Chapter 11
Accompanied by the sound of a roaring engine, Long Hua heads for the Mirrored Moon Café, but while on the road—
[Incoming call.]
“Hm? Answer it.”
His wireless communications device goes off.
“Who is it?”
[Owner. You on the road?]
“Heading to the café.”
[Got an emergency for you to deal with.]
“Already?”
Leaning the bike over to the right, Long Hua comes to a stop in the breakdown lane.
“Well, I’m all ears.”
[Members of Ox team 03 were put in charge of stealing a key ingredient for IB-09. One of them got sniped from a distance half an hour ago. They’re currently surrounded by the military squad that they stole the ingredient from.]
“IB-09,” a healing elixir developed by NPI that is currently on its ninth generation. Said elixir is rumored to cure all the body’s health issues, and has very limited supplies, making it something that only the super-rich can afford.
“Ox…”
Members of NPI are divided into one of 12 factions that are based off the 12 eastern zodiacs.
Rabbit, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, and pig are mostly made up of noncombatants and retired combatants.
Rat, dragon, tiger, ox, dog, and snake, these six factions are made up of all combat ready agents.
Rat teams are all made up of agents who have served the organization for 15 years, while dog teams are all made up of newly recruited agents.
Ox teams are above dog teams because they are made up of agents that have served for 5 years.
“You’re not telling me to save them, are you?”
[Retrieve the ingredient. That’s all.]
“Sounds about right.”
Within NPI, Long Hua is a part of the snake faction. There are only a total of 12 members in this faction with Long Hua given the code name Serpent 09.
“Where are they right now?”
[Seventh ward. I’ve sent you the coordinates.]
“Where do I take the ingredient after?”
[Back to the café.]
“You’re asking for quite a long-distance delivery…”
Leaning back on the seat of his bike, Long Hua calculates the distance in his head.
“It’d take me around… Maybe one and a half hours of breaking every traffic law in the book to get to the café after retrieving the ingredient? And that’s assuming that I’d won’t be chased.”
[Gotta make you work for that bike. Originally, we wanted to ship the ingredient to another city, but it’s difficult to do that right now.]
“This is a job that requires more than this bike as payment. Throw me a bonus.”
[Well, what do you want?]
“Cherry blossom wine.”
He didn’t know why, but this was the first thing that came to his mind.
[Done.]
As the Owner closes the call, Long Hua fishes out two objects from his pocket.
The first is a honeycomb patterned piece of fabric and the second is a piece of the shoe worn by one of the five assassins that tried to kill him after drawing his ballot.
(Can finally put these things to use.)
Shoving these items away, he grabs onto the bike’s handlebars and draws in a deep breath of air.
“Load the map.”
Within his helmet, the coordinates that the Owner had sent are displayed on his visor.
(Quite a distance…)
*Vrrrrr!* releasing the clutch of the bike, Long Hua rolls harshly on the throttle causing the front wheel of the bike to lift into the air, while his rear tire leaves a long skid mark across the road.
Traversing down the opposite lane that he had been riding in prior to the call, Long Hua heads for the seventh ward, while filtering through the traffic at an increasing speed.
“…”
Glancing to the right that is a downwards hill, an idea appears in Long Hua’s head as he leans the bike towards that direction.
Feeling every bump through the bike’s suspension, Long Hua rides down the hill and emerges onto another road.
Towards the red traffic light that is up ahead, he doesn’t show a hint of stopping as he charges through without a care, triggering numerous cars to honk.
“…”
Spotting an alleyway that could be used as another shortcut, Long Hua readily leans his bike towards it and enters.
Perfectly out of sight within the alleyway, Long Hua mutters—
“Tai Xuan.”
Following these two words, a halo appears in the far distance and is pierced through in the next instance.
Emerging out of the halo, Long Hua’s attire is replaced with a honeycomb patterned set of black robes with wide sleeves that cover his hands. Coupled with the robes, are dark pants and tall black boots.
His helmet that had much of it covered by the robes’ hood had gained a scale like pattern—and in front of the section where his mouth would be, is the shape of a serpent’s maw that is decorated with its upper and lower fangs.
