“Okay, that isn’t that bad, happy to have the extra levels. I guess I’ll just put the point in the physical stats. No reason to think too much when I have exactly four points to assign.”

“Great, can I now just go to sleep guys?”
“Sure Sam, happy to help.”
With that taken care of, most of the others were about to let her go. Just knowing that she wouldn’t forget was enough for them. What someone did with their stats and skills was none of their business. Lufir though, had other ideas.
“Where did you put your statpoints?”
“Uhm.” Sam didn’t really know what to say, and before she could order her thoughts Lufir continued.
“You should consider getting a good base for your stats before you focus on your main ones. You did get them all to ten before you started to specialize, right?”
“Well, I did get most of them there. Only Cha is lagging at five.”
“Wow, I don't even know what to say. You should really get that one up as well. My father told me that a good foundation would prove itself in later levels. It will slow you down in the beginning, but later on it can save your life.”

“I kinda did that with my other stats before I started to prioritize my physical stats. This one just didn’t seem that important.”
“Every stat is there for a reason. Even if you don’t plan to become a politician or something like that, you would still get some use out of it. There are also some synergies between stats, but I’m not really sure what those are exactly.”
“Okay, I’ll make sure to get it to ten as well.”
“You might want to consider getting all of your stats to a basis of twenty five eventually. That should be enough for you to focus on other stats till one hundred or so. After that you should get everything to fifty, before you go to two hundred and fifty with your main stats. At least that’s what my father used to say.”
“Yeah, well I’m not that flush with statpoints. I’ll consider it after I get my main stats above thirty or so.”
“Great! Then we can now go on with our plan for tomorrow.”
Lufir looked at the others before he continued.
“These voidcats are really a pain to kill, but they are good training. How about we start looking for them?”
“No way, those things are scary.” Xanthe wasn’t too thrilled to search for the cats.
“Yeah, and I don’t think that it would even be useful to look for them, Lufir. It’s more likely that they will find us. Every time we walk around in that forest, we find some of the beasts.” Jasper clearly didn’t want to find more than he needed. His arrows didn’t do all that much against the cats.
“You’re right! Instead of looking for the cats, we should find their den.” After he said that, Lufir thought for a moment, “you know, those cats could also come from a dungeon now that I think about it. It could be that there is a new dungeon somewhere near that’s having a dungeon break. We should definitely look for it!”
“As much as I don’t like the idea of fighting more cats, I think you’re right. An unmonitored dungeon could be a big problem for the region. Even if it’s a small one. And if the cats are from a dungeon, then it might have a darkness affinity. That could be a real problem.”
Soon the squad was done with their planning and they all went to bed. They all knew that the next day would be another tough one.
The next morning Sam was the first one up. With them all being as busy as they had been the last few days, she had neglected to visit Kyla at the library. With her being up this early, she finally had the time to do so.
When she arrived at the library though, Kyla wasn’t there. Some other librarian was sitting at the desk where Kyla normally sat.
“Excuse me, what happened to Kyla?”
“Well nothing, child.” The old man answered, “Kyla is the one who has the second shift. I have the first shift, as I’m not that young anymore. She should be here later today, but maybe I can help you?”
“Well, I’m not sure. Kyla was helping me with some information that I might lack, seeing as I’m not exactly from around here. I don’t even know what I’m looking for, but I thought I should come by.”
“How about you tell me what you’re doing these days, then I can tell you if I know something that would be helpful.”
“Sure, okay, I can do that.”
