapidly cooling piece of iron that had been molded into a fitting curve that could easily slice opponents.
After about 5 years of using the spears made by Rust and his small team of blacksmiths, the warriors started to give negative feedback on some of the capabilities of the spear. The leader of the ground forces was a battle hardened veteran and was extremely talented with the spear and yet even he was having some shortcomings with the spear.
The spear was great for long distance and keeping your enemy at bay from afar, however if enemies were able to enter a close combat situation, the spear became much less reliable. This was coming from some of the best spear users in the clan, so a while back Rust had started the design of a new weapon.
The past 5 months were sitting in a culmination of hot iron that was slowly slowly simmering down to an acceptable temperature.
Rust took the metal piece and brought it over to his craftstation, where he proceeded to form and bind a special piece to the end of the iron piece.
Rust had named this special part the “hilt”, which was another reference to his culture and language. Hildta meant “to grab” or “to strike” depending on the context, so Rust used this name when making the hilt.

The hilt was wooden with a black and sticky gloss plastered over it. At the bottom of the hilt was a small crevice one could put a small jewel or object into. This was his first hilt, so Rust did not attach a cross guard (he hasn't invented it yet).
After the hilt was attached and was firm in Rusts hands, he took the iron and hilt over to a small, flat, blackrock surface and began to slowly and methodically sharpen the iron.
After 30 minutes of this, Rust was satisfied for now. Rust then put some clear fluid on the sword, which glowed for a second and then began to sizzle on top of the iron.
After the sizzling had stopped, the piece of iron and hilt began to shine a magical green color and at this moment Rust knew that he had completed it.
Rust had someone call over the veteran of the ground troops to test the new weapon. When the veteran walked in, he had a big smile on his face as he smugly said,”Oh great tribal chief! I am here at your call!”
Rust sighed and pinched his brow and exasperatingly said,”Loominus, I swear to Sol I will throw you to the beasts if you keep this crap up!”
Loominus scoffed and replied,”Yeah, yeah, or so you keep saying. Anyways, where is my new weapon?”
Rust brought over the iron and hilt and said,”I have not named this creation, would you like to name it?”
Looming was stunned, and after processing Rusts’ words he nervously asked,”A- Are you sure? This already looks like a great invention, do you truly want me to name it?”
Rust chuckled at his reaction. Honestly he had no idea what to call this invention, so he tossed the stone to the next lake. Rust nodded and said,”Yes, as long as it isn't stupid.”
Loominus looked at the iron and hilt in his hand seriously for a few minutes. It was unknown how many thoughts and ideas were racing through his mind at this moment.
Loominus then spoke up and said,”I am thinking about using the verb “to sever” which can also mean “slice” in certain situations, is this a good way to go about this?”
Rust eyes widened a bit upon hearing this. He laughed heartily and he said,”Well I'll be! The God's really do work miracles! I can't believe you actually had a good idea!”
Loominus had a wry smile on his jilted face. His look right now was quite ugly but he simply responded,”I have good ideas..”
Rust nodded and said,”This time! Now, what is the name of my new creation?”
Loominus responded with,”I was thinking about calling it a “Swort”, based on our own word, “Swortida” for severing and slicing, what do you think?”
Rust nodded his head once more in appreciation and then had an odd look as he added on,”How about “Sword” instead? I have heard some of the young ones calling some of the beasts in the eastern forests “swortas”, this will make it slightly less confusing.”
Seeing his idea being approved Loominus couldn't be any happier and asked,”Can I try the Sword out?”
Rust smiled and gave the sword to Loominus so that he could get some practice in before the beast waves hit soon.
As soon as Loominus picked up the sword, an alert in Rusts mind came ringing.
