After double checking that the fire wasn't going to spread down the seal, the team was ready to venture into the undergrounds of Silesia. Undergrounds themselves were pretty big and made of stone, which made the air cold and refreshing.
- Is it me, or is the above really calm? I would expect a chase or something- Samukai said while leading the team.
- We won't have to worry about Silesia anymore. I made sure of that- the demon replied with pride in his words.
- Do they pay you for destroying villages and towns?
- Wait, I can get paid for that? I must tell lord Lucifer about that idea
Warrior could only sigh and continue his march. Soon he heard the sound of flowing water. The stone corridor now was cut with water. Hopefully for the Chaos, there was still a road to walk by the side of the water.
- Now, do we go with the flow or against it?- warrior asked.
- I would have said that we should go against it, since I think that if we go with it, we will find an exit. The one problem is that we don't know anything about this place or what might inhabit it, so it is not the best idea to go in blind- Noktum said while scratching his left horn, trying to think of a solution.
- So, going there we will get out and there we might find something? There is barely an option- Phantom said as he started slithering in the direction opposite to the flow. Soon the rest of Chaos followed him. After a few minutes of the march, water started to divide into smaller "rivers". The one in the middle was formed like a ring. It encircled something that looked like a dome.
- What do you think about this?- warrior asked.
- I'll show you- the demon answered as he prepared abbadon. Samukai quickly ducked under the spell.
- Could you not?
Demon was too busy checking the hole he made to answer the samurai.
- This looks interesting- he said as he went inside the dome.
The insides of the dome looked like an area of some sort. Perfectly gouged stone walls, one pillar in the middle that kept the building in one place.
Rest of the team soon stood beside the demon and looked in awe at the dome.
- It's almost like an area- Noktum observed.
- Yes, and it gives me an idea- Phantom said while scratching his chin- you remember how I told you that I will make a soldier out of you?
Noktum and Samukai nodded, not knowing what the demon could think of.
- I think that this will be a good place to start training- Phantasm said with a devious smirk on his face.
- And what do you have in mind exactly?- warrior asked, hoping that the demon would think of something reasonable.
A fireball appeared in Phantom's hand. Samukai has already made guesses about what the training may be.
- Let's see how long you can dodge those fireballs. Now get close to the pillar, so we can officially start
Noktum and Samukai did as he said and were now waiting for the demon to start throwing fireballs at them.
- Fenfir ain't coming?- Noktum asked, ready to cast a barricade.
- He isn't one to dodge, rather to take a hit, so he won't join you. Now lets see who will stand last- after saying that, Phantom started throwing fireballs like a madman.
Noktum casted a barricade, making a safe place for himself. He could only hope that it wouldn't break too soon.
Samurai on the other hand had a harder time with the training. He was running all around the dome, dodging everything that was thrown at him. Some of the projectiles he barely dodged, but due to the lack of his normal body, he was much more agile than when he was alive.
Warrior quickly ran to the magician, knocking on the barricade.
- Can you let me in?
Noktum scratched his horns for a while and then said:
- While I could bring down this barricade to erect a new one that could shelter us both, I don't want to risk being hit by a fireball, so no I guess?- two fireballs hit the shelter, startling the shadow a little.
- Hey! Stop for a while!- samurai shouted at the demon, waving his hands trying to catch his attention.
- What now?- demon asked, slightly annoyed.
- How about a little deal?
- I'm interested. So what is it going to be?
- If we do good, you will tell us something about yourself. I mean, we barely know anything, other than you once had a team
Demon took a deep sigh and said:
- Fine, but I'm already telling you that this training will be split into few parts and you have to do at least good in all of them. Do you understand- Phantom said with a slightly angered tone. Warrior decided to simply nod his head and not push the demon's patience any more during this training. It still seemed weird to him, that demon was so stubborn about not telling anything about his past.
And like that, the agility training continued until Phantom decided that it might be a good time to change.
Now instead of fireballs, abbadons started their show. For a moment the inside of the dome looked like it was full of red spider web. The only good thing about it was that, due to it being related to the attribute of darkness, it would cause no major harm to the rest of the team.
The dome on the other hand didn't take it too well and what once looked like it was built just a day ago was now something that could collapse at any moment.
- You sure it's safe to train here now?- Samukai asked, ducking under the red beam.
- Seems good to me- Phantom said as he gave himself a little break for his magic aura to regenerate.
