From a patio table on the balcony of Timur’s Penthouse, Senator Davies smiled sinisterly as the screams of chaos echoed from the streets below. Sheets of blue lightning shot across the sky, emanating from a single point behind him. He watched the screen of Commander Arlington’s antiquated laptop in pleasure as thousands of tiny pinpoints of data lit up and then disappeared from the grid. From the browser bar, he made a quick search for ‘POTUS’. The grid zoomed in to an oval-shaped room inside a particularly famous white mansion where millions of tiny Nano-chips illuminated the silhouette of the most powerful man in the world.
He watched the pitiful man pace the room, anxiously awaiting further instructions from his Cabinet. Another silhouette approached the Oval Office, entering moments later. A quick search confirmed the second occupant was the Secretary of State.
The perfect witness.
With a few short keystrokes, the millions of microscopic Nano-chips swimming through the veins of the President lit up. With a crash of blue lighting, the south-facing windows of the Oval Office shattered. Just like that, the President of the United States of America was gone.
One down, only seventeen more to go to erode the line of succession.
He watched with glee as the silhouette of the Secretary of State bolted out of the room. The Nano-chips registered a heightened state of panic in his vitals.

Don’t worry. I’ll save you for last.
Several more silhouettes congregated around him as he shared the news of the President’s disappearance. Many others in the vicinity scattered in panic.
As he began to search for his next target, a strange cry echoed from behind him. Startled by the sound, he stared at the open glass door to the penthouse from where the sound had come. He drew his handgun from its holster and cautiously stepped closer.
Poised on the threshold, another sound met his ears. Whipping back around, what sounded like a chugging locomotive blasted from the sky above. Between the flashes of lightning he could make out a flying object rapidly approaching the tower. As the object drew nearer, his eyes widened in recognition.
He took aim, firing multiple rounds at the hideous beast as it roared. Its massive wingspan sent huge gusts of air at him, blowing him off of his feet. Having spent all his rounds, Senator Davies dropped the useless handgun. With a loud crash, the building trembled and the pavement shattered as the huge beast made a landing.
His life flashed before his eyes as the hideous dragon glared in his direction. Shackles and broken chains hung from her body.
The creature reared its head back and screeched a sound so unbearable, it ruptured his eardrums. A trickle of blood oozed from his ears. From behind him, an identical yet muffled screech issued from inside the penthouse.
The dragon lurched forward and swatted Senator Davies aside, smashing him through the sliding glass door. Senator Davies lay crumpled in a heap, wheezing for air from the lung that hadn’t collapsed from the blow. The pain was so excruciating that he wished for death to take him quickly.
