Chapter 23: Drowsiness (Deleted Draft)

I didn't even need to go overboard and grab her neck in order to inject her with parasitic poisons, but I did so anyway in order to fulfil a purpose, in order to instil fear into her heart.

I could have injected her with one viral cell of parasitic poison and ordered it to replicate itself using her Mana, but if I showed off my ability like that, she may have still had the courage to fight back.

Just knowing that an enemy like her fears my existence brings me a sense of comfort, since what she said before was the truth, there's no way I can beat her in a fair fight. She has that mysterious Divine Protection, she has a high talent for Mana, and her spells are basically cheat abilities in the eyes of many.

I look at her unconsciously trembling in fear on the floor of my room and shake my head, then I pull up my chair to ponder. I sit down and habitually put my hand on my chin in thought.

Gods are trying to kill me! How ridiculous is that? Don't they have anything better to do? Well, even if they are Gods, the fact that they didn't try killing me themselves shows that there's certain restraints binding them.

As for the other reincarnated enemies I have, the total should number about five, since there's only five gods and one devil in this fantasy world.

Even though I have Sapphire Swordwick under my control, this solution is only temporary, since the drop in her Mana recovery would be noticed if she fought in this condition.

Overall, once she's awoke from her unconsciousness, she will become a good pawn in gathering soldiers that can fight to defend my family.

As I thought about my loving parents and cute sister, a feeling of foreboding hit me. The dream I had before was still fresh in my head as I thought about the dangers that might attract to them.

I get up off my seat and decide to interrogate her for answers, the person who poisoned me still hasn't been confirmed due to Sapphire's tight lip.

I pick her off the floor by the hair and order the parasitic poisons that had burrowed into her body to wake her up.

"Please... Spare me." I ignore her pitiful words and sharpen my eyes at her.

"Tell me about the person who poisoned me." I order dominantly without giving her any chances to avoid the subject regarding the assassin.

Her eyes flickered with a strangeness, it seems that even though she's inwardly scared, there's still a rebellious part of her that wants to revolt against me.

I didn't waste words with her because I knew words would be useless. I stretch out my hand and tap her forehead while ordering the parasitic poisons to condense into one single viral cell.

A black mark appears on her skin that moves around to my will. I took a moment to sense the changes that came with the condensation with the parasitic poisons and found that they were actually able to send brainwave signals to Sapphire's mind directly.

I try to induce a certain signal through my order, and that was severe pain, a fake sensation of torturous pain.

Her face contorted but couldn't scream due to the restrictions I placed on her vocals, her eyes were filled with hatred as she looked at me, but within those fiery eyes were a deep rooted terror.

"Look, it's not a I want to torture you so cruelly, it's your own uncooperative attitude that's the source of your suffering. Now I'm going to ask you again, who poisoned me?" I ask with an unconcerned face in response.

"Water Elemental Gods Apostle, Sara Speedhilt, the daughter of the Assassin Guild's leader." She replies reluctantly.

"Good. Now where is she right of this moment?" I continue to question.

"She's hiding inside the-" Just as she was about to continue a needle hits her neck. The poison inside needle spreads into her veins but I didn't pay it much attention since my parasitic poison was already fighting it within her.

"I didn't expect there was someone else so close." I say as I prepare to attack. A voice could be heard drifting out of my drawer the moment I finish my words.

"You may want to pay more attention to your family rather than myself." As the soft voice entered my ears, a tremor ran through my body, my hand quickly grabbed Sapphire before throwing her.

I wasn't throwing her at the mysterious assassin, but at my shadow, a suction force pulls her within instantaneously.

My other hand moves and pulls out a grenade, which I throw directly towards the assassin's shadowy silhouette, the low sound of an explosion ensued along with the sound of water being frozen into ice. Her figure was frozen for only a moment as it headed for the window, but that moment was the only thing I needed.

I shot a bullet towards her, but she had already come up with a counter for my pistol and put up a barrier of ice. The density of the ice looked so strong that it could probably take a full powered breath of an actual fire dragon, but I didn't frown, and instead sneered.

The bullet I shot hit her shield and continued through without losing momentum or changing direction, it hit directly on the girls leg. This is because I covered my bullet with Corrupting Light before shooting it at her.

"Argh..." She let out a suppressed grunt as I ran out into the mansions corridor.

I didn't need to follow up with anything else, because I secretly left a parasitic poison in the bullet so that I could track her location, there was no time for me to focus on poisoning her so I had to put dealing with her for later.

I felt no worry girl I threw inside my shadow as well since time in my space is completely frozen, even if I was to leave her there forever, there would be no change in her current condition. My weapons were quickly put away as well.

"Mother! Father!" I shout as I banged the room door. It was locked, but I couldn't be bothered to respect something like privacy, the power of Corrupting Light picks the room's lock.

"Simon. What's wrong?" My father appears in front of me on the other side and asks in confusion. I felt relief, then entered the room and found my sister and mother sleeping peacefully as well.

My trembling heart quiets down as my knees hit the ground. The feeling of having a heavy weight on my heart lifted left me feeling a little weak.

They're safe... They're safe...! After confirming their safety I got up off the floor and shook my head to my father.

"I had a nightmare." I say casually, but my eyes weren't meeting my father's.

"Do you want to stay and sleep here for tonight?" My father asks worriedly.

I look at them again and confirmed the resolution in my heart once more. My father looked like he wanted to give a hug and comfort me but stopped after seeing my sleepy eyes. I look at my father's complicated face and smiled before shaking my head silently.

"I'm fine. Although I really want to one last time. There's a lot to prepare for tomorrow." I say before leaving. After confirming that there were no more enemies lingering inside my room I set up a bunch of alarms outside my parents room and my own room. The feeling of drowsiness overcame me as I couldn't help but fall asleep after I was done. The amount of stressful that happened today had took its toll.