Simultaneously, the bike that is maintaining its speed has been thoroughly transformed with a full set of fairings encasing its body.
The entire bike that was originally two meters in length had been stretched by a small margin, while its undertail exhaust is now an underbelly exhaust with four pipes.
As for the handlebars, they are changed into clip-ons causing the riding ergonomics of the machine to become far more aggressive.
Attached to the front wheels of the bike are two wing shaped devices that are attached to its brake system.
If the bike is just a casual commute tool prior to entering the halo, then at this time it is a machine designed purely for apex performance.
(Hmm so this is what it’d look like after it’s been modified by Tai Xuan? Seems like voice command is a thing.)
Till this day, Long Hua still has no clue as to what Tai Xuan really is, but for as long as he can remember, this odd power has been a part of him, and regardless of how much he uses it, there doesn’t seem to be a limit on how many times he can use it.
Its main ability seems to be to transform whatever object that he touches into a more advanced form of it—along with restoring the same object back into its optimal state.
Other than that, it is also capable of transforming an object into something of similar functionalities, so long as Long Hua has an image in mind.
*Vrrrr!* as flames spew out of the bike’s four exhaust pipes, Long Hua emerges out of the alleyway and continues to ride towards his destination in a reckless manner.
Chapter 12
Ruined cars and dead bodies dressed in either casual clothing or military attire littered the streets while the sound of gunfire and the scent of iron permeated the air.
Behind a black van that is currently on its side are five individuals with their faces covered by masks and goggles. All of them are dressed in bullet-proof protective gear.
Their position is rather good, for they only have two areas to guard and maintain watch over.
Behind their backs is a brick building that is riddled with holes as a result of them exchanging gunfire with military troops.
In total, there are three military vehicles surrounding the group of five from three fronts.
Seven meters in length, three meters in width, these vehicles all have eight wheels with their outer bodies made from heavy sheets of reinforced alloys designed to fend off even an Immortal’s attack with relative ease.
As these vehicles are currently within the city grounds, their various heavy weaponry systems that are usually mounted onto their roofs have been taken off ahead of time.
Meaning, the military men that are besieging the group of five must rely on plain firearms for the task.
“Tch.”
Looking at the ongoing siege within the confines of an armored vehicle, the military captain—who is dressed in a white uniform that is decorated with three badges to his chest—clicks his tongue in annoyance.
The name of this man, who is in his thirties is Jué Yún (诀云), and he had been put in charge of transporting a special item.
Originally, this should have been an easy job—until they were robbed of that item by the group of five, who are currently positioning themselves behind the knocked over black van.
Somehow those five managed to infiltrate the ranks of this transport unit, and made preparations ahead of time to steal the item at this junction, where they were scheduled to take a brief break.
“The situation is clearly hopeless for those five… But they’re still able to surrender, or even retreat at any time—if they just give up that item. Are they waiting for reinforcements?”
………
Of the five individuals—who are besieged by the three military vehicles, one of them is leaning their back against the van’s underbelly while clutching onto his right shoulder that had been punctured by an arrow.
Leaning against the brick building’s wall is a black casket. This is the object that these five have been given the task of retrieving from those that they are currently exchanging fire with.
“Dammit.”
Swapping out a magazine, one of the five curses in annoyance.
“If only this damn casket would fit down the manhole…”
Another one of the five finishes reloading and glances at the sewer entrance that already had its cover removed.
“Keep firing. We’re just gotta have to pray for the retrieval team to get here sooner.”
“They better hurry up. Old man’s getting closer to death.”
“Shut your trap rookie. I’m still-”
The aforementioned old man groans in pain before he can finish his sentence.
“I’m more concerned about that sniper that shot the arrow relocating to our sides.”
“That’s probably a Sinner.”
“The people in charge really screwed up with this task’s difficulty.”
“Honestly, our situation isn’t that bad. They can’t really get to us.”
“But we can’t really get to them either. Also, our bullets aren’t going to last forever.”
