Chapter 695

Chapter 695:

Gordon’s voice crackled through her earpiece, his tone urgent. “Allison, I’ve disabled the security defenses on the ventilation system. See if you can access the duct.”

Glancing up, Allison noticed a vent in the ceiling. “I’ll give it a shot,” she replied.

Stripping off her bloodied lab coat, she winced as she adjusted her injured ribs, pain shooting through her side.

“How much longer until the defenses in the corridor are down?” she asked.

“About three more minutes,” Gordon responded.

“Not long enough,” she muttered under her breath.

If those defenses had stayed active a bit longer, Verruckt could have met his end here, turning the lab into chaos. It would have been the perfect opportunity for her to slip away unnoticed.

Hearing the bitterness in her voice, Gordon clenched his fists on the other end of the line, wishing he could crush Verruckt for the pain he’d caused Allison.noveldrama

“We’ll get our chance, Allison. One day, he’ll pay for everything.”

Allison agreed to that, but now, she had no time for vengeance. With a swift motion, she dragged the bed beneath the vent, climbed on top, and vaulted herself into the narrow duct. The clock was ticking, and if she didn’t get out fast, she’d be trapped for good.

Meanwhile, in the dimly lit corridor, Jareth quickly disabled the infrared alarms.

“Mr. Shaw, you’re hurt!” he exclaimed, shock flashing across his face. He hadn’t expected his boss to be here, much less injured by the lab’s own defense systems.

Verruckt’s eyes, glowing a fierce shade of crimson, blazed with fury. Unbothered by his injuries, he slammed his shoulder into the door with monstrous force.

Bang!

The door shattered, a third of it splintering away under his raw power.

Light spilled into the room, revealing it to be empty, save for a bloodstained lab coat discarded on the floor.

Jareth’s gaze snapped to the ceiling, where he spotted an open vent. His expression darkened as realization set in. “It looks like someone escaped through there,” he said.

“As long as she’s still in the lab, she won’t escape,” Verruckt growled, snatching up the discarded coat. “Seal off every exit. I want the woman with the shoulder injury found.”

He traced his fingers over the bloodstains on the fabric, his eyes narrowing with a strange, unreadable intensity. “Interesting. Let’s see just how far she believes she can run.”