The rest of the Chaos also took the opportunity for a quick rest and followed the Fenfir in doing. All of them either sat down or laid on the ground, glad of the break time that was given to them.
- Not gonna lie, I expected you to already lie there exhausted and yet it seems like you still can go on- demon complimented his teammates.
- Believe me, I also don't know how I endured this much- Samukai said slightly chuckling, while slowly standing up.
- Now, lets go to further part- demon then whistled, calling the hell hound to come to him- come, join them
Hound did as he was told and was now sitting right next to the rest of Chaos.
- What now?- warrior asked.
Demon summoned his scythe and said:
- Something simple. Lets see for how long you all will held a battle with me
Everyone looked at him as if he was a madman.
- You are joking, right? We? Against you? I already died and I do not want to go through that again
- Leader I must agree with Samukai, while we might be strong, we are nowhere on the level you are
- Worry not, I can give you some time to come up with a strategy or something.
Samukai and Noktum, not wanting to waste time, already formed a circle and were trying to think what they might do.
- First of all, Fenfir will have to act like a wall. He has the thickest skin of us all after all. I might try to distract him, to give you time to pull off some spells- warrior said in a hushed tone.
- Trap of the desert tomb might be useful, but I'm not sure how many abbadons it might endure. One thing that should turn the tides is your shadow arts, sneaks attacks are always good to use, especially against a strong foe
- Couldn't agree more, by the way, you don't have any spells of light or holy attribute?
- I'm not able to even use them
- So any other weakness he might have?
- I will check them with an Eye of Horus
Demon was already growing impatient with how long they took to get ready and shouted:
- I'm giving you a few more seconds! After that I'm going black comet on you!
Samurai looked at the shadow to see if he was ready. Noktum with confidence in his eye nodded his head, and the warrior charged at the demon.
At first he dual wielded, slashing and stabbing the demon's wings that were once again used as a shield. Warrior then summoned his shadow clones and all of them encircled Phantom.
- Just like the last time?- demon asked with a smirk forming on his face.
- Believe me, this time it will go different- Samukai replied as he started doing the same attack that was used on the dragons. His clones started doing the same, and soon the demon was covered in cuts.
In meantime Noktum summoned Eye of Horus to see if their leader’s elemental aura had any other elemental weaknesses.
The entire area became gray and the only thing in color was now Phantom that stood in the middle of bluish flame. That flame easily reached the top of the dome. Noktum couldn't believe that after casting that many eight tier spells someone could still have so much magic aura left. But what mattered now were nine spheres that circled around the demon. Each one of them represented an attribute, and magician specifically looked for weakness. It didn't take him long when he noticed that light blue sphere was glowing hard, while it wasn't as bright as the really light yellow or maybe even white sphere, it still should do.
- Let your bones feel the chilling power of frost, Rain of Tundra!
Many ice spear-like looking projectiles started forming around the Phantom. Samukai noticed that and quickly ran off, now standing close to the giant wolf that waited for an opportunity to attack.
Phantom did nothing to stop the spell, as if he wasn't worried about the damage it could do. When ice spears lunged at him, he seemed to not feel a thing. Either that or he was good at not showing that he felt a hit.
- Is that the best you got for my weaknesses?- demon said while taking out some spears from his body.
- You know, those spikes suit you- Samukai said, not letting his guard down.
Demon smirked and summoned a new sign that none of his teammates saw before. I looked like a white abbadon, the only difference was that the star had four arms and not five.
Rest of Chaos took defensive stances, not knowing what to expect from that spell.
Phantom then casted the abbadon, but the spell instead of gathering energy and shooting like usual, fused with the circle, now making it much bigger than before. Samurai was sure that abbadon was now more or less his size. When the circle started spinning, the warrior realized what would happen in a few seconds and immediately casted arts of shadow theater on everyone to dodge the incoming monster of a spell.
Just as the beam shot out from the circle, Chaos hid themselves in the shadows seeing only red. The beam itself was massive, it could easily cover Fenfir. The damage it did was also spectacular. The pillar that was supposed to hold the dome in one piece was now only in half, completely lacking the left side, and another hole was made in the wall.
After the spell ended, everyone emerged from the shadows and Samukai was the first to talk:
- WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT!
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
- Just an abbadon with circle called the Heart of the Star
- Just! JUST! Do you mean that it can go even bigger or something?
- If I had a better access to stronger circles for projectile and beam spells, then yes
- Don't you have enough power already?- warrior said, shaking a little, thinking of what the demon could be able to do in the future.
