Made It
Green fire matched billowing flame. Shifting ground sunk large sturdy legs. Confusion temporarily struck the creature as a hand landed center on its midsection. A blade fell from up high , landing with a solid shlik through a tiny red eye.
The creature fell still.
Another jumped up to take its place.
Like a smoothly oiled machine, they battled. Their only reprieve, when the death giving golems turned to deliver death giving blows on the unaware.
Somewhere along the way, Spider noticed the amount of cloaks had dropped considerably.
The number of golems, not so much.
"We need to rush now." He said above the noise of battle.
The green enchantress who introduced herself as a name he couldn't quite pronounce nodded.
"Push ahead! " She yelled.
Nella and Spider shared a look and with an unsaid agreement dashed forward.

They had made it halfway across the battlefield. Their agreement was finished.
Spider and Nella dashed right as the others went left. With quick steps they hurried under axe blows that split the ground and around spurting flame.
On occasion Nella would launch forward and punch one away, giving them breathing room.
The gate was close now. No less than forty paces.
Together they swam through the battle. Over and under. Under and Over.
20 paces.
They were rushed then. Six golems catapulting froward with all they had. In a few of their eyes Spider saw a pink glare and a zombie like gait.
'Well, he thought. That's why you don't trust mages. '
Instead of responding to the golems he reached within his cloak, and with a swift flick a dagger dashed through the air toward an enchantress.
It didn't hit it's target, but he saw the golem eyes break away from him, once again alight with crimson.
10 paces.
He scooped up Nella then, using a leg to trip her and catching her as she fell in exasperation.
" Clench your teeth. " He said.
Four golems fell upon them as he slid for all he was worth.
Just barely passing under death.
Spider looked at Nella still in his arms. Then looked back at the gate behind him.