An easy way to kill these five would just be to ram them with one of the eight-wheeled vehicles, but that comes at the risk of crushing the casket—the item that the military unit is put in charge of transporting.
As gunfire is exchanged between the two sides for another 15 or so minutes—
“Hm?”
“An engine?”
Detecting the sound of an engine approaching their location from a distance, the five figured that the retrieval team must be drawing closer, for no one in their right minds would attempt to come close to a battlefield.
“Just one person…?”
Seeing a bike that is approaching rapidly from a distance through the gap between two military vehicles one of the five constricts their eyes.
“Doesn’t matter. The casket is no longer our business. We’re retreating. Old man, you first.”
………
“…”
As the five members of Ox team 03 begin their retreat in haste, Long Hua—who had spotted them—rolls on the throttle harder, and within the span of a single minute, he charges through the gap between the two military vehicles.
In a harsh manner, he drifts the bike to a stop behind the crashed black van—while the last member of Ox team 03 begins to climb down the ladders.
“Hand me the gun.”
Stolen novel; please report.
“All yours.”
As the agent tosses their gun up, Long Hua snatches it out of the air, and presses a hand onto the casket that is leaning against the brick wall.
“Tai Xuan.”
Muttering these two words with the thought of wanting the casket to be easier to carry around, the object in question begins to emit a dull radiance as it collapses its structure and folds itself into the form of a cube that is the size of a basketball.
Attached to one corner of this cube is a belt made for carrying.
Simultaneously, the assault rifle that is held in Long Hua’s right hand is transformed into a submachine gun with a more compacted design.
Sliding the gun’s strap around his neck, Long Hua also buckles the cube’s carrying belt around his waist.
Having done all that, he kicks the black van’s underbelly sending it rolling towards one of the military vehicles.
This ends up knocking three individuals, who didn’t manage to react on time eight feet into the air, while pushing the military vehicle back by a few meters.
Without giving the remaining enemies any time to respond to the situation, the rear tire of the bike raises a screech as Long Hua rides off.
“…”
Looking at what had just happened through the monitor, Jue Yun blinks his eyes once while shaking his head twice.
“Captain Jue, what now?”
“Give chase what else? And tell that sniper to aim for that guy on the bike.”
“Sir, he doesn’t seem to have the casket.”
“Well, my instincts tell me that ridiculous looking cube around his hip is the casket.”
Having relied on his instincts and having been rather successful because of it, Jue Yun is fairly certain that the Sinner on the bike is the one in possession of the casket now, however—
“What about those five?”
“Send a separate team after them. Also, tell the nearest police station to send us some other modes of transport. Get in contact with a Disciplinary Bureau office as well. That guy on the bike is a Sinner. Chop, chop, we don’t have time to waste!”
“Sir, yes, sir!”
Similarly to a machinegun, Jue Yun gives out his orders and as his subordinate leaves to make the arrangements, he takes out a cigar.
(There seems to be a traitor on our side who leaked the casket’s transport route to the organization that sent those five in for this heist. I wonder—if it would be too late to do a look over at all those that were involved with drawing out this operation’s finer arrangements?)
Chapter 13
“…”
*Klak! Klak! Klak! Klak! Klak! * kicking through the gears of the bike rapidly, Long Hua didn’t need to look back to know that the chase had already begun with the sound of three heavy machines roaring behind him.
[Stop the bike, and hand over the cube!]
Towards the voice that came from behind him through a speaker, Long Hua continues to twist the bike’s throttle while turning around with the submachine gun in his left hand.
Taking aim, Long Hua pulls the trigger, sending a spray of bullets towards a military grunt—who had just popped their head out of the armored vehicle’s roof.
“Tch.”
Taking that as Long Hua’s answer, Jue Yun clicks his tongue, and looks to one of his subordinates.
“How goes the polices’ arrangements?”
“They said, they set up a roadblock five miles up ahead. If he gets through somehow, then transports have been arranged as well. Warnings have also been issued to tell people to get themselves off the road.”
“Good.”