- Now, lets resume our training
Demon immediately casted the triple dragon chains of flame at the magician. Noktum created a barrier that shattered upon the contact, but protected him from being hit.
Hell hound used that opportunity and leaped at the Phantom, pinning him to the ground. Fenfir tried to bite the demon, but he responded with the bone cracking impact and sent the poor wolf flying across the room.
Samukai then started attacking the demon, cutting and slicing him open. Phantasm tried to hit him with the eruption, but the warrior quickly dodged the incoming attack and responded with his own magic.
Samurai drawn the Izanagi and said:
- I call upon the might of the ancients, the Blade of Seiryu!- Izanagi was now turquoise instead of black and much longer. Samurai rushed at the demon, with the blade in both hands.
Phantom casted the abbadon to blast the warrior away. He succeeded, but not before Samukai was able to do the vertical strike and cut off the demon's right wing.
Demon was quite shocked that they were able to damage him so much and even cut off a wing. Either they were better than he thought or he was getting out of shape. And yet he felt a little proud of his team. Maybe they will be able to achieve something.
Warrior got up and tried to cut off the other wing, but Phantom casted bone cracking sphere and knocked out the samurai.
Now Noktum was leading the offensive as he was firing the beams of frost at his leader, making his body cover in hoarfrost.
Phantasm counter attacked with greater fireball, yet Fenfir steeped in front of the magician, shielding him with his own body. A dark energy was gathering around the demon and Noktum casted another barrier.
- Waves of the Abyss- after those words three powerful waves of pure darkness shoot out form the mass that gathered around him and broke the defense of the shadow.
Fenfir was slammed into the pillar and Noktum landed near the Samukai.
Demon gave them some time to recover and said:
- Truly, I didn't expect you to be this good. It looks like there is hope for you and you will definitely be at least decent soldiers- he smirked, but it wasn't his typical mocking smirk, but a genuine one.
- I'm glad to hear that, but before you do anything else, give us a while to recover. Then we should check out that hole you made
- Sure- demon said as he grabbed his wing. Soon the wing was in its place.
You took training them into soldiers really seriously, didn't you? Pharaoh's voice once again echoed in his mind.
I actually wondered when you would speak again. Also when were you doing in the meantime?
I was enjoying the amount of chaos that you generated in Silesia. And now because of your training there is more! If this will continue I might be able to help you really soon
I only hope that you remember that you have to grant me this power when you will finally be here
Worry not, I always keep my promises
After saying those words, the voice of the Pharaoh silenced again.
- So let's check that hole- samurai announced as he was walking toward the new "entrance" that the demon had made.
Rest of Chaos quickly joined him and were quite shocked by what they saw.
The hole led to undergrounds similar to those under the stronghold. Those same dirty yellow walls, dark corridors and feelings of both excitement and uncertainty. Those corridors led to the same temple that they came from or did they lead to a new one. And if so were they ready to face another elemental.
- Hand me those crystals- Phantom demanded opening his hand.
Noktum handed the artifacts to the demon. At first it seemed like crystals stuck to each other and didn't care about anything else in the world. But after a while, they have slightly tilted to the entrance. It soon became clear that Chaos might once again cross paths with the kings.
- I would suggest that we search for the room with that Exodus and rest there, of course if it will be close to the temple like the last time. And then our reward for the training- warrior said, entering the corridor
- I can't believe that I agreed to that- Phantom sighed as he and the rest of the team followed the samurai.
It was the same gigantic maze like the last time. The problem with this location was that keeping the track of time here seemed to not be possible. They could've been walking for hours or just simply a few minutes, but because there was little to none change in surroundings it was hard even to tell how far they were from anything. In front of them was pitch black as it was behind them.
- I want to know who built this! Who had this brilliant idea to make such a long maze with no light what so ever! I mean how fucking stupid do you need to be to even think that this is a good idea! I've seen imps that could do better! IMPS!
- You are irritated, we get that- Samukai said, slightly tired by Phantom's complaining.
- But a change of surroundings would be pleasing to both eye and mind- Noktum stated, keeping the flame that made the trip a little more bearable.
After a longer while, Chaos found themselves before an entrance to a rather large room. Noktum increased the size of the flame, to illuminate the darkness that might've hidden something important.
