First Day IV

~~Marvin POV~~

"How could you not tell me your name, it's literally the first thing you do when introducing yourself" Lisa was still complaining about me not letting her know my name. 'Honestly, it's your fault for not asking' I thought as we made our way to lunch.

The interaction with Mr. T was quite awkward, Lisa ended up rambling out a variety of names, something Mr. T found quite hilarious. Luckily for Lisa, he ended up leaving our group a bit after but not before giving her the title of Rambler.

"Well, we did never ask what his name was" Caleb came to my defense earning himself a glare from Lisa. We were currently making our way to our next class, Biology, we had taken a look at each other schedules during class, well more like Lisa took Caleb's and I's schedule.

'Why am I still walking with you guys' I thought to myself, I needed to find a way for myself to leave these guys, I don't even know how we ended up walking together to class. I had tried to make sure that I was the last to leave class like last time, but Caleb and Lisa also stayed, then Caleb had the bright idea for us to walk to class together.

We got into our biology class, and the room was exactly what you would expect from meeting a crazed scientist. There were animal posters all over the wall, towards the back of the class were glass containers, I couldn't tell what was inside each case as plants covered the insides of each one.

"Looks like a crazed science lab, like some Mrs Frizzle shit," Caleb said, looking around the class. Hopefully, the teacher Mrs. Levy isn't like Mrs. Frizzle, 'that woman put children's lives in danger to supposedly educate them, she should've gotten her teaching license taken long ago' We took a seat at one of the lab desks, like usual it was farther in the back, tucked away into the corner of the class, we were a good distance from the other soon-to-come students. "Why so far from everyone else" Caleb wasn't so happy with our seating choice but Lisa and I just ignored his complaints.

More students came into class, they were coming in groups, it seemed most people knew one another in this class. Among the groups of people that come into class, I recognized one of them, It was Brooklyn.

We made eye contact with one another, but she quickly broke it off, laughing and returning to the conversation with her friends. 'ignoring one another is chill with me' Hopefully things continued this way, there was no reason for us to broaden our relationship.

Some more students piled in and then Mrs Levy made her appearance. She was a short lady with a white lab coat, khaki pants, and brown shoes. "Hello guys, welcome to Biology. I'm Chrislie Levy and I'll be your teacher this year" She began her introduction presentation.

I didn't give it much attention, it seemed that all the presentations followed the outline, 'Talk about your early life, college, kids, and now current life' It was starting to get boring and predictable now. 'We're gonna do an introduction assignment as well'As I expected Mrs. Levy had us do an introduction assignment, she had us do a similar assignment to Mrs. Johnson,e except instead of random facts and drawings, she had us draw our favorite organisms. I didn't have to think much about this, I began drawing the outline of a dog.

"You understand that she said, an organism, a living being," Lisa said as she looked at my drawing, she spoke in her usual condescending tone. 'It doesn't look that bad' I thought to myself, I mean you could make out the ears, eyes, and tails, it looked like a dog.

"Yeah dude, Lisa's right, I don't know what that it is but it doesn't look like anything I've heard off on earth" Caleb put in his two cents about my drawing. I simply ignored both of them, they knew nothing about art anyway, their organisms weren't anything spectacular.

Time passed away, and after finishing and turning in my drawing I laid my head down to take another nap. Unfortunately, my seat partners had other plans, Lisa who I had assumed to be a quiet person like me couldn't stop talking to save her life.

They spent the entire rest of class arguing over pointless topics, 'Who fucking cares whether about if a dress is blue or gold. It's pointless' Their constant chatter was very annoying, so I was quite happy when the bell rang and released us to go have lunch.

I even broke my last-to-leave rule and got out of the class with the majority of students, it was quite refreshing to leave those two and their arguments. I followed the crowd of students to the cafeteria, we passed through the main hall and entered a massive space.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

There were multiple serving lines, serving a variety of foods, we had tacos, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and plenty more. I knew this was a rich school but the amount of stuff they had in just this cafeteria was insane.

