Chapter 7- Snake Mouth

Snake Mouth

Spider awoke three hours later like clockwork , finding himself in a different place entirely from when he had gone to sleep. He was being snuggled, he found, a soft weight using as a pillow to rest upon.

He didn't mind.

However he had things to do, so with a quick carefulness he freed himself from his comfortable cage and rose to take in the morning air. His eyes swiped the darkness a few times to get adjusted and when he did, he found Roger standing guard, the rotation had switched.

"Spider you're up early. " He was greeted.

Spider waved him off and continued forward.

He would press on for a while through the darkness of early morning, trekking through a bundle of snuggled trees, passing by a large bush and trapezing over a small river. Finally in a small clearing he stopped, his eyes scanning a large rock twice before deciding this was the spot.

He looked around carefully and began to wait.

It would be minutes before a shaking of the grass to his left would indicate a sound but when it did, Spider looked up to one of the most suspicious people Spider knew. With fox like eyes, and a snake-like smile he emanated a poisonous glare as natural as breathing.

He was also one of the only people here Spider trusted.

When the fox's smile got close, he spoke.

"Good to see you snake mouth. "

"Good to see you, ya slippery Spider. "

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

They laughed and clasped hands.

"It's good to know the competition couldn't kill you," he began. "It would mean they were better than I thought. "

I chuckled. "They've come close. "

His brow rose suspiciously. "Hard to believe. "

I shrugged. " There's a team of mages and an enchantress. If they worked together. " I let the rest speak for itself.

Snake mouth frowned and pulled a small book from within his sleeve and made a couple scribbles, then put it away.

"Good to know," he said. Then for emphasis on the matter said it again, dragging out the words. "Anything else." He said with a tinge of hope.

I crossed my arms letting my answer speak for itself.

A snakely mouth curved into a smile.

"Initiates are here. " It spoke.

'Shit.'

"Shit."

I thought of the matter in slightly boiled up frustrated thoughts.

"Purpose? "

"They’ve been hunting. "

"Fucking Hyenas. "

"Fair statement. " Snake mouth said, cackling.

"Here. " He said, pulling out a Map from within his sleeve. "There's a couple routes, but the fastest are probably these ones. " he ran his finger over some highlighted lines.

"I'll spread the word among the squads. Let them know of the situation. Just do me a favor and try not to kill anybody in the meantime. I have a feeling the extra bodies will help us in the end."

I nodded and once again hands were clasped.

"Until then, snake mouth. "

"Until then...boss."

Then he was gone, backing away into the shade of a large tree before disappearing into the forest.

A drop of rain hit my brow as I looked into the sky. The water increased in pace from a drop to a drizzle that almost perfectly reflected my thoughts.

'I was almost there. '

'Almost.'