At the first glance the room looked more like a dead end, but close to one of the walls was a pedestal with a weird carving in the middle of it. The pedestal itself looked like it was about to break down, as the rest of those undergrounds were rather well preserved. This one thing was full of cracks, just like somebody tested a hammer on the pedestal.
- Should we put something there?- Samukai wondered.
- I swear, if we will have to find another room with a right thing to put there, this place is going to have many new entrances
Meanwhile magician studied the shape, then he pulled out the crystals. Noktum carefully put the red one in the carving. The black one immediately let go as if the red one wasn't even there.
At first all the crystal did was shake a little, but when the room filled with a red light, shadow knew that something either went great or horribly wrong. He had hopes for the first option, yet the luck of this team almost begged for something strong and ancient to just pop out at any moment.
- What did you do?- warrior asked with blades ready to combat.
- I myself would like to know
The pedestal lowered itself in the ground and all behind it had now glowing red, veins like patterns on it. It flashed a blinding glow and soon the wall was nowhere to be seen.
- Would someone like to tell me what just happened?
- It was similar to the arts of illusions, and yet it felt somehow different
- And I was hoping for some guardian. I mean you don't make a secret passage without someone to guard it
- It isn't really secret if it is guarded, you know? Especially if the guardian something more than a normal human- samurai pointed out.
- There is some truth to it- shadow agreed as he went to take the crystal from the pedestal.
The room that was hidden behind the illusion was exactly the same as the one they accidentally found. Even the statue of the Exodus stood in the same place.
Team immediately started searching for anything worth looking at and maybe even take on the journey. One of the few things that caught the attention of Chaos was another stone plaque.
- What does this one say?- Samukai asked, filled with curiosity.
- It raised it's hand and said, I bring thou a fire to scorch the sacrifices in temple of my, and fire appeared and scorched that, what earth has birthed
- I still don't understand what this is about
- I think that they might be about that Exodus
- Maybe or maybe not. As for now this just a wild guess
- Maybe not so wild after all- Phantom called to the rest of the team.
Demon stood before another painting. This time it showed Exodus and people bowing before him.
- Bows and praises be made, thou shall fear not his wrath, but his apathy. Have no fear of what he shall do, but dread of what he may allow to be done unto you- Phantom carefully ran his hand over the carved words- That's all I can read. Rest is completely unreadable
- So was he an angel or some deity?
- Probably finding more of these rooms will tell us more. Of course if there are more
- Maybe, but now it's time for him to fulfill his promise- warrior said as he pointed at the Phantom.
- So what do you want to know?- demon took a deep sigh.
- Anything that we can
- You keep saying "we", but for all I see it's only you
- Well, to be true I also am curious about you and your past leader
- See? It's two to on
- If I remember correctly, you've mentioned that something wasn't a problem to Lilith in the past. Could you explain what you meant?
- That's all you want to know?
- No, actually there is more, but we need to start with something. Either that or what was that " After all it's your fault that we are what you see now" all about
- You know what? I think that you deserve to know why Lilith and kinds like her are utter shit stains- and venomous tone returned once again. Warrior now thought that maybe bringing Lilith so soon in their conversation was a bad idea.
- But first, let me ask you something. Do you know how Lilith came to be?
Chaos could only shake their heads at that question.
- Well then, you should know that she wasn't even a demon to begin with! This whore was just a simple human!
- Wait. If she was a human, then how is she a demon? Last time I checked you either become one after being cursed, or end like me. I am not a demon, am I?- the last question seemed to be addressed to the warrior himself rather than to the rest.
- That's actually lord Belial doing, but that is for later. Now let me get to the point. Humans know that we are better than them and thus want to keep us down in Hell where we can't reach them
- Okay, but what does this have to do with Lilith? I don't see a connection. Do you, Noktum?
- Maybe, I think... No, I'm lost
Phantom took a deep sight.
- She was sent to Hell to make future generations weaker! Her breed is pathetic! It can easily be fend off by humans! And sadly we all took the bait
- So let me get this straight. You really think that the only reason Lilith was sent to Hell, was to breed with demons to make them weaker? Look, I am not saying that you are delusional, but if you told someone the definition of delusional, they'd have had you in mind
- You don't believe me? Fine, but just take a look at succubi and incubi. Tell me now that I'm wrong!
- We should stop there, now we only want to know what she meant by that sentence
- When I said that we all took bait, I might've also meant me- Phantom's voice was a little quieter than usual as if he was ashamed to admit that he too did wrong.