Getting people off the road is a process that will take some time, hence the moment the military unit gets closer to the more populated areas, they would still be forced to abandon these wide-bodied transports, for they would have a difficult time sorting through traffic during a chase.
*Tatatatatata!!!* as bullets were fired at him, Long Hua didn’t dare to travel in a straight line, and would occasionally slow the speed of his bike to avoid a spray of bullets.
(Tch. If I get a chance, I’m definitely adding a miniature barrier device to this thing in the future. Also, an AI that can auto-pilot…)
Realizing the cons involved with trying to fight on a bike, Long Hua immediately thought of what other modifications he would want to add to his ride in the future.
Maintaining a constant exchange of gunfire and speed, the chase continues for 15 or so minutes, and—
“…Hm?”
Seeing red and blue lights in the far distance, Long Hua narrows his eyes.
Numerous police cars are arranged in a line to block off the road, and in front of those cars is a carpet of spikes.
(A roadblock? Well…)
Continuing to approach the roadblock, Long Hua glances to the left side of the road—just as he is about 30 meters away from making contact with the spiked carpet.
“Hm? The hell is he doing?”
Looking at the monitor and seeing Long Hua leaning the bike towards a building in haste, Jue Yun frowns.
“…”
*Klak! Klak! Klak! Klak!* closing in on the building, Long Hua downshifts through the bike’s gear box rapidly until it reaches second gear.
*Vrrrrrrrrroo!* keeping the clutch lever pulled in, Long Hua gives the throttle a full twist before popping the lever.
“…Climb.”
As the engine roars, the front wheel of the bike lifts off the ground.
[Spikes deployed.]
These words are displayed on the bike’s digital dash, and if anyone is able to see the rotating tire in slow motion, they would see spikes forming on the rubber’s surface.
Using his entire body weight, Long Hua swings the bike to the left smashing the front tire onto the walls of the building, and—
“What the hell…?”
With his cigar hanging from his mouth, Jue Yun is utterly appalled by the sight shown on his monitor.
Similarly, the officers that oversaw the roadblock are just as dumbstruck, for the person that they were ordered to stop is currently climbing on the walls of a building.
“…”
Reaching the end of the building and the roadblock at the same time, Long Hua places his body weight onto the pegs of the bike to avoid damaging his own spine, as he braces himself for the heavy drop that is to come.
*THUD! SCCCRRRRR…!!!* it goes without saying that this landing has greatly damaged the bike’s suspension system along with its underbelly exhaust that is made to scrape against the asphalt, but—
(Tai Xuan.)
Muttering these two words in his head, the damage on the bike is mended in an instant, allowing Long Hua to continue on his way.
“The hell is that bike? How is it still moving after a fall like that?”
Getting out of the military vehicle, Jue Yun takes a few steps forward, while his subordinates enter the police cruisers.
………
“…”
Licking his lips behind his helmet, Long Hua continues to ride down the road, but just as he is about to shift the bike into its next gear—
“Hm?”
Detecting the presence of ill intent in the air, he abruptly leans the bike to the right, and it was also in that same instance—
*Shu…!* an arrow the length of an arm is buried into the asphalt.
(An arrow? There’s a Sinner nearby?)
Recalling how a member of Ox team 03 had been sniped, Long Hua instantly assumes it to be the same Sinner that is currently targeting him.
(Where are they?)
………
“They sensed me attacking from this far?”
Standing at the edge of a building’s rooftop, Yu Ji held in his left hand an elegant white bow made from wood.
Wrapping around his waist is a belt that is attached to a quiver.
“…”
Keeping his eyes on the moving target, Yu Ji leaps off the rooftop and lands himself onto the next building.
Without pausing, he continues to dash and leap from rooftop to rooftop, while chasing after his target and firing off his arrows to apply constant pressure.
(It’s been a while since I’ve had so much difficulty hitting someone.)
A gleam that is similar to a predator appears in Yu Ji’s deep blue eyes.
(My chances of landing a hit should be better when he’s making a sharp turn.)
………
(Is probably what they’re thinking. But I’ve no plans to take a sharp turn for the time being.)
