It was at this moment that Noelle asked from the inside, "Oliver, who's at the door?"
That voice gave Hendrix a definite answer-he had been right all along. This was indeed Noelle's place, and inside her home was another man.
Hendrix let out a sudden, cold laugh. Then, he turned and walked away without hesitation.
All the time she told him she loved him and asked if there was a possibility of them ever being together again-it was all a lie! After all, if she had truly been devoted to him, she would never have divorced him so decisively.
Moreover, if he remembered correctly, she had been secretly taking birth control pills before their divorce. Would a woman deeply in love with him do something like that? No, she wouldn't!
Her feelings were clearly something she could control with ease. But then, he shouldn't be surprised, because if it weren't for this ability of hers, how could she possibly thrive so effortlessly in Vinton City? He had already seen the video of her charming everyone at the wine party with ease, and if he wasn't so familiar with her face, he might have even doubted whether the woman in the video was the same Noelle he once knew.
But then, he quickly recalled that she had also thoroughly enjoyed herself at the masquerade ball. Perhaps that was her true nature all along, while she had merely put on a false pretense while living with him.
Hendrix didn't want to think any further. Instead, he stared expressionlessly at the driver and said, "Start the car.
His face was dark with anger, so the driver dared not ask him any question. Instead, he silently started the car and drove off.
A while later, Hendrix picked up his phone and called Dan. From now on, there's no need to give me updates about Noelle. Also, go ahead and terminate the lease for the apartment at Galaxy Grove." Once he finished speaking, he hung up the phone abruptly.
Meanwhile, Oliver closed the door but still felt a bit dazed. He was sure he had seen Hendrix somewhere before, but for the life of him, he couldn't remember where.
"Oliver?" Noelle called out to him again, pulling him from is thoughts. He quickly turned and walked into the
room.
She was lying in bed and gazing at him weakly. "What were you doing out there?"
"There was someone at the door just now, so I went to see who it was.
"Was it a delivery?"noveldrama
like that."
"No, it was a really handsome guy. He was kind of strange, though-didn't say who he was and just left like Oliver frowned. "And I swear he looked familiar, like I've seen him somewhere before. But I can't remember where.'
"Well, can you at least get me a glass of water first?" asked Noelle helplessly.
Oliver finally remembered she had asked him to get her a glass of water, so he quickly turned to pour her glass.
"Ms. Swanson, if it's too much for you to bear, maybe we should go to the hospital? I mean, from the looks of it, you're really sick."
"No. I'll be fine after a good night's rest. You can go back now," Noelle replied after sipping a few mouthfuls of water and taking her medicine.
"How about I stay to take care of you?"
"What about your girlfriend? Won't she be upset?"
Oliver fell silent and scratched his head in embarrassment.
Noelle closed her eyes. "Don't worry. I'll be okay. You should go back now."
"What about tomorrow's meeting?"
"Proceed as usual. Come over to pick me up tomorrow, and if I don't answer your calls, just come up and find me."
"Alright. I guess I'll head back home now."
Not even bothering to open her eyes, Noelle simply gave a soft hum as an acknowledgment.
As the sound of the door closing echoed through the room, she turned over and pulled the blanket tighter
around. her. Instantly, the sense of security she had grown so familiar with washed over her.