- Huh, I didn't expect that. Anyway, how you meet. I don't think that you just went to her and greeted her with open arms, did you?
- Truly, I didn't even know that there was a new face in Hell until a certain event- the demon then recalled how he and Lilith first met. If he had to admit, it was kinda embarrassing.
It was when he still learned sorceries under Lord Beelzebub's wings. This happened just after he had learned his first fifth tier spell. He was so confident in his abilities, that he thought that taking on four other demons at the same time wouldn't be difficult. All he needed to do was find someone who would want to battle against him. And thus he stood against Forneus, Aamon, Dantalion and the strongest of this group, Eligor. A fight between them went as unfair as one could imagine, and soon the purple snake was laying in a pool of his own blood.
The rest of the demons quickly returned to what they were doing before Phantom dragged them into this, but Eligor stayed and looked down at the spellcaster as if he was looking at a pest.
- And you think that you can be a true warrior? Don't make me laugh, your puny magic couldn't even get a scratch on me. Next time try going against someone on your level
Phantom murmured something, yet Eligor couldn't make out what it was.
- You're sayin' something dog?
- Go fall from your mount and die asshole
- You are lucky that lord Beelzebub is teaching you, otherwise I wouldn't hold back- after saying that, Eligor ordered his mount to walk away from the beaten demon. While he was slowly regenerating himself, a new figure was slowly approaching him.
- Do you need help?- a new feminine voice asked.
- Do I look like I need one!
- There is a lot of black...blood?
Phantom then tilted his head a little to have a better look at the demon, and was surprised by the appearance of this stranger. She looked completely human, her skin pale as ash.
- Who are you?- Phantasm asked as his wounds were slowly closing- I don't remember seeing you here?
- I'm Lilith- she then noticed the wound on the demon's chest- that seems nasty. Let me help you
Phantom couldn't believe what he had just heard. This new demon was more than eager to help a complete stranger that she had met only a moment ago. Yet a more interesting thing about her was that she didn't have the remaining of the angel's aura, so how did she end up in Hell?
Caster was taken away from his thoughts when he felt a soothing warmth of the healing spell. Demon shot out a little surge of fire, startling Lilith.
- What was that about?- she asked, preparing another healing spell.
- I don't need any healing magic, so fuck off
- Hey! There is no need to be rude when someone is trying to help you!
- When have I asked for help- Phantom was growing slightly irritated by Lilith's behavior.
Yet his protest fell silent as healing magic once again filled him with pleasant feeling.
Soon his wounds were completely closed and the demon rose up. He was towering over Lilith for a good meter.
- See? Was being all grumpy necessary?- she asked with a small smile growing on her face- so what's your name?
- I am the great spellcaster Phantasm
- You must be important here if that's how they call you- Lilith said with a slight excitement.
Demon beamed at her response, but remained silent.
- I'm sorry if that might be a lot to ask, but someone called Belial said to me that I should meet with Lucifer. Can you show me he might be
- I was actually going to return to him, so just walk behind me. After all not many get the chance to accompany me during the meetings with our Lord
And so Phantom and Lilith walked to the last circle of Hell. During that the female demon got to know the spellcaster a little better. Most of it was him talking about many great battles that he had. Succubus listened to these stories in awe.
Phantom thought that it was nice that anyone actually bothered to listen to him without any complaints and Lilith hoped that he and more residents of Hell would accept her as their own. She with curiosity awaited what the future might bring.
- And that's like how I first meet her
- So you got your own ass handed to you and she helped you?- warrior asked.
- Did you just focus on me losing a fight!?
- No, no. It just kinda hard to imagine
Demon grunted in response.
- But is that all? I mean, when we met her there seemed to be something more between you. Don't you think Noktum?
- I guess?
- You all know that curiosity is the first step to Hell?- Phantom said as he gave the samurai something that could've been called a death glare.
- I basically live down there, so what's the matter?
- I'm going to tell you more as you keep getting better- demon sighed. Yet a small smirk, unnoticed by his teammates, appeared on his face.
- Fine by me
Phantom stood up and said:
- We shall get going. I think there is still a long road ahead of us in this labyrinth. And beside, we have another elemental's ass to kick
- Please don't remind me of those things again. They are insane!- Samukai stated as he started leading the way.
- At least we have the clue that the major weakness may not be the key- Noktum said joining with Fenfir, as the hound growled at the reminder of the guardians of the crystals.
- Well then, let's get another crystal- Phantasm chuckled a little.