A hint of irritation builds up in Long Hua’s head for how difficult this task has become.
Getting the item back to the Mirrored Moon Café would require him to lose all his pursuers first, but with these pursuers are continuing to increase in numbers, it’s not making the task any easier.
(Didn’t think I’d get to experience what it’s like to be public enemy number one because of this…)
Continuing to dodge the arrows that came from above by swerving his bike from left to right, Long Hua soon picks up on the sound of other speeding vehicles approaching him from behind, and towards them—
*Tatatatata!!!* turning his body around, Long Hua fires the submachine gun in his left hand.
“Has the Disciplinary Bureau been contacted yet?”
Sitting in one of the police cruisers that is situated at the back of the formation, Jue Yun asks his subordinate this question.
“They have.”
“How long till they get here?”
“The office is already closed. But one of the members, who is nearby should be arriving soon.”
Realizing just how difficult it would be to retrieve the casket at this point, Jue Yun figured that there’s not much that can be done with the people that they have on hand.
(Tch. The opponent’s a Sinner. Even without their Relic, they’re still a monster.)
Having experienced the frontlines and all its cruelties, Jue Yun has come to the conclusion that monsters should only be fought against using other monsters, for in front of an Immortal or a Sinner, an ordinary human is but an infant.
Chapter 14
*Tatatatata!!!* continuing to fire the submachine gun, Long Hua simultaneously operates the bike to evade the sniper’s arrows and the rain of bullets that are being shot at him by the pursuers that are continuing to chase after his tail in police cruisers.
“…Abnormal.”
Muttering this, Jue Yun shakes his head.
More than half an hour has passed since the start of this chase.
Wouldn’t a bike that’s been made to run at such speeds for this long have run out of gas by now?
Even if it were electric powered, it would have surely been drained of its battery by now.
As for the enemy’s gun, how is it that it has yet to run out of bullets? Not once has that person reloaded that gun.
*Tatatatata!!!* compared to his enemies—who have to reload their firearms every few seconds, the gun in Long Hua’s left hand has no need for it, since its depleted ammunition is continuously being replenished from the modification effects of Tai Xuan.
“…Hm?”
Turning his attention back on the road, Long Hua sees a figure standing in the far distance.
(I’m seeing less and less people the more miles I put in. That person…)
The other side should have already realized that he is a Sinner, and those charged with dealing with rogue Sinners can only be—
(A member of the Disciplinary Bureau?)
A sense of irony filled Long Hua’s heart, as he thought about having to deal with someone of the same trade that he had just become a part of.
“…”
“…”
As Long Hua continues to approach, the figure turns out to be a girl with long blue hair tied into a tail that reaches to her waist.
Held in the girl’s right hand is a single-handed sword that measures at three feet in length.
The width of the sword’s blade is equal to two fingers and attached to the pommel of the sword is a decorative white tassel.
The attire of the brown-eyed girl consists of a loose white jacket over a black shirt, along with a loose set of dress pants and tall black boots.
“Hm?”
In response to Long Hua’s approach, the girl takes five steps forward and raises her sword that is emanating with an aura of energy.
“…”
Instinctively Long Hua reaches for the key to his bike and pulls it out of its socket, while in the same instance—
*…!* following a flash of white radiance, the bike is abruptly divided into ten pieces that scatter outwards!
“…”
Having avoided that attack by the barest possible margin by leaping a few meters into the air, Long Hua lands a few feet away from the enemy with the key to his bike shoved into his pocket.
So long as he still possesses a piece of the bike, he can easily restore it using Tai Xuan.
“2nd Lieut. of DB 04-03, Shén Lè (神乐), for whatever the hell you’re doing, you’re under arrest.”
………
“This is gotta end up making things a lot more difficult…”
Standing at the edge of a rooftop, Yu Ji looks down at the scene.
Surrounding the figure in the honeycomb patterned robes from the front is a member of the Disciplinary Bureau of the fourth ward, while behind them is a total of 15 military officers—who are getting out of their transport vehicles.
The military officers aside, what makes the situation difficult would have to be the female Sinner of the bureau.
