Chapter 6- Circle and Line
"Like this ," Spider said.
Arms hanging loosely he drew his sword. It rose slowly and lightly before his elbow snapped forward with an audible pop and his blade sunk through the air with a whoosh.
Roger watched agape. "I don't get it. "
Across from the crackling campfire they had sat up for the night, a laugh was heard.
"It's useless, trust me, Spider has no talent for the art of teaching. "
A wrinkle hit Spider's forehead and he sheathed his blade, he walked away and lay down on the warm grass and closed his eyes.
'He wasn't a fan of wasted time.'
Instead he fell into thought, swiping through the memories of the day with a couple metal flicks.
He made notes on his movements, reviewed his cuts, and pondered his quickness and strength.
Quite some time passed before he was satisfied by what he seen, but eventually he found it passable. Then he fell into a different set of thoughts.
Like how many people were still alive.
Coincidentally a voice emerged.
"Hey Spider, you said nothing interesting happened. Did that mean you didn't get anybody? "
Vienna's voice reached over him from her position at the back of the camp, her body facing outward as she stood gaurd.
Spider looked up as he recalled the number.
"Five. "
"Woah."
"That's not bad. "
"My spider for you. "

Spider just shrugged.
From his left he felt a presence approach and looked up to see Nella, she sat beside him, legs tilted to the side and hand patting her lap.
Spider obliged.
"Woahhhh." He heard Roger call from the side.
"You guys sure are close. "
Spider said nothing, choosing to acquaint himself further with thighs.
"Just watch out. " Roger Chimed in. " We could be ambushed."
"What are you tryna say ? " Came Vienna's voice from the side, offended.
She turned around. "You don't trust my nose? " She said angrily.
Her eyes looked at Roger with heat, until she saw Spiders sleeping face resting on Nellas lap.
"You guys sure are close. " She echoed.
She turned back to guard slowly, tossing back looks when she thought no one was aware.
Roger hung his head.
"Ahhhhh, I'm so jealous. "
Vienna mumbled. "If ya wanted a lap pillow ya should of asked. "
A head was raised with the quickness of a diving eagle.
"What was that? "
"Nothing." She mumbled.
Spider felt a lap jiggle as Nella laughed, then a finger make his way into his palm.
It made a small circle, then slowly dragged its way across his palm.
With eyes closed Spider heard a choke sound from across the way.
"You guys really are close."
Roger had been paying attention elsewhere and interjected with a questioning what.
"They've done a vow. "
"Naaaaa, which ones ." He asked skeptically
Spider imagined her copying the motion.
"I don't know that one. What does it mean? "
"...It's not used that often. It's kind of a dark one. "
Spider loss grip of the conversation then, as the warmth of crackling flame and cushion overwhelmed him.
As he drifted into the murky waters of sleep a dream rose to the surface. Darkness gave way to a low lit room filled to the brim with the bodies of the dead. Audible coughs and wheezes showed life somewhere within.
A girl covered in blood, laying victorious among a river of corpses.
He payed no mind to the bodies crunching beneath his feet as he walked to her. When he arrived he took her hand and lightly dragged his finger across her palm.
Then leaned in low and whispered the meaning in her ear.
"Till our throats are cut."