They had a fucking lounge area, with couches and couch pillows. 'Why the fuck does a student need this' I decided to not sit on the couches, I imagined that various liquids and solids have been spilled onto them, 'doesn't matter how rich, a school's still a nasty school'

I had a seat at one of the tables, pulling out my lunch- spaghetti and meatball, I started chowing down. Joel had done fantastic work on this, I don't know how one can make spaghetti sauce taste like godly nectar, but somehow Joel's chef skills have done it again. Unfortunately, my lunch was ruined by the next two words "Black eyes" The annoying condescending voice was sharp and apparent over the chatter going on in the cafeteria. Lisa came over to my table, along with Caleb, I could already feel the arguments coming on.

"Black eyes, that's a bit racist," Caleb said as he took a seat, 'You just sat' I had a mental sigh as the both of them got into an argument over what constitutes racism and what isn't, the argument then switched to whether a famous popstar was a bitch or just being a normal person. I don't know how they did it, but they had managed to spend an entire forty minutes pointlessly talking.

The bell could not come at a faster time, I quickly packed up my food and made a swift escape from the two debaters but a feeling in the back of my head told me that I would be stuck with them for an unfortunately long amount of time.

My next class was Human Geography taught by Mr. Richard Lee. He quaint old man, wearing a tweed jacket with patches on the elbows, a patterned wool vest, and a neatly pressed shirt with a bow tie. He had on baggy pants that were held up by suspenders, and he topped off his outfit with scuffed leather shoes.

He simply welcomed students into the class and handed us a syllabus, detailing how he was planning for our time in the class to go. After that, he left us students to our devices, some students moved around to get with their friends and talk, but the majority of us just remained silent and kept to ourselves. It was turning out to be my favorite class of the day.

I wish I could've stayed longer in the class, but unfortunately, the bell sounded, releasing me to my next period which was 'Study Hall'. Another class where I could simply relax and stay to myself, I was quite excited about it.

Approaching the class, I could see a line leading out of the doorway. It seems that there was something at the door slowing down people as they entered. Getting to the entrance of the class I met the teacher of the class.

"Oooh" Those were her first words as she saw me, she quickly collected herself though. "Hi there, I'm Ms. Dorothy. Have a number" She handed me a sticky note with the number twenty-one on it. "Go on in, and find the spot with your number on it"

Going into the class, I saw large tables, with sticky notes on them with numbers on them. It didn't take long for me to find the sticky note with my number on it, It was on the other side of the room, the only problem with it was that it was right next to the teacher's table and 'Brooklyn'

I took my seat, she hadn't yet taken note of my presence, she was too entranced by the posts on her phone. That was perfect for me, I could just lay my head on the table and not have to deal with unnecessary talking. That was my plan until Ms. Dorothy threw a big wrench at my plans, "Alright guys, let's do an icebreaker"

She wanted us to talk about the fun things that we had done during the summer, personally, I believe that there was no reason for us to get to know each other this was after all a study hall class, there was no reason for interactions.

Ms. Dorothy took her time pointing at students at every table, waiting for every student to come up with a fun thing that they had done this summer. It was during this time that Brooklyn realized I was sitting next to her, she sighed and gave me a side eye before returning back to her phone.

Ms. Dorogthy then got to my table, first pointing at the other person at my table. "Hi I'm Nicole, and the fun thing I did this summer was go to the lake with my friends," Nicole said, her voice was light and quiet, it had a sense of calm to it.

"That's nice, I went to the beach a lot with my friends. How about you doom scroller" Ms. Dorogthy pointed at Brooklyn, I was expecting Brooklyn to release an annoyed sigh and then unenthusiastically talk about her summer.

"Well this summer, I spent a lot of time with my family, we had dinners with family friends and that was really it," Brooklyn said with a cheery smile on her face, it was a complete contrast from the expressions I had seen on her face during the time I've been here.

"Oh well that's good, family time is always important. Alright our last one, how did you spend your summer?" Ms. Doroghty asked, I could've answered with the truth about how my summer went, spending time in juvie, getting put with a new family, and coming to a new school.

I didn't do that, I went with a simpler answer "I moved from Houston here" Ms. Doroghty nodded at my answer, I figured she would then move on and we would get to relax but she asked, "Oh why'd you and your family move?"