(If she gets him first, my pay would be less… I guess, I’ll have to look for an opening to kill steal. Then again, now would be the perfect chance to fire a shot.)
Pressing one knee down on the ground, Yu Ji closes one eye and notches an arrow prior to taking aim with his bow.
………
“I repeat, for whatever the hell you’re doing, you’re under arrest.”
“…”
Outwardly the girl named Shen Le looks refined, seemingly the very image of justice, but those eyes—
(I don’t know where I’ve seen eyes like that from in the past, but they’re definitely rotten. She doesn’t even see me as a person. In her eyes, I’m probably something akin to a voucher that can be exchanged for cash…)
(C’mon, masked freak, show some resistance, so I can cut you down and make you a part of my military record. If I kill you all by myself, I should be half-way through to my next promotion.)
The two simultaneously thought of these things as they stared the other down, and just as Long Hua thought to speak—
*Shu…!* leaping backwards, an arrow stabs into the spot that he was just standing on.
In the same instance, Shen Le approaches with her sword brushing against the asphalt!
“Young lady, whatever you do, don’t damage the cube that he has by his waist!”
Realizing that a showdown between monsters will begin, Jue Yun immediately shouts this concern of his out to Shen Le.
“So, anything else is fair game? Alright!”
“…”
Maintaining his distance from Shen Le whose blade has kicked up a shower of sparks, Long Hua focuses on evading her attacks while firing his submachine gun at her.
The thought of confronting Shen Le head-on hadn’t even crossed Long Hua’s mind, for he is currently in possession of a firearm, making it difficult to fight in close-quarters combat, and at the same time—
*Shu! Shu! Shu!* three arrows descend down from above.
“…Tch.”
Directing the gun in the general direction of the incoming arrows, Long Hua pulls the trigger three times while resetting his aim each time to send three bullets out of its barrel.
*Ping! Ping! Ping!* with pinpoint accuracy, the three bullets manage to hit the arrows’ head causing them to stray from their original course of flight.
Chapter 15
“You kidding me?”
Seeing what had just happened, Yu Ji couldn’t help but widen his eyes in astonishment.
Rather quickly, he recovers his wits and adjusts his pace of breathing—prior to taking aim once more.
(That guy in the robes… Those movements aren’t something that you can attain within a day. He’s clearly skilled. I wonder, if he has a bounty on his head…?)
With the consequences of offending his opponent—who is secretly his co-worker of the same squad being the least of his concerns, Yu Ji is only focused on how much money he can get out of trading in the enemy’s head.
………
*Klang! Klang! Klang! Klang! Klang!* with great precision, Shen Le divides the bullets that are shot at her, much to Long Hua’s annoyance.
(How the hell is this rotten eyed woman this skilled?)
(He definitely has a bounty on his head for being this skilled.)
With the same thoughts as Yu Ji in her mind, Shen Le presses on with her attack, and after missing three consecutive slashes—
“…!”
Caught completely off-guard by Shen Le—who had hurled her sword at him, Long Hua who didn’t have anything else to defend himself with, instinctively positions the submachine gun in front of the weapon’s trajectory of flight.
Within the blink of an eye, the submachine gun is pierced through and damaged, prompting Long Hua to pop the carrying strap that is wrapped around his neck.
Tossing the destroyed firearm that had returned to its original form—that is an assault rifle aside, Long Hua closes in on Shen Le, and—
(We’re both unarmed now, this should make things easier.)
“Uh…!”
With beast like fierceness and the sharpness of a martial arts master, Long Hua throws out a barrage of punches and kicks to Shen Le’s astonishment!
*…! …! …! …! …!* receiving each and every hit capable of shattering bones with some struggle, Shen Le does the same towards her opponent the moment an opening is seen.
With how close the two are to one another, it makes it rather difficult for Yu Ji to launch an arrow due to the fear of friendly fire.
“…”
“…”
Looking at the sight of the two Sinners—who are currently exchanging hits with one another using superhuman levels of precision and strength, the ordinary human soldiers around Jue Yun can’t help but feel disheartened.
