"Ms. Swanson, bad news!"
The call came in while Noelle was packing up her things at the hotel. The script had been mostly revised, and Noelle was preparing to go home with Rosie.
Although they had only stayed at the hotel for two months, they had accumulated quite a lot of stuff. Noelle was even planning to hire a moving truck to help transport everything.
Thus, Noelle was a little confused when she received the call. "What happened?"
"Didn't you see the news?"
"What news?"
"Do you know a woman called Summer Vega?"
Noelle was still as confused as ever.
The person on the other end didn't give her any more time and went straight to the point.
"Check the news right away! She said she used to be under the same company as you. According to her, 'Morning Mist' was originally her work, but the editor passed her outline to you to promote you before terminating her contract.
"This news has already blown up, so hurry and check it online!" the caller spoke quickly, barely giving Noelle any time to react before hanging up.noveldrama
Left with no choice, Noelle mechanically picked up her phone.
Sure enough, there was already a trending topic about her.
"I've been saying all along that she's just a pretty face. The only reason her fans are stanning her so hard is because of her looks."
"All this talk about what a beautiful and talented comic artist she is is just a hype!"
"How shameless of her to even have to plagiarize such a trashy work!"
"I heard she has a sugar daddy backing her!"
"Moreover, that shameless cougar is always flirting with male actors on set."
There were plenty more vile comments like that.
Noelle's expression grew increasingly grim as she read them.
Rosie had been sitting on the side, packing up her toys. After finishing, she turned around and noticed Noelle sitting there, unmoving. Finding it out, she called out to her, "Mommy?"
The voice snapped Noelle out of her thoughts. She turned suddenly to look at Rosie, but before she could say anything, her phone rang again.
It was from her company.
The situation had escalated quickly, resulting in filming for the day being suspended.
It was a big-budget production to begin with, and they had been working overtime for the past two months
to shorten the schedule and save costs. But now, with everything halted because of her, the
consequences were
obvious.
"The production company is pressing us for an explanation So, tell me just what the heck is going on?" "I don't know," Noelle replied with a frown. "I don't know who this Summer Vega is, nor have I ever plagiarized her work."
"I've already asked Evelyn. Summer was indeed one of her contracted artists, but they terminated her contract a while ago. She did submit some manuscripts back then, and one of them does resemble your story's framework. "Also, the submission date was pretty close to your release date. Do you have any earlier drafts saved? If we can prove that, then..."
Noelle stayed silent, and it was enough of an answer for the caller.
He cursed a few times before continuing, "In any case, stay at the hotel for now. This isn't just about the plagiarism accusation-fans of Ebony are targeting you, too. So, there's a high chance they're behind this whole thing.
Noelle frowned tightly. "Why? It won't benefit Ebony either if anything happens to this project."
&
"They were unhappy with Ebony taking on another soap opera. In any case, his fans are involved in this
matter, which makes it more complicated. Just stay at the hotel for now, and we'll focus on finding evidence to prove you didn't plagiarize Summer."
Ch do I?"
