Brittany stood on top of a large rock. The sun was shining brightly, and the wind blew gently against her skin.
"I am your new Leader." she started. "I am here to guide you through this dark and uncertain world. I've been thrown into the deep end of the pool. All I have are my instincts and my faith. I may have lost my way once or twice, but I promise to stay true to myself and to our Master."
Then she heard it. The sound started as a small whisper in her mind, and it started to grow. Soon, the noise became audible. It was like a chorus of voices, all speaking at once.
"Worship me!" they shouted in her mind. "Follow my will! Worship me!"
Brittany gasped and crouched down as she covered her ears. The sound in her mind wouldn't stop.
"What was that?" Serena asked.
"A voice from the Leviathan." Brittany explained. "It's asking me to worship him. To follow his every word. I don't know what to say."
"Relax." Serena told her. "This is normal. Respond back to the voice.”
Brittany trembled.
"I don't know what to say."
"Say whatever comes to mind. Don't worry about sounding stupid." Serena assured her. "Remember, you're not on Earth anymore. There are no limits here. You can do anything."
Brittany tried to calm down, then spoke.
"Master," she said. "I am your servant. I will obey you and your commands. Please guide me."
The voice stopped. Suddenly a vision opened up in her mind and she saw a swirling portal with an image of Earth in the middle of it. The vision zoomed out, and she found herself standing at the base of the familiar snow-covered Tower of Babel. She knew immediately what she needed to do.
Suddenly a familiar prompt appeared.
Buried within the legendary ruins of the Tower of Babel you will find an ancient portal to the Old World. Activate the portal, and you will receive a Legendary Class.
Do you wish to accept this quest?
Yes | No
Brittany grinned widely and pressed "Yes".
"Did you see something?" Serena asked.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Brittany nodded.
"Now go ahead and finish your speech." she insisted. "That's what you came here to do, isn't it?"
Brittany nodded.
"Yes," she said and stood again. "My name is Brittany, and I'm the new Coven Leader. As such, I need to share with you my vision for the future of our Coven. I will teach you to be strong and powerful. I will lead us on a glorious path of vengeance. I will help you reach your full potential, and I will send all those who oppose our Master to meet their demise.”
"I dedicate this land to the Leviathan." she continued. "And I charge most of you to march with me to the ancient remains of the Tower of Babel in his honor where we will transport to the New World. A select few of you will be charged to march to the City of Atlantis to reclaim our Temple. Secure it and guard it well. Keep it safe from harm. Even if you have to fight off the rebels, make sure you protect it at all costs. He will reward you for your efforts."
She took a deep breath and finished her speech.
When she was done, Serena clapped, and the Shadow Walkers cheered loudly.
"Very good." she complimented. "You did very well. Now, get yourself cleaned up and join us. I think you'll find it interesting."
"I'm glad you enjoyed the speech." she told Serena.
"It's easy to please a crowd." Serena replied. "We have a big day ahead of us. So, let's get to work."
Serena led her to the camp, where Raul was waiting for her.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I'm a little nervous." Brittany confessed.
"There's nothing to worry about." Raul reassured her. "All you need to do is trust me and follow my directions."
"Okay." she replied nervously. "Lead on."
They walked through the camp, and Brittany saw several people standing there. They were dressed in black robes, and they stared at her with intense eyes.
"These are some of our most powerful Shadow Walkers." Serena explained. "They have have committed to following you and serving you."
Suddenly the voices entered her mind again, but this time she welcomed them.
"Cultivate your inner beast!" she commanded, and the Shadow Walkers broke into applause.
"Excellent! You're already getting the hang of it." Serena congratulated her. "You'll be a natural at leading these people."
Brittany nodded.
"Just keep in mind that although they're loyal to you, they're also committed to the cause. You have to convince them to do what needs to be done. And you have to ensure that they stay focused and motivated. Otherwise, they might lose heart when faced with adversity. Remember that."
"I won't forget." Brittany said.
"Good." Serena encouraged her. "Keep working hard, and I'm confident that you'll do well."
After saying goodbye to Serena, Brittany walked over to Raul.
"So, what's the plan?" she inquired.
"I'm afraid we don't have much time." he cautioned her, "but I can give you a basic outline."
"Go ahead." she insisted.
He began, "Atlantis has fallen to the hands of the enemy. We can't afford to waste any more time. We need to secure the temple immediately and start rebuilding our forces. Then we need to bring in reinforcements from other regions. Once that's done, we'll launch a full-scale assault on the enemy base in Atlantis."
"I'm going to place Serena in charge of this assault." Brittany said, "The Leviathan has other plans for me however. I need to lead an expeditionary force to the northern lands, and I need you by my side."
Raul raised his eyebrows in surprise, "The Northern Lands? It's just a frozen tundra. What could possibly be there?"
"Hidden secrets." she remained vague, "We must find them."
"As you wish." he saluted, "Let's get started."