“Don’t take your eyes off them. This is the sort of strength you need to survive on the frontlines, and the sort of strength that you’ll be forced to confront.”
“Captain Jue, how are ordinary humans supposed to fight that?”
Tapping off the ashes of his cigar, Jue Yun answers—
“Figure it out yourself. I’ve long given up.”
Inwardly raising a sigh, Jue Yun thought back to what one of his superiors had told him in recent times.
(The number of Sinners born has become equal to the number of ordinary humans born in recent years.)
Initial impressions of this data—according to the perspectives of a military officer such as Jue Yun, would see this as a good thing.
However, looking at the situation long term, this couldn’t possibly be good.
(Ordinary humans might go extinct in the next century or less…)
With Sinners currently being treated with such cruelty, what’s there to say that they won’t end up treating ordinary humans the same way—once their numbers begin to overwhelm the current majority?
………
“…!”
Just as Long Hua becomes used to Shen Le’s movements, her sword abruptly reappears in her hand.
(Tch this bitch has fine control over her Relic…)
Only those that have a great degree of understanding towards their Relic are able to teleport them back into their own hand after dropping it amidst battle.
“Your head’s mine!”
As Shen Le’s sword approaches, Long Hua instinctively raises the cube hanging near his hip and positions it before the sword’s trajectory of movement—causing the former to widen her eyes in alarm.
“S-Stop…!”
Envisioning what would happen if that sword continued its movement, Jue Yun cries out in alarm—as Shen Le applies strength into her arms and lower body to halt her own attack!
*Klang…!* lightly tapping the black cube with her blade, cold sweat drips down Shen Le’s face upon having successfully halted her attack at the last possible instance.
“What’s wrong? Why not cut through this?”
Seeing the vexed expression on Shen Le’s face, Long Hua can’t help but want to taunt her.
As his helmet possesses a voice changing device, it becomes difficult for others to distinguish Long Hua’s gender through speech.
“You unfair ass…”
“Unfair? Ah yes indeed, the world is indeed quite an unfair place.”
*Shu!* just as he finishes saying these words, an arrow flies down from above.
(I’ve honestly had it up to here with that sniper…)
Taking one step back, Long Hua evades the incoming arrow and using this opportunity, he swings the black cube towards Shen Le.
Unable to react on time, the black cube smashes its flat panel onto the side of Shen Le’s head, and the force behind this cheap attack throws her a few meters to the side.
Uninterested in seeing the state of his enemy, who had just landed onto the asphalt, Long Hua turns towards the building, where that arrow had come from, and begins to make a dash for it.
Approaching the building, spikes grow from the base of his boots, allowing Long Hua to scale the walls.
“Shit!”
Seeing how fast his enemy is approaching from below, Yu Ji rises to a stand, but—
*Kaka…!* kicking the building’s wall, Long Hua leaps a few meters upwards and comes face to face with Yu Ji after landing onto the rooftop.
(Him?)
Had it not been for his helmet, Yu Ji would have surely seen the expression of surprise on Long Hua’s face to meet someone from the same office here.
“…”
Glaring at Yu Ji, who had caused him so much trouble, the thought of wanting to smash them on the side of their head with the black cube as well crosses Long Hua’s mind, but—
“I surrender.”
Dropping his bow, Yu Ji raises both hands into the air.
“Heh? Smart, but…”
Taking a firm step forward, Long Hua buries his fist into Yu Ji’s abdomen knocking them out in a single hit.
“…”
*Thud!* as Yu Ji’s body falls onto the ground, Long Hua turns towards the military men below.
(Bike’s destroyed and since it returns to its original state upon destruction… Oh? Seems like that girl managed to dice up the license plate nicely.)
Giving the military men a gentlemanly bow, Long Hua activates the camouflaging ability of his robes causing him to blend into the background right in front of their eyes.
“Captain Jue, this…”
Towards the situation, Jue Yun drops his cigar and steps on it prior to shaking his head.
“Kiss it up to bad luck. There’s no way that guy will be easy to capture with that sort of tech on him.”
